Went to try this place for the first time and it will definitely not be our last!…read more This is such a hidden gem in the area and the food is reasonably priced and delicious. The entrance can be from the front of the restaurant or the back end and parking wraps around the building. You can sit anywhere you please (at least from what we saw) there is no outdoor seating but the decor and everything inside is really nice. They have a large variety of Mexican dishes, we tried shrimp fundido, mojarra frita and a kids quesadilla. They have homemade corn tortillas and aguas frescas (horchata and tamarindo). Everything was seasoned just right, our food came with salad rice AND beans. The aguas were delicious and not overly sweet. And we weren't waiting a long time for our food. Chips and salsa are homemade and salsa isn't spicy, we did get a cheese dip and it was worth the money. They also provide you a variety of hot sauces, there is a green and red salsa they gave to the table and the red salsa definitely has a kick but it was so delicious I'd buy just the salsa if I could. Service was 10/10, everyone was super friendly, there was music playing and it was just an overall great vibe. If you've not tried this place, definitely go.

I've had this place bookmarked for a while...sadly the bookmark is getting removed…read more The good: We were quickly seated and had our choice between a booth or table. We luckily beat the Sunday after church rush too because there was a bit of a wait 30 minutes after we came. For my entree I ordered the lunch special pastor burrito. The burrito was a nice size for lunch. The green sauce had a nice flavor and a bit of heat that the sour cream helped to calm. The pork was marinated very well, was plentiful, and the mandatory pastor pineapple was a nice touch as always. The bad: Salsa, chips, and Mexican rice were bland. The guac on my husband's plate was missing a hint of lime and salt The ugly: Service.....Actually what service?!? The waitress never came back after taking our order. Also, when ordering, I accidentally dropped my straw right by the waitress's feet. I am very visibly pregnant, so bending over to grab anything on the floor is a challenging workout. Instead of offering me another or picking it up for me (it was still wrapped), she just stared at it. I braced myself on the table to pick it up and almost flipped the table (water spilled and items went sliding). Instead of looking in shock, offering to help clean up the water or even laugh, she gave me the Gen Z stare..... this should have been our warning sign for the non existent service that was to come. My main lunch entree was 4 stars (sadly can't say the same for the sides or my husband's), but the service... I honestly should subtract more than 1 star but feeling more generous than they were with their service ;)

The staff weee awesome and even brought us the homemade hot sauce (delicious by the way). Their chips for the chips and salsa are obviously homemade. Had to resist not gorging on those. I got a pork chop with rice and beans and fried plantains. The pork chop was fine but it was completely overshadowed by the rice and beans which were overstuffed by the plantains. This was just a delicious meal. The place has a wide variety of seating options for almost any size group. We also noticed they seem to do a brisk takeout business as well. If you're around or even passing through this is a must try.

Ten en cuenta que solo aceptan efectivo, pero estás aquí para disfrutar de la comida, no de sus métodos de pago :) / The Coal Miner, Carbonero ;) is the real-deal for Salvadoran cuisine. I love places that let one channel their inner Anthony Bourdain right here close to home. The cuisine is primarily Salvadoran with some Mexican-influenced dishes as well. No disputing the authenticity of the food; this is not a chain. The service was fast and friendly, although it did take a short while for the meal to be delivered. El Carbonero is quite casual, this is not a fancy spot. There were families and workers enjoying their freshly made pupusas. They only take cash, so be prepared. Get outside your comfort zone (perhaps) and definitely give this spot a try. Estarás gratamente sorprendido :)

I almost missed out because the sign had a different name but I came in hoping they had birria tacos. The food came out pretty quickly and oh my. The consommé was so rich and addicting. I ended up sopping every drop on the chips I had left after devouring the tacos. The meat was so tender and flavorful,l. What a epic lunch. They keep everything very clean. It's a nice little space. The back wall of flowers and embroidered pillows were a nice touch. I would definitely come back to satisfy my birria cravings. The consommé was a solid 9. Would have been a 10 if it wasn't as soupy. I prefer a thicker consistency. The taco itself a solid 9. Could have been a tad crispier and warmer. The salsa was the only thing I didn't care for. It was very sweet. I recommend you to come by and check them out. I'm stuck on the birria tacos so I'll have to force myself into ordering something new. Thumbs up. Best in a couple weeks.
