This place surprised me. It's a chain, but if you want a quick and easy place to do happy hour after work in the Perimeter area, the setup is PERFECT for that. There's a nacho TRUCK. It's literally a built in half-truck jutting out of the wall, carrying a bar of chips, salsa, beans, queso, etc. It's totally cool, and totally free. Who else does that?! My friend and I split a "sampler platter" and it was more than enough for two people. Between that and the nacho truck, we were stuffed and the bill was only $10. I kid you not. If you ever need to go to a tex-mex chain for any reason, just pick this place. read more

First off, Chuy's has the best chips and salsa. They also have a creamy jalapeno ranch sauce that is the best. Way better than having queso. Speaking of, their queso uses yellow cheese and has diced tomatoes and other things in it. They're usually crowded but the wait is never bad and they have a free nachos bar weekdays 5-7pm. So during happy hour, you just buy a few drinks & get free nachos! It's as awesome as it sounds. They don't have traditional nachos on the menu, they have Panchos. Not my favorite because it's some large tortilla chips with individual toppings. Their chips are thin and have a nice flavor, same as taco shells. Decided to come here last night on a whim to get a Tex-mex fix. We've never been to this location but have been to Chuy's in Texas. There's plenty of parking as the restaurant has its own parking lot. On a Friday night, the restaurant was probably only one third full, so there was no wait. The first thing I noticed upon walking in was the dirty floors (silverware, napkins, chips, etc). Lots of dirty tables too.. with minimal staff in sight. Salsa is suuuuper fresh tasting and delicious. I didn't care for their jalapeño ranch sauce (honestly tastes like a dressing to me) or for the boom boom sauce which is highly reviewed. I will say my husband really likes the boom boom sauce. I ordered a skinny margarita which was OK - definitely tasted the sour mix. If I ever go back, I may try the sangria. Got the Friday special for my meal- chicken enchiladas with green chili avocado sauce. The chicken was extremely tender. The enchiladas were decent. Everyone else in our party got the boom boom enchiladas. We all thought the enchiladas were extremely spicy. Much spicier than expected and we eat spicy food all the time! Got the tres leches cake for dessert. It was decadent, rich, and delicious. Split between 4 people and we had trouble finishing it. The slice is HUGE. Not sure if I will be back considering I was turned off by how dirty the restaurant felt, mediocre service, and OK food. Rude as ever! Picture it.. you've gathered with your friends and it's been almost a year since you have laid physical eyes on each other. You have enjoyed your drinks and the food was served room temperature and kids side portion where served! You received your check at the end of the meal and all patrons have cashed out fully. 3 friends decide to go to the bathroom before we all make our exit from the restaurant to ensure our safety to our vehicles. Eric, a worker there comes blasting through the restaurant clapping his hands loud and abruptly screaming we are closed - get out - and takes one hand and gestures the cut throat signal. I have to say, the salsa was super fresh here. It had a nice kick to it as well. I ordered the shrimp tacos and I thought that it tasted standard. Nothing amazing at least. But I think it's a spot that I wouldn't mind falling back on for Mexican food because the salsa alone made the trip worth it IMO. I'm still on the hunt for the best Mexican food around in the Atlanta area. As far as service, they are typically busy. Although we didn't wait too long to sit, the time for our server to come to take orders and refill our waters took a little while. But again, they were busy so it was understandable. read more

