Good food. The braised short rib is excellent. Also had the veal special which was good also. I'd recommend the NY strip or the short rib if your a meat and potatoes guy like me. They also have a good selection of seafood, oysters, and the like. Atmosphere was great, dim but not too dark, wait staff was courteous and helpful, prices were decent. I learned that the bartender from my previous review was the owner. He was fantastic - I have returned three times since with horrible experiences with Alex, the bartender. He was inattentive and was only concerned with chit chatting with patrons who were obviously just his friends. He made my friend a lemon basil, and did not rinse his shaker before butchering my Manhattan cocktail, leaving lemon flavor, and basil pieces floating in my drink. Unacceptable! I think he knew, because he avoided interaction with us until it came time for his tip. As long as he is bartending I will not be back. Someone should also teach him to stir a cocktail properly with a barspoon rather than jam a julep strainer around his mixing glass. read more

I have never had anything but positive experiences here. I have been coming here on and off for years now, usually sitting at the bar and enjoying their great wine list. I highly recommend the hummus and steamed clams! The broth they are in is amazing, you will definitely want to ask for more bread to soak up all the good broth! Went there three times so far and have mostly good to great things to say about the place. Very cool spot, rather casual, yet attentive service and nice atmosphere. The food ranges from very good to fabulous. Desserts so far have been outstanding, even the sorbets and ice cream. Note: if you're a vegetarian, the choices are pretty limited, although they'll tweak dishes for you without any fuss. The one recent sour note was my roasted veggie Napoleon-like composition, where all the eggplant slices were raw! C'mon chef, thick eggplant rounds need a much longer roasting/grilling time than thin zucchini ribbons and red peppers!!! I like to order off their appetizer and smaller portion menu and with this one exception have not gone wrong. read more

My wife and I ate at Circa last Saturday. We had a wonderful meal. It was our third time dining there and we were pleased all three times. Both our meals were great. I had filet mignon and my wife had the scallops. My steak was tasty and cooked perfectly. My wife had enough scallops to take home with her. The service was great. I am pretty sure our server's name was Steve. He was attentive, but did not rush us along. The atmosphere is terrific. The meal was pricey, but both of us agreed that it was worth the expense. read more

I had a business luncheon there last week. It was like getting our own conference room for free and we only had to pay for the food. I enjoyed the gnocci but it was "different" and not what I'm used to. Next time, I should try the chicken pot pie. Our service was excellent. I will return again, someday. read more

We passed the small town of High Bridge on the way back from Blues Fest tonight, were looking to dine and this one looked the best, and it proved to be worth the high prices. The place was not quite packed but most tables were busy. We sat outside and our food came fast and it was delicious. We had raw oysters, steak tartar and steak frites. Everything tasted great. I'm giving it 4 out of 5 just for high prices. But again, it was worth it. read more

