I went here with my daughter and my seven-year-old grandson. It is called The Treehouse. It is…read morelocated at Plainfield Christian Church. It is at the children's center. Door 5 around back. There only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 to 11 and 1 to 3. For children ages 2 to 12 years old. When entering you have to check in at the kiosk or the front desk. The place that looks like a large treehouse with two different floors, three slides, and plenty of things to do within the treehouse. The top level with the two big slides are for kids 5 and up Because you have to climb a ladder to get to the second level. There is an area for the kids under two to play with all kinds of toys. Lots of things for kids to play on and play with such as a kitchen with all the fixing grocery carts that seem to be the most popular area. Also, there was a book rack that you could sit down and read a book and comfortable chairs and couches with large Ottomans. Blocks and small basket ball hoop. There is also a kitchen so parents you can get you a cuppa coffee or water or hot chocolate and watch your kids play. They also have snacks for the little ones, there is a refrigerator. The bathroom is in the same area so no leaving the room.

The Recreation center is great for all ages and all activities! They have park space,…read moreindoor/outdoor pools and water slides, in addition to a workout facility. The facility itself is relatively new (I heard some people in the gym talking about having been going there for 20 years)! The gym maintains their gym equipment. In addition, they maintain the grounds really well. Someone is always patrolling the parking lot, Splash Island and cleaning the indoor areas. They offer various classes, including fitness and summer classes for the kids!!! Some other amenities I didn't expect -- lap swimming pool (indoor and outdoor), a lazy River and full free weight squat and bench racks. All staff are incredibly helpful and this place does a nice job training. It employs all ages and they host an annual "Getting Ready"-type training in the summer that prepares the lifeguard staff before opening. They're also fairly active on Facebook and good about communicating closings/delays. A great high school or college job for students. It's worth the price too! Any commercial gym membership costs the same for residents to just be a member here!

We attended a trial class for my six year old. Staff was dismissive to both my daughter and myself…read morewhen I attempted to introduce her. Coaches weren't engaging at all with any of the girls, from what I observed. The only time I saw a coach smile was when she was cracking a joke about one of the girls who was complaining about an exercise. My daughter received very little instruction for the majority of the class and was left trying to figure out how to do most things on her own. At one point she was told to jump at the bar and use her arms to lift herself up so her hips rested at the bar. The coach then focused on other girls for ten minutes. The bar came up to my daughter's forehead and was impossible for her to do. So she spent ten minutes of the class standing at the bar jumping and struggling with no more assistance or direction. This seemed to happen a few times where girls in the class were too short for multiple pieces of equipment and weren't being assisted, or even really monitored, while using it. I've used the gym before for open gym play and birthday parties so I was really disappointed in how the class went.

This is one of the best parks I've visited in central Indiana, and if you look at my Yelp review…read morehistory, you'll see I've visited a lot of parks! This lady knows her parks, mmmkay? Hummel Park in Plainfield is impressive for many reasons: it's huge (205 acres!), it has multiple playgrounds (like 4!), it has a splash pad, it has a baseball field and basketball courts, it has a great area to creek stomp with lots of shallow places for kids to wade, it has paved walking trails, it has a bridge, it has a amphitheater, it has clean restrooms, and a lot more that I'm forgetting. Also, it's really clean and well-taken-care-of. People with kids definitely need to visit this park. Like I said, there are four different playgrounds, so you could spend a lot of time here going from playground to another. The biggest playground area is located in the southeast part of the park. This playground includes a vintage twirly slide, but also a more modern playground structure with multiple slides, tunnels, bridges, monkey bars, poles to slide down and rope ladders to climb up. The playground is accessible to kids of all abilities, and includes a ramp entrance into the playground structure. This part of the park also has swings, including a saucer swing, as well as a separate playground for toddlers, and a big sand box. The splash pad is located in this area of the park, too. It's a great size for toddlers. I wouldn't visit this park just for the splash pad, because there are other parks in the area with bigger splash pads, but it's nice that there's one here and that it's so close to the playground. There is another playground near the performing arts center, which includes a toddler playground and a playground for bigger kids. A short walk away from this playground is a nature playground, with manufactured boulders and rope webs that kids can climb and explore. Paved trails offer an easy walk or stroll. As you meander through the park, you'll probably cross over a bridge that's suspended over White Lick Creek, which runs through the middle of this park, and it flows from the north part of the park to the south part. There are five small lakes within Hummel Park, including Blue Heron Lake. Hummel Park is also a great place to go creek stomping, because the creek bed includes many shallow areas where kids can wade in the water. I've heard that the sledding hill at Hummel Park is amazing, so I'll have to visit in the winter with my kids.

This is a nice park, equipped with a playground, pickle ball courts, a bathroom facility, a…read moreshelter, and baseball fields. It covers 25 acres. The playground is nice and pretty spread out. The equipment is not the newest, but it is well maintained There is a small jungle gym (for younger kids) with a small rock climbing wall and slide. Also in that area you will find a a carriage shaped monkey bar, a merry go round, two banks of traditional swings and some rocking vehicles and animals. Right next to that area is a bigger jungles gym for older kids (it did not intimidate my 2 year old though). It has a barn yard them and has a bunch of slides and bridges and stairs. In that area you will also find a maze, sit and spins, a bank of traditional settings and rocking animals. The shelter, which can be rented, is right by the larger kid play area and has picnic tables under it and a grill right outside of it. The shelter also has a wood over inside of it. It is a very nice shelter. There are 8 very nice pickle ball courts here. Four on each side, divided by a semi-covered sitting/waiting/spectating area. The courts were very busy. The park is home to 4 lighted baseball fields. The fields are very nice and they were having some little league girls games going on while I was there. Good luck finding a parking spot when they have baseball or softball going on. There were a good amount of spots near the playground area though. Even though they are not officially part of the park, there a some tennis courts, that belong to Plainfield Community Middle School, which borders the backside of the park. They were open while I was there and are pretty well maintained. This park has pockets of green space that can be used to toss a ball, have a picnic, run around, or have a football/soccer game. And as an added bonus, even though the park does not have a designated trail, it does have some pretty good paved paths that can be put together to get a decent walk or run in. This is not your newest park, but it is a very good traditional park with a lot of amenities. It is a solid park that the little ones will enjoy for hours.
