We are smack in the middle of two Cinnaholics and they appear to be unrelated. They have two different rewards systems. This location (Gilbert) is conveniently located near San Tan Village and has their own app and rewards called Rollwards. The points do expire so you have to use them up be various deadlines. The rolls are, of course, delicious. We never get anything but the classic and classic frosting. My favorite thing about the rolls is that they actually aren't that sweet, so if you go light on the frosting there's not much guilt here. My second favorite thing is they're typically hot out of the oven when you get them. So, they're warm and the frosting can melt on them. Yum. I recommend getting the app and the texts so you can get in on some deals like buy one, get one. Regardless, these are the BEST cinnamon rolls around and I don't mess with Cinnebon at all, even though they allowed Better Call Saul to use their logo. Nope. Cinnaholic is the only brand I'll eat. I've been a Cinnaholic fan ever since I tried them back in 2009 at their Berkeley, CA location. It's so awesome that AZ finally got their very own franchise! This location is deep in east valley. An odd location, but judging how consistently busy they were, this doesn't seem like it'll be a problem for them. The rolls are as amazing as ever. Lots of custom rolls or you can build your own. My friend and I split a few things: Cookie Monster - an extremely rich and decadent roll with cream cheese frosting, cookie dough, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce. At over 1100 calories, this one will definitely take up the majority of your daily caloric intake, but it's SO worth it. (Tip: the rolls are huge, so you can definitely eat this in portions or share it) Caramel Apple Pie - caramel frosting, apples, pecans, pie crumble, and caramel sauce. I'm obsessed with caramel everything so this one was my favorite. This wasn't as heavy as the Cookie Monster, but still sits at a hefty 960 calories, so I was happy to have someone with whom I could split it. I also love that Cinnaholic has expanded beyond just cinnamon rolls. They offer soft, chewy cookies, brownies, and even Dole Whip! How exciting! The employees were all very friendly and helpful. For as busy as they were, they did their best to keep up with the messes, trash can filling up, and water cooler running low. They were working so hard and still remained pleasant. On my way out of town, I got a few orders of Baby Buns to go. You get 3 small buns in a pack for $5 with one icing flavor included. You can buy additional icing for 0.25. I informed them that I'd be traveling so they packaged them accordingly, and the owner gave great tips on keeping them fresh. Nearly a week later and these buns are still extremely fresh. Cinnamon rolls have a few key roles in this world and Cinnaholic managed to capture all but maybe 1 for me. I gave them a 5 star because really they created something so spectacular out of a cinnamon roll. A top performing cinnamon roll (in my opinion) needs 1. Very moist 2. More than enough cream cheese frosting 3. A healthy layer of cinnamon:butter ratio inside 4. A super moist heavily gooey heart in the center 5. Don't get it twisted ya'll, the cinnamon rolls are the same, they're just the base; it's the toppings that will set them apart. By far one of my favorite places to go if I'm in a mood for something sweet! You can build your own cinnamon roll or select one from their menu or display box! My go to is maple frosting with strawberries. Their home baked lemon cranberry bread is to die for! I get my birthday cake here every year for $35. OMG! If you like cinnamon rolls and/or you need a decadent dessert, this is the place! I was a bit of a skeptic because I wasn't really impressed with dessert places with similar concepts (waffles, churros, etc). This place blows them all out of the water. Let's start with the base - the cinnamon rolls were delicious and high quality. I would eat the regular roll on its own. Now let's get to the toppings. All of their creations were creative with fresh high quality ingredients. I like that they have a variety of flavor pallets for their signature rolls - fruit, cookie dough, pies, s'mores. And if you don't care for those, you can use all their toppings to creat your own. But if I had to choose, I really enjoyed the tropical bliss roll because I enjoyed the mix of fruit flavors. I'm not an icing person nor would I order cookie dough as a topping but it was surprisingly delicious! These are the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. So good that you can't eat it all at once--you know when you hold onto something because you want to continually taste it? One cinnamon roll lasts me about 2 days of picking at it and eating it cold or hot. And while that's for me, my 2 yr old nephew can eat it all in one sitting. He loves this place and calls it "Cookie Monster" after his (and my) favorite roll. That's literally how I get him to behave/do something. I just tell him that we are getting Cookie Monster and he becomes an angel. So by know you know the food is excellent. The place itself is small. Cozy I would say. If you don't then you might be overwhelmed while holding up such a congested line in such a small place. (Ok let me rant about Covid even though I'm not a real big Covid fearing person). This is a tiny little place. The people here were very friendly and my maple -and-nut topped cinnamon roll was very fresh and tasty. I like my cinnamon rolls with A LOT of spicy cinnamon... and butter. My dad makes amazing cinnamon rolls at home, so I'm "experienced" (jaded? biased?). That said, I wasn't quite as impressed with their basic roll, but it definitely was not bad. Without overdoing it with the cinnamon and butter in the simple rolls, they have a more general base for creations. The rolls are a nice size: not tiny but not something that will put you into a carb-coma just looking at it! If that's you're goal, I'm sure you can concoct something with all of their topping options, though. Try to show some restraint ;) They definitely focus on the custom toppings, so if you're coming here, plan to let them shine. (Admittedly, ordering a plain roll here is like going to a speakeasy and ordering a vodka on the rocks). Ask for a suggestion--that's how I got to my maple-topped happiness.
