It also has a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a grill that you can rent. I have been to a few kid birthday parties here. The playground equipment is very modern and well kept. There are swings, slides and jungle gyms. Most of the equipment is under some tarp shading. There are also park benches around the playground where parents can sit and watch the kiddos play. There is a small paved walking path around the park. I would not recommend it for the serious runner however, because you would be doing a lot of laps. The park also has a decent sized private parking lot and a well maintained basketball court. And if it could not get any better, they have a bathroom on site as well. What more could you want. Even though this park is available all year long, it is best during the summer.

The equipment is not the newest, but it is well maintained There is a small jungle gym (for younger kids) with a small rock climbing wall and slide. Also in that area you will find a a carriage shaped monkey bar, a merry go round, two banks of traditional swings and some rocking vehicles and animals. Right next to that area is a bigger jungles gym for older kids (it did not intimidate my 2 year old though). It has a barn yard them and has a bunch of slides and bridges and stairs. In that area you will also find a maze, sit and spins, a bank of traditional settings and rocking animals. The shelter, which can be rented, is right by the larger kid play area and has picnic tables under it and a grill right outside of it. The shelter also has a wood over inside of it. It is a very nice shelter. There are 8 very nice pickle ball courts here. Four on each side, divided by a semi-covered sitting/waiting/spectating area. The courts were very busy. The park is home to 4 lighted baseball fields. The fields are very nice and they were having some little league girls games going on while I was there. Good luck finding a parking spot when they have baseball or softball going on. There were a good amount of spots near the playground area though. Even though they are not officially part of the park, there a some tennis courts, that belong to Plainfield Community Middle School, which borders the backside of the park. They were open while I was there and are pretty well maintained. This park has pockets of green space that can be used to toss a ball, have a picnic, run around, or have a football/soccer game. And as an added bonus, even though the park does not have a designated trail, it does have some pretty good paved paths that can be put together to get a decent walk or run in. This is not your newest park, but it is a very good traditional park with a lot of amenities. It is a solid park that the little ones will enjoy for hours.

Every Wednesday and Thursday from 10-11:30 a.m. is the drop-in time for young kids, ages 0 to 6. It's $5 per child. Kids are free to try everything that the gymnastics studio has to offer: trampolines (there are several in several sizes), foam block pits, swinging ropes, balance beams, uneven bars, soft mats, ramps, balls -- it's all so fun. It's a great place to come when the weather is cold and your child needs to run around and burn off energy. The drop-in time is especially great for toddlers and preschoolers. This is a pretty big gymnasium, so there's lots of space to move around. It can get crowded at certain times (like during Christmas break and spring break), but there's plenty of space and it never feels super crowded. They play fun Disney music, too!

I have my own skates, so I didn't rent, but they have plenty of skates available for rental. They also have skate-walkers (not sure what they're called) that can be helpful for kiddos learning to keep their balance. While we were there, a lot of the arcade games were broken/out of order, but we still found some to play like skeeball. Sometimes kids were stopping on the floor when they shouldn't have been or started going backwards. I wish staff would've spoken up more about that because it was an accident waiting to happen! But maybe they're more enforcing of the rules during open skating a than private fundraising events. In other terms of safety, there was a police officer on site for security. The music was a mix of things but a lot of pop songs the kids were singing along to. The staff hosted some games that the kids enjoyed along with the open skate time. All in all, we had a great time and would come back!

In addition to the center (more on that in a moment), there's a large outdoor playground/park, ample parking, covered picnic tables, and a nice pathway to walk the grounds and be in nature. A friend of mine hosted her baby shower here, and it was the perfect spot for a large group! I'm not sure if there's just one space you can book, but the room we used was very large, with several round tables. She booked a DJ, set up food, decorated the area, and it all came together beautifully. I also read that there's a bird-watching room, which is pretty neat - thanks to Mariah M.'s review for that detail. It's a great place to bring little ones or just to enjoy a peaceful retreat into nature.

It's a 13-acre park smack dab in the middle of the SoBro area. This is a definite residential park with parking that's pretty interesting - it's essentially around the perimeter of the park. This is a very wooded park. It's actually a pretty heavily utilized park and there's very few times that I drive by here that I don't actually see people at the park. This park was purchased by the City of Indianapolis in 1928 (Fun fact: Original price was $19,915). It resulted from a desire for a park in the area east of what's known as Meridian Kessler. Early development came from such projects as the New Deal jobs programs and the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. Arsenal Park offers a variety of activities including basketball courts, a bicycle polo course, a multipurpose field, a splash pad, playground, a shelter and a comfort station. Arsenal Park was purchased by the City of Indianapolis in 1928 following community interest in establishing a park in the area east of the Meridian Kessler neighborhood. Much of the early development of the 11-acre park was done through New Deal jobs programs like the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s. This park offers basketball courts, a bicycle polo course, a community garden, a multipurpose field, a splash pad, playground equipment, a shelter, and a comfort station. However, the playground is fairly accessible. Overall, this is a solid 4-star park that could easily be developed into a 5-star park with some love, attention, and vision. I typically do feel safe in this park, though the bike area can get a bit congested. It's surrounded by houses and pretty open concept.

It sits on what use to be old tennis courts. It looks like it was put together using items that were found laying around. It has rails, ramps, stairs and other pieces that I do not know the name of. It may be makeshift, but it works. There were people shredding (is that still the word) when I was there. The park also have a restroom facility and a couple of shelters with picnic tables under it and grills outside of them. There is also a very nice water park there. It seems relatively new. There are benches over there that are shaded by canopies where parents can sit and watch their littles play. The park also has a lot of green space that could be used for activities such as football, soccer, flying a kite, or having a picnic. The park's full basketball court has seen better days. It will do for those wanting to just throw up a few shots. The court could use a fresh coat of paint though. Of course the park has a playground. It is on a bed of wood chips and consists of a few pieces of older traditional equipment. It is not a very big area. Some of the equipment includes a bank of traditional/toddler swings, an accessible medium sized jungle gym with slides, and a spinning net climber. The splash pad makes this park a destination park for some. It is a nice traditional park that has a lot to offer.
