We eat at Parks whenever we go to Waco. The food is great, service is caring, they treat us like family and prices are reasonable!

A little out of the way, but it's worth the drive for some great country cookin'! Come on Sundays for Thanksgiving dishes every week, like ham, roast beef turkey, fried chicken, roast chicken, chicken fried steak. There's also a salad bar. I'm happy that Parks / Rancho Grande is still open during this pandemic hoax nonsense. I drop by in the morning for a good breakfast , and swing by on the way back home for lunch. Good burritos and Mexican plates. Homestyle plates like fried chicken and sides. I call ahead about 8-10 minutes to pick up and go when I'm in a hurry. We rolled off a tour bus after a night of ridiculous binge drinking culminating in 2 AM salad mix and tomato noshing at the hotel. It's what was available at the time for drunk and hungry people, but the universe had other plans for us in just a few short hours: Parks Family Buffet. The building and decor are nothing special, and the patrons are mostly seniors. The food, however, is amazing. It tastes as if it was individually prepared rather than set out on a buffet. A fellow in my party commented the vegetables on the salad bar in particular tasted home grown, which was true. I've been to ALOT of buffets in my career as a quasi-professional buffet taster, and this one is legit. I was in town working at an event when we stumbled across Parks Family Buffet. I'm happy we decided to stop by because it was a great home-cooked experience. All of the food was fresh, and the best part was the chicken, but I enjoyed everything that I put on my plate. They also have some really good peach cobbler (which is even better when you put some soft serve on top). To top it off, everyone was so nice and welcoming. This is a "2 in 1" restaurant. You have the Parks Buffet and Rancho Grande that merged. My grandmother loves the buffet that has a salad bar, entrees, sides, and a little dessert. I'm not a fan of the buffet but some (like my grandmother) love it. I like the Rancho Grande menu. They have a lunch specials menu at each table that are 4.99 before tax. Each main dish is served with rice and beans. I always go for the fajitas. They have chicken or beef, but I always get a spilt of both for no extra charge. ALSO! For all you MENUDO lovers, this is my favorite place to get it (other than homemade). I'm super picky about my menudo, but I know that if I go here on a Sunday morning I'll be a happy camper when I leave. read more

The the category of country buffet's Parks is the best for miles around and could be considered a 5 star in this group. It is operated by twin brothers - one at the front managing and the other in back cooking. This is not diet food and the patrons seem to reflect this philosophy. I like the crispy pork chops,crunchy fried chicken and lightly breaded catfish. Yellow squash, turnip greens and pea salad are veggie favorites. Several desserts to choose from. Only the cornbread and rolls disappoint. The price is great because they don't spent too much on atmosphere. read more

This is the place if you are looking for a down-home southern comfort buffet. It was Sunday and we were in the waco/bellmead area and decided to come here because for one, the parking lot was full and two, we were hungry enough for a buffet. As you walk in, there is a sign to your right stating for you to seat yourself and behind it a "L" shaped buffet. We found a table and sat there for a good two minutes. No one greeted us and because of my family undying hunger, we all went to the buffet. We started at the top of the "L" which had the plates and salad area, which included a great mustard based potato salad. Going down the buffet there was a section with fruit, cottage cheese and some kind of whipped cherry mixture. Then you get around the corner and there stood the comfort food, one whole buffet area with everything you will ever need. Best chicken and dumplings in Texas! The ham and ribs are really good, and the waitresses are great! Place looks a little sketchy because it looks like it's the inside of someone's house and is usually full of seniors (actually a good sign, because they tend to know good food), but the food more than makes up for it. This is the ultimate lunch feast destination on this side of Waco/Bellmead. It is southern down home cooking. There are not a lot of frills and it is not fancy here. Different days have different specials of the day. I can't remember which day is pork chop day, but they sure are good. I also like their fried catfish. The wait staff is friendly and quick to help out. I stay away from there as much as possible so I don't eat too much since it's easy to get carried away. They are closed on Mondays. read more

Salad bar was great plenty of different types pea salad cucumber salad potato salad black eye pea salad and great add ins to lettuce. The buffet was good had fish chicken meat loaf and chicken fried steak. Vegetables were lacking a little flavor but overall great experience will go again if in the area. I used to eat here a lot. This place has changed. It's gotten new owners and is far from what it used to be.

This restaurant appeals mainly to the retirement set, opening really early for breakfast and then closing at 3:00. We came in at 1:00. They offered us a choice between menus or the buffet, but the buffet was the reason my parents wanted to come. We paid $10.50 each. Country music drifts down from the water-stained ceiling tiles above while an army of aproned servers armed with pitchers and rags continuously infiltrate the numerous tables draped in torn vinyl tablecloths. The restaurant seems to stay crowded, so obviously, lots of folks like this place. I found the food on the buffet reminiscent of the fare you might find in a hospital cafeteria: pre-formed chicken-fried steaks, mutilated bits of turkey soaked in yellow dressing, etc. It just wasn't for me. I gave it an extra star for the friendliness of the staff, but the food wasn't good. read more

I went today after church 9-10-17 .I had to wait half through our meal before we could order a drink then my granddaughter had to get up and ask for a refill server put bill on table without asking anything .I go to pay and let cashier know that both my granddaughters are ten yrs old so we were over charged .I was charged for three adults .Cashier rolls her eyes in disbelief that they are both ten ,well alrighty then I explained to her they were grandchildren but she proceeded to assume I was lying of course the restaurant was full being a Sunday .I was very embarrassed .I will definetly not be going there again and neither will my family.
