They make good fried chicken. These are better then Popeyes but unfortunately they have closed a lot of stores so I mostly go to Popeyes. If they had more stores... They are crunchier and not as greasy. They also have a different taste but I can't describe it other then I like it better. The restaurant is clean and the service was fine, but it is a fast food place so I rank it against other ff places and they are fine. I do drive a half hour out of my way to go here. read more

My son and I were in Modesto, CA yesterday and I told him that we were going to try out the new Church's Chicken on Standiford Road, Modesto Let me tell you what, the chicken tenders were good sized, tasty and hot. I love church's but my order tonight, I am so disappointed in the service and that once I got home, I wasn't even given biscuits that were a part of my order. The restaurant part was closed and I ordered through a pick up window even though business hours were opened for another hour. Ordered a simple 8 piece leg and thigh family meal with one side. 4 biscuits were a part of this meal but was not in my box once I got home and received a mixed instead of just legs and thighs. Chicken was also cold like it was sitting there for a while. I asked for hot sauce and the lady at the window shows me an empty metal tray when I clearly see sauce packets on the other side. She was just lazy to turn around to grab any. She just pushed the bag towards me and said everything is there and they are out of sauce. I've never felt more scammed by a business. How does one even call to get a refund for my missing items? Once home I was so disappointed that biscuits were not in there, chicken was cold and wasn't what I had ordered. Of all the different chicken chains out there, Church's gets my vote for "good value." Since competition is great, of course I cannot say that it is the very best in terms of taste and innovation. But this place does not cost an arm and a leg, like Howlin' Ray's in Chinatown. The chicken batter was very bland, no spices at all (crispy and fresh but flavorless) and I should of devour it with pleasure since I was celebrating surviving a detox, lol. Got fried chicken spicy version yesterday. They gave me refried old chicken. It was dry with a stale smell. It wasn't noticeable when it was warm, and it became more evident as it got cooler. I got sick in the middle of the night with a stomach ache with multiple bathroom visits. I ordered fried chicken multiple times here, but this time, I fell in the trap. Owners, if this happens again, I will have to forward your case to the Department of Public Health with a strong justification against your license, documenting all necessary evidence. There's a special juiciness and crunch to their recipe that makes this Texas joint stand out among its competitors like KFC, grocery store chains, and Popeyes. PLUS They always have specials, and the best part is you can see them making the chicken through the glass windows. Came in today 7/23/23 around 12 noon on my lunch break. there was one lady that had already ordered, left shortly after i arrived.there was no one else in there. Tenders here are my lazy way to get chicken but the fried is great still. The hot sauce and ketchup combo is a must. We came shortly after opening so it makes sense everything was so fresh. The cashier took my order. I ordered 3 tender combo. Got okra with it and then never got a drink. I assumed it would come with my food. When I came to pick up she said coke here... I was never even asked what I wanted but I took it. My friend got 3 pieces of chicken. We asked for hot sauce and the cashier gave us 2 packets of ketchup and hot sauce. We asked for a lot. She gave us 2 more or each. We said we want a lot... she told us no. We don't give more than that. You have enough for what you bought. Service is definitely why the rating took a hit.
