The restaurant is dirty. The wait time is ridiculous. The customer service is horrible. Items that I ordered were missing. When I went back one of the employees had an attitude. I like Church's. Have since I was a kid long ago. I decided to try the location on 31st even though many people told me to skip it. Went through the drive through. All I wanted was a two piece snack box. The Texas 2-Piece Feast. Two pieces of chicken, a biscuit, dipping sauce, and a jalapeño. Had to repeat myself many times when I ordered. Finally got the super fast talking person to stop talking and understand me. I thought. Got to the window and paid and left. Price was good. When I got home I had three pale strips, the biscuit and jalapeño, but no sauce or napkin. I repeated the sauce choice 2 or 3 times. I now get what my friends meant....poor service, chicken that's not cooked right, and I didn't get everything I ordered...on a ridiculously simple order!!! Lesson learned. read more

Worst and most unsettling experience I've ever had. I was screamed at simply because they were short-staffed. When I asked for honey, I was told I'd have to order more biscuits. On top of that, they were out of sweet tea, Dr. Pepper, and jalapeños. To make matters worse, I was told the lobby was closed and questioned about how I got in - despite the door being unlocked and the "Open" sign clearly displayed. They were visibly upset that I took too long to order and literally yelled at me. When I calmly asked them to stop yelling, I was told I "didn't understand." I expressed that I felt unsafe due to their behavior and requested a refund. Instead of resolving the situation, one employee sarcastically told the other to "just give her a whole box of honey." I was only met with rude service about my order and blatant disregard for the consideration I was giving to warn of my large order. I must start by saying I love Church's Chicken. That being said this is the worst Church's I have ever been too. The wait is always insane! If you don't have 25 minutes to wait don't go here. What I love about Church's is that it's juicy, well seasoned and delicious , well it's all those things at every location but this one. The breading is so thick/hard and flavorless, the chicken is dry. The staff doesn't seem to know what the difference between thigh and breast is. I'm newer to Temple and I am so disappointed that Chicagoland Church's locations are all better than one in Texas the home state of the restaurant. read more

The chicken tasted of old oil, they forgot 2 different side orders on a $50 pre-order, and when I drove up initially, they had the doors locked while they were cleaning the floor. Let that sink in. They had the doors locked while they were cleaning the floor...during normal hours of operation. As I walked up to the doors to find they were locked, the the individual whom I presume was the manager was eating next to the window and never made eye contact or made any effort to communicate with me. At the same time, an old man wearing street clothes who was the one cleaning the floor (looked homeless) was throwing items around and very clearly cursing at me to other workers. It was clear they just wanted me to go away. I tried the other door and same scenario. No signage, no pantomimed customer reaction...just bristled anger that someone would come pick up an order. I was $50 into this so wasn't going away that easily. So...I went to the drive in and the first contact was made so I could pick up my phoned in order. They taped my order closed so I couldn't check it, and said 4 of the nine words spoken to me during the 10 minute interaction. To recap...bad food, stunningly bad service, and more anger on my part for fast food workers demanding $15/hr to give you really bad service. It wasn't even worth calling to complain about the missing items. I don't want their food or any attempts to make amends. Recommend other folks go down the road to Zaxby's. Their food and customer service are exemplary. If the owner reads this, I'm sorry for you. Your manager couldn't get any worse and your investment comes off like a piece of garbage. Recommend you close the doors for a couple weeks, fire everyone, get a new crew, train them, and replace your nasty fry oil. That, or await eventual bankruptcy. So, tonight my husband and I go to this location to pick up a remake that was from earlier today. The food I got earlier was cold, and I only got a half container of gravy for the tenders I got not to mention the store was not busy, and I had no one behind me in the drive thru, but was asked to drive to the front and wait after I have been waiting 20 minutes already... Well, I waited another 20 minutes, and when I finally got my order, the girl who brought the food states that she is sorry, but she forgot that she asked me to pull around! I called the store and spoke to "van", and when I went to explain my issue, she interrupted me saying that she would replace my entire order. Well we go back tonight after I called and spoke to Edith (manager) and not only did she dismiss my issue (because she was super busy with her whopping 4 orders), but we waited about 15 minutes to be acknowledged at the counter, the cashier asked my husband to get another customer's attention, Edith snatched my receipt from earlier and started to replace it, Edith complained about another customer complaining while customer's were still in the store, AND Edith proceeded to tell us that church's normally does not replace all items, but she will do it this once. I highly recommend staying away from this chicken joint! They just remodeled and the place looks nice, but you can't try making the place look better on the outside, and keep the same bad people on the inside. You will never get my business again Church's. Went here to get food for myself and some coworkers. Cashier girl was nice. They were short on chicken when I placed my order. Had to wait 15 minutes for fresh chicken for my order. The manager lady in the back that was dropping the chicken was very rude when the cashier asked if she could drop the chicken for my order. The lady that was dropping the chicken then said well they just gonna have to wait for them when i already knew I was gonna have to wait. I was going to go through drive but there was about 6 cars in line so I went in. there were 2 people in front of me. after about 5 minutes they both left and 2 other people came inside because one was shorted 8 or 16 tenders and they had to cook them. the other said she had been sitting in line for 25 minutes so she just wanted her food. I stood there at least 10 minutes and no one even looked in my direction other than 2 guys that were in the back that came up front. they were so mixed up on orders. a person behind me also said forget it and left. if I hadn't wanted a roll so bad I would have left. finally a lady with purple hair which I assume was a manager or supervisor finally turned around and took my order. handed me my drink and food without even looking at me. never said a word. I took my good and left. sure won't be going back here and will tell my friends to be prepared for terrible service. read more

