Notice the bottom of the can....could not even put this down. Have to ask, how do you screw up a an of soda to go?

Heard there is new ownership so had to give it a try, why not?! They do offer DoorDash delivery but why is Bedminster New Jersey the only place in the universe that doesn't deliver? Phone order on Friday evening was a bit like having a bad cellphone connection, but I can work with that. I'm embarrassed by now I cannot order Chinese food in perfect Mandarin dialect. Not sure how long this new ownership took over, but it sounds and feels recent. I walked in the wide open door and the emptiness swamped me. You could hear a fly hitting the window 30 feet away. The decor was based on large, open, unfurnished tile floor. To me, this amplified the emptiness and absence of patrons outside a mature 5:00 couple brazen enough to suggest a bottle of wine could make a airport restroom charm. I am not saying the restaurant even remotely resembles a restroom, it has design potential but so did my freshman college dorm room. But I'm all about the food. This food overall used a lot of heat and oil, a lot of oil. Way too much on all dishes. This is unhealthy cooking as served up this time. New Chu's Cafe badly missed my mark: Hot Spicy Jumbo Shrimp was supposed to have broccoli in it but menu change from on-line or so was one of a few misgivings in the aforementioned order entry process. It was tasty however and the vegetables and spices were good. Fried Rice with pork was overwhelmed with too much oil. Giant chunks of 'the other red meat', in fact Chinese food in general could benefit from use of that new 'non-meat, meat'. The stir fried beef and black pepper had the right flavor profile, very good but again the oil was way too much and the temperature may not have been high enough to actually fry the noodles which would have benefit from the crunch. Too little chunks of beef for a feature dish protein. Tasty but drowned in oil killed the overall dish. We also ordered fried vegetable dumpling. When we got there to pick up our takeout, we were offered a substitute which we selected as Shrimp Dumplings. They were steamed and not Fried, but tasted fishy and not appetizing. Everything was slippery from the phone, to walk-in without greeting, without joy of ownership, no gracious hospitality. More like a take-out joint in a strip mall.... Egg rolls were ok but the cabbage flavor came through more than it deserves to. So wanted to like you. Have been eating Chinese food in New Jersey over 60 years and House of Wong holds high bar locally in Bridgewater.

Been here many times, nice service and decent food. Price is good and has large portions.

Saturday lunch specials!!
Priscilla P.

Chu's has lunch specials Monday through Saturday - the Saturday lunch specials was an attention grabber for me! The lunch prices are super cheap, so we ordered about 5 specials between the 2 of us. The pictures make it look like you are getting so much food, however... the amount of food you get is like appetizer portion on a smaller plate... pretty much - you get what you pay for. The restaurant is nice, well-lit, and the staff is super friendly. The food was ok... not a fan of either of the 2 shrimp dishes I ordered (small shrimp and not very fresh), the flavor and crisp of the general tso's chicken was really good (although it could be way better if they used more white meat or just less fatty chicken), and the fried rice was flavorful and tasty. Overall, I would return again to try other lunch specials - since the prices are so cheap, I consider it like going out for tapas.

The sauce had just enough numbing warmth without overpowering the dish, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The texture combination of silky wrappers and bold sauce made it an unforgettable starter. Beyond the appetizer, the restaurant offered a warm atmosphere and attentive service that made the dining experience even better. The presentation was thoughtful, portions were generous, and the flavors tasted authentic and carefully prepared. If you enjoy dishes with a little spice and a lot of flavor, the wontons in chili oil are absolutely worth ordering. I would definitely come back just for them.

The standout for me was the Jiang Bei Hot Sauce Live Whole Fish, which was packed with flavor and absolutely worth ordering. You can split this dish amongst a whole family since the portions are huge! The General Tso's Chicken is always a classic, and I love the tender chicken drenched in tangy sauce. This is where things got a little tricky. We had a reservation but ended up waiting about 40 minutes past our reservation time to actually be seated. On a busy weekend, I understand restaurants can get slammed, but waiting 40 minutes after having a reservation is frustrating. It seems like their weekend reservation situation can get a little chaotic, so just be prepared to practice your patience. Once we were seated, the staff was fine and the service was efficient. Overall, I'll return for the food or get takeout but just be prepared to wait a bit.

Both the dim sum menu and a lunch menu with standard Chinese restaurant fare were available. My party got the general tso's chicken from the lunch menu, and it was exceptional. Good-quality white meat with just enough spice. Heads up, though, the lunch dishes don't come with rice, so order that separately. From the dim sum menu, we ordered braised tripe with ginger & scallion, fried shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, steamed chicken buns, and crab meat soup dumplings. The braised tripe was a standout. It was cooked in a light yet flavorful sauce of ginger and scallion with the tripe's own broth. The delicateness of the sauce worked perfectly with the tripe. The dumplings were all great, especially the soup dumplings. The steamed chicken bun was the only thing I'd skip. It was on the heavier side, and the filling was just okay. The bill came out to about what I expected for the amount of food we ordered--$65 before tip. The service was friendly, and taking our order and getting the food was quick. After the food arrived, though, it was a little difficult to flag down a server to order more and later to get the check. Still, it was understandable given how busy they were, constantly collecting orders and putting out food. Overall, Canton Palace is a great find for anyone looking for this style of Chinese food outside of the usual New York neighborhoods.

As someone who cooks I was extremely disappointed. I should have sent back but they didn't seem to have any interest in our experience & there was a language barrier. Gets a star because hot and sour soup was fine and was heated appropriately and the sesame chicken with broccoli was good. Also can't give zero stars here...... wish I could. They charge $4 for rice and then grudgingly package it with leftovers. Entire restaurant had open tables but they stuck us against the servers alley that leads to kitchen. We had the staff behind us at a large table chattering away loudly while we tried to eat and talk. It was a mess. My husband paid the server in cash. They attempted to keep our change. I had to repeat myself multiple times asking for our change to come back. It almost seemed deliberate. So unprofessional. And yet my kind husband tipped the waitstaff generously; he's far kinder than I would have been. Not a class act restaurant. Will NEVER go back. REGRET that we chose this restaurant on our day out. =(
