I usually rock with Chycho's. Their burritos? Fire. Like, "I'd fight my own cousin for the last bite" level. But today... today Chycho's betrayed me on a spiritual level. I ordered a chicken quesadilla thinking I was about to enjoy a nice, chill meal. Instead, what I got looked like someone folded a tortilla over a crying, unprepared chicken and sent it out to die again. First red flag: It wasn't even cut. Just one sad, floppy tortilla blanket with vibes of "I gave up halfway through." Second red flag -- and the one that sent me into survival mode: I opened it up and saw chicken that was straight-up pink and red like it was auditioning for a role as "Still Alive #3" on Animal Planet. That meat wasn't undercooked -- it was practically begging to go back in the coop. I stopped eating immediately because I'm 99% sure I avoided a speedrun of food poisoning. My stomach already sent me a text message saying, "We not doing this today." The worst part? Chycho's knows they can do better. Their burritos slap every time. But this quesadilla? This was a cry for help from the kitchen. Somebody in the back said, "Cook it? Nah, let's just warm it up enough to trick him." Absolutely disgusting. I've never left a review before, but this quesadilla unlocked a new level of disappointment in my soul. Fix it, Chycho's. I still want to love you -- but I'm not trying to meet God over a $10 quesadilla. read more

Came for lunch because this place is always packed or lots of to go orders. The restaurant doesn't look like it from the outside but very clean and festive inside. Food was delicious! What we ordered: Agua Frescas- Limonada and Sandia - very good and sweet Queso Flameado with beef fajitas - greasy because they put chorizo but it was very good. I drained the grease. Quesobirria - good and not soggy! Chips and salsa- a favorite! I loved two of the three options Lastly they serve a free portion of their fideos and they were so good. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We went into today and it was good at first until our food arrived, waiter put in an order for an ADULT meal for my 2yo daughter when I specifically ordered and pointed at the kids menu and his response was "well you can take the rest to go" and then it takes a turn for the worst... my daughter accidentally spilled her drink and they definitely make us feel like it was such a bother for them. After that they never offered to provide her another drink , practically ignored us the whole time we were there we had to flag him down just to get a refill. Again we were ignored for the majority of our time here. Didn't even bother to give us the check we had to walk out to the doors just to pay for our food and then had the nerve to take his sweet time. Definitely our last time here. Don't know waste your money here. Bad servicend mediocre food. read more

Walking in was a bit confusion as to exactly where the entrance was. However once inside, the place was pleasantly surprising. The seating was awesome, a high top table over looking the street. Loved the staff, we're Super attentive to your needs. The food; to die for. The corn tortillas all hand made from scratch. We also had the "Salchi-Burger," it had pineapple slices in it. We stopped in after a day at Old Town Spring to continue having a great time. The ambience is casual and the service was quick. The avocado and chicharrón was amazing. I could have ordered two orders and been happy. The chicharrón was hot, meaty and fresh. Tortillas were offered but we were thinking we were going to receive pork skins and not fresh meaty ones. I ordered the taquitos platter that came with 5 tacos that were nicely filled. We ordered a jarrito drink each with our choice of tequila and paid $6 to keep the mug. It was a little pricey but worth it. I only gave 4 stars because our waitress acted as if we're a bother to her. The restaurant is nice. Went at morning open for a family breakfast and no other customers were there. The kitchen staff was prepping for lunch or dinner and did not expect customers, service was agonizingly slow for being the only customers. Free chips with salsa were good quality and heat. The portions were decent size, but nothing special quality wise was standard Tex/Mex. Had to pay cash as their internet was down. Horrible parking lot makes you back into the main street to exit. Well is you want great Mexican food this is the place. I have not been satisfied with any of the Mexican food in the Houston area until now. The tripas, langua, and Babacoa is delicious and perfect. The bacon wrapped shrimp are perfect with the added cream cheese and jalapeño it's just a perfect bite. We took an order of the menudo and pasole home and the as good as it gets. Seriously come eat here and you will also leave satisfied. The waitress and staff ate eager to make sure you get and have what you want and need. Best service you can ask for. I have a sad update for this.....in my mind.... Excellent restaurant. The MENUDO is still excellent BUT the portion served is much smaller but the $$PRICE$$ is as high as ever. The drinks are still served with flair but you will need at least 2 in order to over look ALL the miss steps of your assigned server. You are seated with a long pause before complimentary cold chips & dips are plated on your table. After SOME TIME chips arrive, then your drink order is taken NOT in the order you were seated. Very irritating to watch people give their drink order that arrived Waaaay after you got there. Next food order is taken with no utensils or napkins....ENTRÈ arrives BEFORE appetizers. Price changes on 6 mozzarella sticks not mentioned for the 3 sticks that arrived claiming the price is the same because the 3 served a larger than the 6 originally on the menu (and STILL there). Had I NOT questioned a possible incorrect order I can only assume she would have NEVER explained anything to me. I needed to order another drink but tried as I did to wave and get ANYONE'S attention....i was ignored. So I did the next best thing, got UP from my table, head for the bar to order MY OWN additional drink where my assigned waitress appeared like HARRY POTTER to take my order. THIS is a restaurant I made special trips on SUNDAYS from WEST ROAD just to have their MENUDO.....sadly no more and their menu price hikes has nothing to do with it as to can tell I don't live around the corner. So IF you visit CHYCHO's expect your dinning experience to be minimal sad to say, maybe the NEW restaurant opening soon will have better customer service. I received a to go order. Quality of food was not as good as I received in the past.. Paid extra for flour tortillas, however I was unable to eat them. Burned to a crisp and breaking off. Had a texture of a chip. Onion and jalapeno usually are grilled and cooked through. Today they were pretty much raw. Finally the term 1/2 a chicken is misleading. Typically 1/2 a chicken would be one of the two breasts a chicken has. I ordered 1/2 a chicken dinner but received only 1/2 of one of the breast. The breast I received was cut in half. Quite literally the most average taco plate I've ever had. Very underwhelming especially for the price. I did not like that they nickel and dime for every little thing. Had to pay $1.25 just for lettuce, quite a bit extra for cheese and sour cream each (just for them the not even include the sour cream), and when I asked for flour tortillas instead of corn they said it would be $3.50 for that. I said never mind on that one. Can buy I sack of flour tortillas for a fifth of the price so I didn't see the point. The rice was cold and I expected refried beans like other Mexican restaurants, but regular beans (I suppose). The best part of the meal was the fajita meat which was flavorful. I go here more than any taqueria. My current favorite is the caldo de pollo and the trompo tacos. Consistently excellent. The owner is a true entrepreneur. He's always building on and tweaking things. He built a refresqueria and now serves micheladas as well. Also worth getting is the Mexican burger. I don't know why this place has such poor reviews, the food and service here was AMAZING. Upon entering, there was a cheerful environment with our server seating us immediately. Our table ordered drinks (the piña colada was so good and pretty strong) and we're out quickly. The food was seasoned very well, not too spicy but with a nice kick that left me wanting more. The rice was definitely the best part as it was seasoned perfectly without being overly salty. Definitely coming back to Chycho's the next time I come to Texas! read more

Idk about the food anymore. Couldn't get any service. People came in after me and my girlfriend they got served we got looked over. Had to go get somebody's attention to get any kind of service at all. And they still treat us like we are a problem. So we paid for our drinks and left. I will never go to this place ever again. Keep in mind I've come here for years. I felt like we weren't treated like people. How you going to give us hot sauce and chips and nothing to drink?
