The inside is no frills with images displaying some offered menu items. My order of Chicken & Broccoli, and Mu Shu Pork were both well prepared, and as good as anything I have had in San Francisco where I live. Regarding the Mu Shu Pork, the restaurant provided Wonton wrappers, vs the traditional pancakes, and did not provide a Plum or Hoisin sauce that is often added to the Mu Shu Pork packet. I have always enjoyed the food at Happy Wok, they have always been consistent and I constantly tell friends Happy Wok is the best Chinese food in Waco. Tonight we decided to order through Favor to have dinner delivered, I was not able to edit or make any changes to any dish (we have a mushroom allergy that is very serious), no big deal, I'll just call them after I place my order...so I call, and am told the manager will call me back because the person on the phone couldn't tell the kitchen themselves? Idk. Anyways, the favor driver gets there and had to tell them five times "no mushrooms". Luckily, there were no mushrooms. But after we got our order, instead of getting an order of fried rice and an order of lo-mein, we received two orders of fried rice. Thinking maybe we can resolve this, I call the restaurant to let them know our order was wrong, again I was told the manager would call me back, after waiting awhile I call a third time, again told the same thing but this time insisted I stay on the line since the past two times I did not receive a call back. The girl on the phone hung up on me and then they would not take another call from us. The food is great, service is awful and rude. Maybe we will give Happy Wok another chance in the future, but as of now, I'd rather not deal with rude service. read more

The food is great and get the ice tea. The mixed egg drop and wonton soup are my favorite and is a meal in itself. The house rice is a great with the chicken wings for a quick lunch. Only lost a star due to the fact that I wasn't aware they were doing phone orders only and didn't give ANY indication as to the protocols when I got there. We called in a order of two fried rice, two chicken chow mein, orange chicken, lemon chicken, beef and broccoli and sweet and sour pork. (Feeding a lot of people) when we got it home and started opening stuff up we noticed we got two very soupy watery looking chickens and no cho mein? We were very confused. We called back to let them know we didn't get our chow mein when they told us we ordered it wrong and if we wanted noddles we should have ordered lo mein? I personally have never had this happen ordering chow mein so I googled both chow and lo mein and according to google they both have noddles. Just disappointed that we didn't get our noddles. Located in a rather rundown strip mall this is a gem of a place. Counter help is efficient. Place was very clean not crowded when we got there but shortly after there was at least 10 people waiting in line. The food is served in to-go containers which is a pretty good idea because they give you so much that you can't finish it all. I had the Sesame Chicken special and it came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. It was hot and delicious. Some of the best sesame chicken I have ever had. They also serve sodas including some diet drinks in bottles. Be prepared to eat on takeout plates including plastic ware. This doesn't bother us because the value for the money is so good. If it really bothers you then get takeout or bring silverware. We found that an entree and appetizer will definitely fill the both of us up. So we only order one of each and share. Also order by numbers by the meal so you get the right entree. Some items are on the lunch special as well as the dinner special and the regular dinner one. Ambience is a bit lacking but it is a true gem if you value taste, food quality and overall value.