"No hay caldo que no se enfríe" A Spanish proverb which translates to "Every broth eventually cools". And so my fascination with Chuy's. The food is good, done well, generous portions. The decor is fun, the atmosphere busy and loud. An employee busy making tortillas for all to see (just a little too close to the bathrooms). Not traditional Tex Mex, Chuy's has some unique flavors.The star for me are the Chile Rellenos, where Chuy's uses an Anahiem Chile as opposed to the usual Poblano. I have them every time. No one leaves hungry. The chips are thin, light and crisp. No draft beer, but good selection of Mexican bottled beers. (Come on Chuy's, get some cerveza on tap!) Special note to vegetarians, some of their sauces are made with chicken or beef stock, so make sure you ask before ordering. Service is usually good, but at times they are overwhelmed when busy. Have never had great service, but never really bad. Truly a three and a half star place. I could easily see why some would give four stars, some three. Some high points in food, some low points in service. Cool T shirts. When Chuy's first arrived in the ATL I was excited about it, but quickly lost that loving feeling. Will I be back? Sure. So yummy! A friend of mine suggested this place, as opposed to El Azteca, La Parrilla, and Uncle Julio's, when I said I wanted Mexican. The last time I checked this location was a Fire of Brazil so I was surprised when the GPS led me to this address. It was a beautiful surprise. The tortilla soup is great as an app and different from the one I make at home so it's a treat. I ordered the Elvis (#10) both times I've been. It comes with three enchiladas, cheese, chicken, and beef, and a beef taco. I love that the tortillas are handmade which adds to the authenticity even if they are making the usual American versions of Mexican favorites. The sauces are house made too, none of that canned stuff. The cheese enchilada comes with the classic red sauce, the chicken (my favorite) is wrapped in a blue corn tortilla with a green tomatillo sauce and the beef is cover in a mole type sauce. This is one of my all time favorites. The wild decor, the silly t-shirts, the incredibly delicious Tex Mex - I can't get enough. Time your visit strategically - the wait list can become lengthy. The chile rellenos are not to be missed! Battered and deep-fried, gooey, cheesy perfection. For an extra treat, get them with the deluxe tomatillo sauce. I order this dish every single time. I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night and sat outside. The restaurant was very clean and extremely colorful. The bathrooms were kept clean considering the time that I went (8pm). I ordered the Chicka -Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas which are enchiladas with pulled chicken and cheese and some sauce at the top. It comes with corn tortillas but I substituted it for flour tortillas. The sides were Mexican rice and beans. The dish was only ok, I've had better Enchiladas. The rice was too spicy for me and the beans were just beans. Nothing to order again. Two words: Creamy Jalapeño I came to Chuy's just for drinks and the Creamy Jalapeño dip that comes with the chips. I swear that stuff is made from angel tears or something. It's so delicious! Our server was the real MVP! Shoutout to Olivia who kept the chips and dip coming for our entire "meal". Seriously she brought us 4 baskets of chips and 5 Creamy Jalapeño dips. That's what I call great service! To accompany the chips and dip I ordered a classic margarita on the rocks and my friend ordered a frozen strawberry margarita. The classic margarita on the rocks was very strong. I asked for a sugar rim which helped take the bite away. My friend's frozen strawberry margarita was refreshing and yummy! The thing I love about Chuy's is how reliable the food quality is. The staff and service is also equally impressive and attentive. There is really nothing wrong with this store location except maybe the decor is a little dated and feels a bit greasy overall. I have been to this Chuy's location many times and I've never had a bad meal or bad service. However, today I had EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT service from a woman named Tracy! I came into the restaurant around 4pm which is an off time and kind of expected to get a tired waiter/waitress who was ready to end their shift. But boy did she surprise me! She was overtly excited and pleasant and was quick with any request I had. She even offered me a free sample of the queso because she insisted it went so well with the dish I ordered and I had never tried it! Love the Chips and Salsa Free self service station near the bar. Chips real thin - just the way I like them. They make their own tortillas on site. A few in our group said that the Margaritas had too much lime. There was a different jalapeno ranch sauce to dip chips in once we were seated. There is plenty to look at in this place with tons of different decor. I purchased a t-shirt before I found out that if you can find all of the 21 small red plastic monkeys put up around the place - they will give you a FREE shirt. Food was good and I love the way they give you your flatware - sealed and 3 special prayers on the back- Great idea! ( posted pics). Had a great time with family and good food. Such a let down. Being a recent Texas transplant we were SO excited to have a Texas favorite but sadly did not meet any of our bars. The wait staff was horrible. She never got me a water with my New Mexican martini(that was not a New Mexican) so I had to ask another server. She checked on us maybe 3x the entire meal. Never refilled our waters. Never asked if I wanted another drink, or refilled our chips. The food was okay.. definitely not what we were used to. Don't think we will be coming back here anytime soon at all. So I visited chuys for the first time the other day and I must say I truly enjoyed it. First and foremost the decor was so so interesting. If you are a picture taker like I am then you will have plenty of places to take good pictures. The food was good too. The drinks was a great size and delicious. I've passed by this place for years I'm glad I finally decided to stop by and see what it had to offer. The style of food was definitely Texmex. parking was plentiful and free. The greeter was really nice and we didn't have to wait long... maybe 10 minutes. Covid procedures were practiced. Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant, I ordered the Chicken Deluxe enchilada and was not warned on how disgusting the food was going to be. I complained to our waiter after about how awful the food was after 2 bites, (I made the whole table try the sauce on the enchilada, everyone agreed it was horrendous) our waiter Demarcus then says "Oh, I thought you would've known. I would've warned you if I knew you haven't been here." The meal was still kept on the bill even though it was basically inedible. Currently writing this from the restroom from how badly it has settled in my stomach. Never coming here again after the horrible service and food. read more

