Finding authentic Mexican food has been near impossible since moving to East Texas but I finally found a winner and it has been on our repertoire since last summer. My new discovery at this restaurant is that they serve a Sunday Mexican Breakfast Buffet! We loaded up the car and off we went. Here's a few things I found at the Buffet: Menudo, Tamales, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Fresh flour tortillas, Re-fried beans, Rice, Churros, Chiles Rellenos, Omelets, Arroz con Leche, Huevos Rancheros...yes, I found it all here! And those were just traditional breakfast items! They also had: scrambled eggs with peppers, beef enchiladas, taquitos, Empanadas, Flan, Sopes filled with cheese and beans, taquitos, and so much more including chocolate covered strawberries and cheesecake! For those with some picky eaters they will be satisfied because they have: pancakes, sausage, hash browns, cinnamon rolls, fruit, cold cereal and biscuits. My boyfriend and I like to frequent local Tex-Mex spots often, and really enjoyed our experience here! The food was authentic and delicious - we ordered fajitas poblanos and it was so flavorful! - but what really blew us away was the service! I order from here 1-2 a month and over all their food is good. But their Managers customer service/satisfaction is one of the worst. They can care less about how you feel and will not go out their way to make you a happy customer.! I usually order otp or on door dash. This time around I ordered on door dash which I'm aware when you have an issue you can just address it with door dash. Which when u do they will only refund u a partial amount. But this time around I chose to call the restaurant to ask them why was 1 of my entre bagged and knotted but the 2nd entree was not. The guy who answered said they were rushing a bit and were about to close and they had to run out to the car to catch the driver because they forgot to give them the 2nd entre. I told them well due to that my dish was left at my doorsteps un bagged and felt very uncomfortable eating it because the plate looked as if it had already been opened that even though I did plan on filing a complaint with door dash that I felt this was also due to them forgetting to bag my item. They guy kept arguing back in fourth wanting me to understand they had to run to catch the driver therefore unable to bag it. I told him I understood that but this was still their fault and if I could pls bring it back that I would even drive to there to get that one entre and he refused. I then asked to speak to a mgr to then hearing him cover the phone and then later another guy name Alfonzo if that was his name said he was the general mgr and when I asked for his name he sarcastically said no for me tell him my name first. I said sir I am the customer who u just placed the order. You have my info in your records and I don't have yours! He then paused and gave me his "name". He then said he could not do anything and said it was not his responsibility to bag anything. He was so defensive and said and if I called door dash that they will say that they did bag the entre and blame the door dash that it would be his word and against the door dash driver. I then added well in that case the drivers and my word because your employee just admitted to it being his fault for rushing to catch the driver. He then said we will say it was in the bag and the driver took it out. I was so shocked by what he said that I hung up the call and contacted door dash. But I really needed to voice this because this is NOT how you handle customers but since he's not the owner he can care less about the customers he looses. Great Mexican food and atmosphere! I started coming here during my move to Texas back in 2008. I first has the Stuffed Avocado which is stuffed with fajitas meat and cheese and then deep fried...yum! It does take long to prepare to be ready to wait a bit. Don't worry, while you wait there will be hot tortilla chips with free salsa (green or red). And don't even think about your drink, it will be refilled again and again before you know it. Prompt wait staff and kitchen make this place one of the best local Mexican Restaurants in this part of Texas. I have been to the Conroe location and enjoyed the food so I decided to try the Spring location as well. The food was right an target and delicious. I, of course, had the fajitas and they were wonderful. WE went with a small group and they all enjoyed their food, including my vegetarian friend who was able to find a filling meal as well. I would recommend this location over the Conroe location simply because there is decent lighting and no carpet on the floor. read more

I thought it ranked on the "cheap mexican" side and would have been happy if my bill reflected as much, however for a family of 5 we could have spent the same at Chuy's and had a far superior experience. Salsa - meh, had better, it was okay. Queso - good, creamy and cheesy the way we like it Cheese enchilada - standard but good Taco - not a huge fan of the beef but it was okay Fajita beef (specifically for the taco al carbon) - old and dry, Hubby was not a happy camper Beans - okay I really liked these Rice - standard Freshness and hot - no problem Service - good and kept our drinks filled, no complaints I have a feeling the love of this place comes from margaritas which we did not sample this evening. Three different salsas and a separate plate with some chile con queso for each guest is a nice touch for lunch. I had Tacos Al Carbon (chicken) and sprung for the option to have them covered with white queso. They were awesome! My wife ordered a la carte, including a tamale that wasn't as good. Kids chicken quesadilla was made with fajita chicken meat instead of shredded, very good. Overall, a great spot for lunch or casual dinner. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in the Woodlands area. All the entrees and combos I've tried have been delicious and filling, without costing too much. Salsas are tasty, but could use a little improvement in my opinion (though I'm very picky about my salsa). And the waitstaff: excellent. Quick and attentive; deserving of a good tip for sure. since moving away from The Woodlands 4 years ago, I've learned the true power of this place. I used to go here, on average, once a week. It's amazing- especially the camarones diablos and the enchiladas blancas. But I've tried almost everything on the menu- you can't go wrong here. The service is prompt; the complementary salsa verde with chips is addictive, and they always refill it. Now that I live 400 miles away, I literally dream about this food. creamy queso and crisp margaritas and the best mole sauce in the world swirling around above my head and in my heart all night long...just, everything. Do yourself a favor and come here and order the Fajitas Pablanas. Their tortillas are just about made to order (and sometimes actually made to order). The chips & salsa are good. They have a nacho type appetizer that is chips, refried beans, & white queso which is to die for although the cost for it is seriously ridiculous at around $9 (too much for what you get, in my opinion). El Bosque is my go to place for Mexican food in The Woodlands. You can get a large margarita for under 6 bucks and they are not shy with the alcohol. I get a number 3 every time which is a chicken fajita quesadilla and a fajita taco covered in white queso. Love it! The service is great every time I come and you don't have to wait long for your food. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! read more

El Basque has a plain, strip mall exterior, but a nice, slightly upscale interior. Service was good and the food came promptly. The chips & salsa were complimentary and okay. This is a great Mexican Restaurant! We tried it out based on someone from the bank telling us about it and now have been twice. The service is great, there is always someone refilling your drink, salsa, etc. before you need it. I ordered the Enchiladas al Carbon and my husband got their regular Enchiladas. Both dishes were just great. Even my 15 month old almost ate her whole enchilada. I highly recommend going during lunch since their lunch portion are just as big as the dinner portion but cost a little less. We order the same thing both times we went (once lunch, once dinner) and there was a $10 difference. They also serve personal sized chips with bean/cheese to each person during lunch time. read more