Not nearly enough parking and to the to most spots you have to wait in the drive through traffic. Ordered 2, 2 piece requesting chicken breasts in both, got to the table and neither had a chicken breast. I complained and showed the manager the biggest piece which had dark meat and she said it was a chicken breast. The other piece was not distinguishable as a piece of chicken. The manager brought a chicken breast and this one was but it as so small I doubt there was 3 oz of meat on it. The other piece had about an oz of meat. After eating the tid bits of meat, I had a box full of fried coating and bones. Everybody in our party of 10 had the same lack of meat. I can understand how it was difficult to place chicken breasts in the box because there is so much fried coating you can't tell one piece from another. Previously, I had great service at this location with veteran staff in the evening. Today I went to try the new chicken sandwich. I ordered spicy and received a regular. I informed the young lady at the drive thru and crew apologized. I was given a spicy. I took a bite before leaving the parking lot. The sandwich was COLD! I parked and informed the girl who answered the front door ( dining room is closed due to Covid). The manager apologized and said she would get me a fresh sandwich. By this time I'm late going back to work. I receive a fresh chicken sandwich and it's the original. I knock on the door and a veteran employee apologized and said they had new people. I ask for my money back at this point. The manager says she has a fresh one in her hand for me and can keep both. It shouldn't take over 30 minutes and 4 sandwiches to get one that's edible. Also new employees need to pull up their pants. No one wants to see your butt hanging over your pants. The ball was dropped today big time. I decided to try this Church's on So 31st Street to be sadly disappointed. The drive-thru speaker was unclear and the girl spoke very quickly. I wasn't asked if I wanted spicy or regular chicken strips, or gravy or a dipping sauce. I had to ask for ketchup. When I got to my destination I found my chicken strip meal included spicy strips and no gravy. This was a dry meal that left a "bad taste in my mouth." Back to Chick-Fil-A I go!!! read more

Went to Church's Chicken a few days ago and ordered a family meal of a 16 piece mix and told the drive thru guy I wanted 2 mash and 1 Mac-n-cheese with the 2 1/2 gallon drinks. They gave me 2 lg sides and biscuits which I did not ask for. I explained to the drive thru I did not order the alternative with biscuits that I ordered 3 lg sides. He gives me a mash and immediately the manager stops what she's doing, comes to the window and was demanding she has to charge me for the mash potatoes. I tried explaining to her the guy messed up my order, but she wouldn't listen and said she didn't care. She got in my face from the window telling me I'm going to have to pay for it because it will come out of her pocket and she ain't having it come out of her pocket. I gave the potatoes back and told her it will come out of her pocket because now she can't sell them. Then I tried to talk to the guy after she walked away and was going to tell him I will give back the biscuits and get the mash I ordered to begin with. But she ordered him to shut the window on me. Slow service and overcooked chicken. The people who work there can be pretty rude at times and my chicken tonight was overcooked and not very tasty. Their food is really hit and miss. If you are able to go on a day when the chicken is fresh and they don't overcook it then it can be quite good. Unfortunately that happens less than fifty percent of the time and today was not one of those days. I'd recommend that you go to Bushes instead. The employees at Bushes have always been very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The chicken there isn't good one hundred percent of the time either but they are polite and friendly and will do their best to give you what you want without being rude. This is absolutely the poorest excuse of a chicken restaurant I have ever seen. I work for a caregiving place that helps idd people and everytime we go there they are either out of everything, they are rude, and this time was a doozy. We were in the drive thru for 30 minutes. The girl did not give us a receipt. The manager argued with me about she always trains her people to give a receipt. I was trying to be patient as she walked away from me and did not let me know she was getting my rolls for the meals I purchased. Then I tried to get my drinks and receipt again which ended in a shouting match. This sweet young man who looked horrified of this manager took the receipt from by where this girl was sitting and gave it to me. Then he poured my drinks. The manager said he would be called in back for doing this. I informed her that I was going to call corporate on her and that this young man better not get in trouble for doing his job. I just want to be able to get my people their food without a lot of hassel, I would never eat at this chicken place myself as they all have poor service. I even had a threat that they would call the police on me and this one woman threatened to beat me up. What a weird day. It's not a dream but it sure did feel like it. I will never go there again, I quit coming here back in 2010 , decided to give it another try 5yrs later, , it hasn't changed since 2010 , ordered the 14 piece meal , they said it would be 20min wait please drive around and park in front and they would bring it out, set there for the 20 min, went in thinking they would at least give me a drink, they did it, was the infant 6oz cup, they needed to cook the chicken, needless to say 45 min later im still there waiting , it is a chicken place and on a Sunday afternoon , of course the big meals are going to sell so you cook more chicken, if they are to stupid to figure that out shut the place down. read more