Just make sure your server is attentive. The food is good as always but when they get your order wrong or if you end up waiting for even your drinks. Three tables came in after us and three tables got their drinks and food before us. Asked for two things on the side and when it was brought to the table they were inside, not on the side. Then I ordered no tomatoes sure enough tomatoes on my plate. When it came time to pay again, miscommunication from the server. Discount should come off but she did not give it to us and instead she said the manager said they would have charge it again and we would have to wait for it so instead gave us a free queso card. I'm an Austin native who begun going to the original Chuy's location when I was in elementary school. Trust me, I know what Chuy's (and Tex-Mex in general) should taste like. I was visiting Atlanta and heard there was a Chuy's so I grabbed a fellow Texan and we decided to see if a Chuy's in another state was worth a visit. Wow. If I did a blind taste test, I wouldn't have been able to tell the original location on Barton Spring apart from this one. The one slight difference is that I thought the creamy jalepeno was slightly ranchier than usual (could've just been the batch though). The queso, deluxe tomatillo sauce, chips, tortillas, and beans all tasted the same, however. The same meaning good as hell. I devoured my entire plate and was stuffed--for like 10 bucks. Our server was so polite and friendly and brought out fresh chips and a salsa refill without us needing to ask. She was also able to accommodate a few modifications for me since I'm vegetarian. The margaritas are also $5 all day here, which was a pleasant surprise. I'm not sure they were that strong but they sure tasted good, so I won't hold it against the overall rating. read more

Emily R and I have returned a couple of times - it's one of her fave places and close to work - and the last two have just been no bueno. Last time, it was just so-so, food and drink wise, nothing remarkable in a good or bad way. Yesterday, it was just a bust. I was annoyed at the start when I asked for water - and waited 10 mins after she brought me chips and salsa. Gah. Then, I decided to go for the tacos al carbon (steak) and they. . . had green peppers. Which I despise. And which were not noted on the menu. Oh those free unlimited chips and salsa. Doesn't really matter what you order because you get free unlimited warm chips and fresh salsa. Did I mention that you get free chips and salsa? For many years, my co-workers would insist that we go to Chuy's any time we were in Texas. After becoming a fan, I would insist on going every time we were in Orlando. So we were excited when they opened in ATL and right in the heart of my regular stomping grounds. My co-workers used to always order the burritos...they're huge and delicious. I ordered it one time but was unable to finish it. I'm a pretty big eater so I was surprised that the burrito was so filling. And that day, I had only had about 4-5 bowls of the chips (fyi...they're fresh and free). I usually order the fajitas or enchiladas as a side to my free chips. The tortilla soup is also excellent with fresh cheese melted on top. And the guacamole is also top notch though it's hard to compete with chips and salsa. Everyone in our household loves Chuy's as they have something for everyone. And don't forget to check out their cool t-shirts at the front of the restaurant. This was my first time visiting a Chuy's location and I did not have very high expectations on the quality of the food from the onset. We were craving Mexican fare, with a location within the general vicinity of our house and happened upon this restaurant. The interior is....interesting. They've chosen to hang paintings and murals of some odd happenings, not fully sure how to describe them. They weren't poorly made, per se, just not what I would have expected from this chain. We were assisted by Ron, who was simply amazing, extremely attentive, helpful, and present. 100% recommend his service. The chips provided before the entrees were really, really good, They are thin and not greasy at all. The tomato dip was good, as was the queso, but the guacamole could use some additional spices. The entrees were good, I opted for the combo fajitas, with both chicken and steak. The tortilla was a little thick and the black beans looked a little dated, so I avoided trying them. I would have given no stars if that was an option. The food was dry and tasteless. The salad pico was limp, the enchilada sauce looked as dry as the caked beans on my plate. The "enchiladas" on the southwestern plate consisted of 3 stacked corn tortillas with a little bit of chicken and cheese in between. Dry dry dry. For $12 a plate I would expect something decent. Worst experience I've ever had at a chuy's or possibly any tex mex restaurant. I will never come here again. At least the queso and chips were good. That's it though. read more

Maybe I came in on a bad night. We came here last night for dinner and drinks. What drew us in was the $5 margaritas. I will start off by saying that it was awesome and tasty. However, the service wasn't the best. Came to a table and surprise, no napkins! I thought it was standard to prepare the table with that item. Shared an appetizer and yes, we had to remind the server to bring out small plates. This type of stuff shouldn't happen at any restaurant. Then it took forever to get the check.
