The farm land is huge and the animals are all well behaved so even if you're scared, you won't be for long. We took the Girl Scout troop on an outing here and the girls loved it. Kadeem is really eager about introducing farm life to city kids and helping make the comfortable and knowledgeable. I loved the way he allowed them to interact with the animals in ways they would never be able to other places. He does not restrict the kids and uses everything as a learning opportunity. My daughter was upset we had to leave without the alpaca. We will definitely be returning again. They also do petting zoo and horse rides for parties. He was so nice to even walk with my daughter bc she was scared to ride. 10/10 I definitely recommend to anyone looking for an up close, personal. Memorable animal experience!

The kids area looked to be updated with a toddler slide, and the big slide was fast and fun!!! I will definitely be back. They were constantly walking back and forth, checking things out, so I always felt like my kids were safe. 2. This indoor aquatic center is open year-round, so kids have a place to splash, wade and swim even when it's freezing outside. The day I visited, the water temperature was nice and warm, and the ambient air temp was just as inviting. 3. It's really inexpensive. Prices range from $4 to $6 dollars depending on age and the day you visit. Kids 2 and younger are free. 4. This is a small indoor water park, but it's big enough to have fun for hours. Now for the negatives: 1. This indoor water park is really old and in need of an update, and it shows. The playground structures in the water area are visibly rusted and look dirty. 2. The lock to the bathroom / changing room I was in DID NOT LOCK. It goes without saying that their changing rooms should have working locks. I had to stand by the door to block it, hoping that no one would try to come in! It also didn't have a trash can, for some reason. 3. The hallway to the changing room was super dark and didn't have any lights. Pretty much the last place you want to be changing in is a dark and creepy room. Fix the lightbulbs! This is another simple thing that could be fixed if they kept up the place. 4. They don't allow outside food or drinks inside the aquatic center. You can buy food and drinks at their snack bar, but when I was there (on a weekend), it was closed. Not sure what they expect visitors to do with a closed snack bar during operating hours. I like that Indy offers places like Indy Island so kids can enjoy swimming and playing in the water indoors. But this place is in need of some TLC in order to compete with some of the other indoor aquatic centers.

Located along Buck Creek on the far east side, the park is sponsored by the Lions Club. What makes this park hard to review is that it appears to be undergoing a transformation. I didn't see any master plan kiosk that would share the vision, so I could only go by my own observation where some of the equipment looks much newer than the pieces in the back. There also appears to be new bridges that span the creek and there is straw spread along the paved walkways that looks like they are trying to grow grass. But at this point, there wasn't much green poking through. There are a couple shelters and two playgrounds, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and pathways that run by the creek. Like many of the parks I visited today, the recent rains had created a high water problem and much of the park was a bit squishy if you got off the paved paths. So, for the pieces that look new, I am encouraged. But some of the older pieces, including the shelters, could use some attention and use of the park is definitely subject to water levels of the creek. Review #779

There were two birthday parties occurring simultaneously, our group of 4 and 5 year olds along side another group of what appeared to be much larger older kids (maybe 8 or 9 year olds?) each group had well over a dozen members. The staffing was painfully sparse and consisted of merely a front desk woman and two teens on the gym floor. Upon arrival, we were greeted and immediately asked to fill out a waiver. I did inform the employee that this was our first visit. After receiving lack-luster instruction of rules and guidelines, we removed both mine, and my daughter's shoes/ socks, then headed to the tumbling room floor. Once on the floor, one of the teen employees approached quickly informing me, "All parents, except birthday child's parents, are to go upstairs in the viewing area." I was very hesitant to leave my 4 year old daughter and decided to mostly obey the girl's request by moving to the sidelines near the door. Once off to the side, I noticed NONE of the other 6 "non-birthday child parents" were asked to leave!! Not wanting to make a scene, I continued to watch carefully from the floor entrance. Here is what I witnessed: The teen girl employee only actively monitored one trampoline that was immediately in front of the foam pit. She repeatedly instructed my daughter to wait in line but did not appear at all concerned about how many children were already actually in the foam pit! I was very concerned because I did not want any of the little kids crushed by the much larger, considerably heavier older kids. While It is not reasonable to expect two girls to monitor a whole gym with over two dozen children running and jumping; it is also unreasonable to expect a small child to understand protocol and expectations in an alien environment. Why not allow parents to monitor their kids in an unobtrusive manner? Is it so difficult to also be consistent with the application of rules? I felt singled out, discriminated against and unwelcome. I had high hopes for Gymnastics Unlimited as a local, future scheduled, energy burn-off activity for my daughter but after today's off-putting experience, we will not be returning and would not recommend the facility to anyone wanting a safe experience for their young child.

Indy Parks continues its upward trajectory by building yet another great playground and community center. Grassy Creek Environmental Education Center and Playground is not only a mouthful to say, but it's a badly needed resource in the far east side of Indy. There's no other playground like this in Indy! There's this huge wooden owl in the middle of the playground, and tucked under his little wooden wings are musical instruments. There's a towering treehouse-looking play structure with a giant tunnel slide and giant regular slide. There's a rope climber, swings, an area for toddlers, accessible playground equipment and lots more. Nature themes have been incorporated into the design of the playground, like real wooden beams and animal tracks printed on the playground structures. The whole play area has a soft ground: either artificial turf or a rubberized surface. Inside the community center, there's a bird-watching room, with a big window looking out onto the bird feeders. There are also photos of the birds you might see, as well as activity sheets. The rest of the community center is classrooms and conference rooms. The intention is that this place will hold classes and camps, but I'm not sure they're up and running yet, because this place just opened last week. The community center has limited hours, but the playground and park is open from dawn to dusk. There's also a trail behind the park that goes around a wetlands area. In the future, the trail is supposed to connect to Grassy Creek Trail, which goes from County Line Road to the east and Mitthoefer Road to the west. This is definitely a must-visit place, even if you only visit the playground.