I went here last Friday and was impressed with the outdoor seating and how busy inside was. They have a unique selection of food and drinks. There were two bartenders and you could tell the guy is the main one. We waited 17 minutes to place an order which was irritating and he only checked on us for drinks once. We waited and waited to flag him down for our check, he had some arrogance to him and we didn't exactly feel welcomed. The food was good but nothing I would write home about. I wish I could give it more stars. The food was excellent, if you are prepared to wait for over an hour and half and this was at lunch time. Mind you, it was my party and one other party in the entire restaurant. We ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter started to pour it, to realize that a couple of glasses has already been poured from the bottle. We put in our food order pretty quickly and then the wait started. And we waited, and waited and waited. We had 2 young kids and 5 adults in our party. We got our apps, 1/2 hour later and we asked for more bread for the hummus, which never came. From there, we drank two more bottles of wines waiting for our lunch. (Maybe that was their plan) PS. After many months of expectation, my husband and I finally made it to Circa on Valentine's Day. We ordered Moscow Mules for our drinks, 2 appetizers: the crab cakes and braised shank quesadilla, the Russian and Beet salads, and the Butternut Ravioli with pancetta and mixed mushrooms, and the special lamb chops. The Moscow Mules were tart and tasty, but I was surprised when they not served in a copper mug, just an ordinary glass. Mules are their own type of drink, and the copper definitely adds to their visual appeal. At almost $10 each, buy some copper mugs and serve them properly! The braised shank quesadilla was heavenly. The crab cakes came out as huge meatballs, but they were cold when they were served. I noticed the table next to mine sent their crab back to the kitchen because theirs too, were cold. I suspect they were cold because they were just too big to retain heat inside. I'll never complain about too much crab, but consistent temperatures are a must throughout the dish. The salads were good, but not extraordinary. The Russian had too many items in it, creating an overwhelming and competing tastes and textures. Definitely drop the potatoes from this salad. The beet salad was under seasoned. Now to the stars of our meal. The ravioli was absolutely delicious. The pancetta could have been sliced thinner, since it was served as a large diced that was soggy, rather than crispy. The mushrooms were delicious in their cream sauce, and all of the elements in the dish came together perfectly. The lamb chops were very tasty, and my husband said that he would order them again. I only had one bite, so I don't have much to say. The dessert menu was, frankly, very disappointing. I had hoped for a sexy chocolate dessert to be shared between the 2 of us, but there was none. Carrot cake and various ice cream run-of-the-mill desserts were offered, and nothing appealed to us. They were all lackluster after such a diverse and engaging menu of small plates and entrees. I took one star off of my review due to the service of our meal, which was lacking, with errors made through out the meal. Little things such as not being brought a bread basket, having to wait too long for our water to be freshened and finally, not delivering my glass of wine to complement the ravioli. The only Valentines Day decor was a handful of Hershey kisses scattered on the table - really? That's the best that you could do? Our bill came to $125, which was expensive for the amount of food that we ate. We did enjoy our meal, but will not return to Circa to celebrate a holiday or special occasion. Our dinner was too expensive and the service too inconsistent to justify the price, IMHO. read more

The problem with this restaurant is that the food is forgettable. Their prices are on the high end, so you'd expect to be amazed by the meal, well, you are not. Went to Circa for their May-Fest a few weeks back. It was cool! The restaurant is nice, with an upscale atmosphere, while the bar seems a bit more laid back. It is nice that they're separated, but together. Love the way the big windows in front open up to the porch, so the first few tables (bar-side) seem like they're outside. there are a couple tables on the porch, too. Good beers on tap. DID NOT HAVE INSIDE FOOD, so no judgement on that. Outside there was a good old-fashioned BBQ going on, with ribs, burgers, chicken and pork on the grill, plus a trio of good sides to fill your plate. There was a beer stand outside, too. And a great band (Citizen's Band Radio) was playing for the whole afternoon. A few beers, a couple plates of food, a lot of good music, and MayFest at Circa was a really nice day! Went twice, likely won't be back again. Tried a dinner first. Don't get me wrong, the food is really, really good; but the portions were fairly small and, in our opinion, overpriced for what you get. We loved the flourless chocolate cake (why was it served with a glass of stout?). Decided to go again for a Sunday lunch and sit on the patio. Much to our dismay we were told that they only served a full dinner menu all day Sunday (and who wanted to drop $80 or more for a Sunday lunch?). We were getting ready to leave without ordering they agreed to serve their Saturday lunch. We had a burger and a turkey club sandwich, which were both really good and very reasonably priced. The food is good, nice atmosphere (I'm not much of a drinker so I'll reserve comment there) ... I wish the prices were a little lower, we'd definitely go back again. Circa has potential, but could use some minor changes. The beers always taste VERY good here. Perfect temperature and awesome variety. The only downside is that the bar is priced a bit high overall. It doesn't seem like there are specials all too often, the drinks are a bit too pricey, and they need a bar menu. Something like burgers and appetizers for people to indulge in if they do not want the full on dining menu. read more

I love going to Circa for a special night out. The food is always so flavorful and of impeccable quality. The homemade ravioli and gnocchi are some of my favorite things. For the bar, their wine list is limited by tasty. Usually a good selection of quality beers. BUT I cannot go to circa without ordering at least one lemon basil martini. NEVER disappoints. The service can be hit or miss. Last time I went, server was clumsy and unsure of himself, needing to retake orders and making mistakes regarding the wine list. But he was friendly enough. I've also experienced cold personalities there. A little too cold for my liking. But it's not always the case and I can look past it whenever I head there, especially since I've also gotten incredible service as well. Circa is a bright spot in an area where there isn't much of a restaurant scene an I love checking out the different dishes they offer. read more
