I was in town working at an event when we stumbled across Parks Family Buffet. I'm happy we decided…read moreto stop by because it was a great home-cooked experience. All of the food was fresh, and the best part was the chicken, but I enjoyed everything that I put on my plate. They also have some really good peach cobbler (which is even better when you put some soft serve on top). To top it off, everyone was so nice and welcoming. If I'm ever in Waco again, you can bet I'll be stopping by at Parks.

I ordered a plate of mixed fajitas that were absolutely gross, both the chicken and the beef. But…read morethe beef was particularly bad. I was surprised when it came out in under 10 minutes, Even asking the waitress, "already?". It was obvious it was precooked and stored, the flavor was undeniable. It tasted old. had that cooked in old oil flavor. Rock a deep fryer hasn't been changed out in a month absolutely no seasoning or marinade that I can tell. It was very off-putting. I sat there for a few minutes arguing with myself whether I was going to say anything or not. The waitress saw that I was displeased. when I very politely told her that the food tasted terrible she called over a lady who immediately became dismissive, rude and eventually argumentative. I asked for a manager, she stated, "Well, I'm the owner." She lied, swore up and down the food was fresh, lied again, claiming she had that very dish herself that day, as if just moments before I walked in the door) and that they have had no complaints. she refused to take it back and let me order something else. she stood there lording over me. basically, too bad so sad You're going to pay for it anyway. I left the whole plate on the table. I will never be back.

There is a wonderful outside seating area that I can't wait to go back and enjoy, the inside is just as nice. Let's talk about this BBQ, I do BBQ reviews and this was my top spot of the week. I look for a great bark and this place had it, plus it's perfectly seasoned. The brisket was moist and tender, the ribs had a bit of sweetness but not overpowering and they came right off the bone! The jalapeno sausage is also balanced perfectly so it wasn't too hot and they don't use cheddar cheese which was a nice surprise. A MUST TRY!

The Mac and cheese was really good, and my banana pudding was too! When we entered, one of the employees met us at the sign and we informed him that it was our first time there. From that point on, he told us how the line worked. When I was leaving with my kid in the stroller and food in hand, another employee offered to help me out the door! Everyone was really nice and attentive! I really loved the aesthetic! There were smokers outside where you could see where they cooked the meat in real time! I read in another review that you could tour with a pit master; however, we didn't do that. Overall, food is great, but expensive. For a family of 4, our entire meal was ~94.00! Enjoy!

Were they working nonstop trying to take care of hundreds and hundreds of guests all at once? Absolutely. And through all of it, the front of house staff handled the pressure with grace, calm, professionalism, and genuinely selfless hospitality toward every single table. In reading some of the negative reviews, I think it's important to remember that while a few people may have had frustrating moments during one of the busiest weekends of the year, there were also countless guests having wonderful experiences that same evening. Small businesses and restaurants are incredibly difficult industries, especially during high-volume weekends like Baylor graduation, and the people showing up to serve deserve kindness too. Our experience this weekend -- and every experience we've ever had at Diamondback's -- has been exceptional. You can feel how much every staff member cares about every guest who walks through the door, and that care extends all the way to ownership. The owner clearly does not take feedback lightly, and it's obvious she pours her heart into this restaurant and the people dining there. Diamondback's continues to embody true hospitality, and I could not recommend them more. Looking forward to many more memorable evenings dining at this amazing Waco restaurant.

This was my second time visiting this place, and I really enjoyed it again!…read more There were four of us, and we spent around $50 total, which I thought was pretty reasonable for everything we ordered. For appetizers, we got the crab puffs. The combination of the crispy puff, cream cheese, and crab was delicious! We also ordered the steamed dumplings, which had a nice combination of vegetables and ground meat. I liked that the appetizers balanced each other out--one was a little sweeter, while the other was more savory. For our main dishes, we ordered Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. You really can't go wrong with Kung Pao chicken! The spice level was just right for me, although I do enjoy spicy food, so keep that in mind if you prefer milder flavors. We also ordered the beef with snow peas, and I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It was a new way for me to try snow peas, and I'm officially a fan! We also got the wonton soup. It looks simple, but it has a lot of flavor and was actually a nice palate cleanser between dishes. I went with my aunt, who usually isn't a big fan of eating out because she tends to have not-so-great experiences. However, this place earned her "I like it" stamp both for the food and the service! The only thing she mentioned was that the food was a little salty for her taste. She usually eats food with very little salt, though, so I think that's more of a personal preference than a complaint about the food itself. The restaurant itself is pretty, welcoming, and comfortable, and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely a place I'd come back to!
