Due to a drink spilled on the floor in the snack area with NO wet floor sign, i fell and broke BOTH of my wrists! I wish that ZERO stars was an option, The owner wouldn't call me back. I missed several days of work, as well as incurring some astronomical hospital and surgery bills, having 2 surgeries on one wrist and casts on BOTH = not very convenient for an American Sign Language Interpreter to say the least. It looked like a nicely kept rink, has great reviews, and also has a fantastic birthday package. On the day of our party, I realized they had several birthday parties booked. However, I quickly learned how extremely organized and efficient they are. There was not a single thing that I had to do, other than skate and have a good time with our party of friends and family. Our guests were instructed to check their gifts in at the concession stand, and they put them all into a giant tote and put them back for safe keeping. I was told what time they would announce her birthday on the floor and bring her cake out to sing Happy Birthday. From there, they led us back to where our tables were set with plates, sodas, napkins, and forks. When everyone had gathered, they brought out the pizzas with spatulas so we could serve ourselves. I noticed them cutting up the cake and plating it as we enjoyed our pizza. As they served us each slices of cake, I was told to let them know when we were ready for gifts and they would bring them out. When we were all finished, they were happy to put her gifts in the back again so I could skate and retrieve the presents when we left. This is a clean and very well-kept skating rink. The rental skates are in good shape, and they're happy to help you with tightening or loosening wheels. Even the bathrooms were clean and well kept. I wish I had taken more photos for my review, but we were having so much fun, I completely forgot. Sorry Yelpers! You'll just have to go and experience this one for yourselves!

It could use some landscaping, emptying of trash cans and renovation of the fields and tennis courts. They have a community center, a ball field, tennis courts in the back and an aquatic center. They also have a playground and two covered pavilions that you can rent for events. The pavilions do come with some strict rules though. The pavilions and their picnic tables are in dire need of a thorough pressure washing. You can however, fish in the lake. I saw someone doing it while I was there, but I am not sure how well stocked it is though. On a positive note, the recreation staff is very friendly and there is ample parking. The lake has blue benches all around that you can stop, rest and take it all in. There are ducks all over the place....I really mean all over the place. Almost too many of them.

The bumper cars are more like CrAzY cars, they don't always go in the direction you want them to... I'm not sure if that's on purpose or not but it made for some pretty hilarious videos! I pre purchased our tickets online, you can choose your day/time slot and it's $5 per person... when you arrive and check-in you're given a colored wrist band(every hour is a different color), then you wait in line for your turn on the ice. Once on the ice you bump and slide into other bumper cars for 5 min and then return to the end of the line... during our hour we had three turns on the ice. We did allow a few people to go ahead of us a few times so that we could all be on the ice at the same time, so if you have a smaller group you may have more turns on the ice than we did. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because during our hour random parts kept appearing on the ice: screws, brackets... they didn't pause to inspect the cars and during our last ride the motor fell off the bottom of the car my sister was in... This was something none of us had done before and was a lot fun! I'd definitely go again!!

On a recent visit, I found myself needing some down time and fresh air. I stopped by Ellis Park, a key park in Danville, Indiana and a park where I used to spend quite a bit of time in my young adult years. Ellis Park is directly off U.S. 36 right as you're getting into the main strip of Danville. It's a 49-acre park with a history tracing back to 1913. At that time, the 49 acres were set aside to protect the wells that provided Danville's water. In 1971, the park was renamed for longtime park superintendent Harve Ellis. Ellis Park is along the White Lick Creek. It's perhaps most known for its historical swinging bridge, however, it has quite a few amenities - shelters, playgrounds, sports fields, restrooms, Gill Family Aquatic Center, an amphitheater, and a "train station" that also can host meetings/events. Ellis Park is a rather nice weaving together of history with quite a few contemporary upgrades. It's incredibly wooded and it's super easy to take some time and just chill out here. The park is also adjacent to the nearby Blanton House Conference and Retreat Center. I definitely love Ellis Park, though every time I visit I can't help but feel like I wish it could be spruced up even more. It's really a centerpiece for Danville and it's definitely well utilized. I've always seen quite a few people here whenever I visit, however, it definitely does still have a bit of an aged feeling. That said, it's my favorite park in Danville and it has been a nice place to decompress during my family's recent challenges.

They also have an aquatic center attached to it as well. It has it own Yelp page though. The center is not a big facility and it is kind of older, but they have a lot going on and I like it. They have a nice full court basketball gym (that is converted to do other indoor activities. They had pickleball going on while I was there), some break out rooms (that is where they held the gingerbread decorating) and is in the process of building a toddler area. You will find a very nice and well maintained outdoor basketball court in the front of the building and just of the parking lot tooThere is a ton of free parking available in their private lot. The staff there is the friendliest you will find. They were all awesome, from the woman at the front desk to the people that facilitated the activity. I came here for the gingerbread decorating activity. It was well organized and they made it fun. If this was ant indication of how other activities and events are run here then you should be able to come here with confidence in any thing that you chose to do here. This is a fun place with low cost to free activities going on all year round. It is a hidden gem. I had no idea that this was here, and I lived here for over 6 years. It is definitely worth checking out.

The facilities are really well maintained, from the outdoor fields to the indoor facility - which gives kids a good option in inclement weather. (Certainly not comparable to the outdoor space, but gives some options for camps especially.) Really all of our "negative" experiences have been around weather, which you just can't control for an outdoor sport. We had quite a few rain-outs this last season and there are only 3 days of make-up games in the schedule -- but that was made clear up front and you have to understand they've got other things to plan in the future and can't just extend the schedule forever. But even in the weather delays, communication was crystal clear and they did everything they could to balance kids' safety with not overreacting (a thunderstorm at noon didn't affect a 5:30pm game - they waited until shortly before the game to make the right call based on conditions at game time.

Located on the southeast side of Indy, Rustic Gardens actually was born all the way back in 1924. Ownership has changed hands and the name these days is actually "Rustic Driving Range & Mini Golf." First off, pricing: $8 for 9 holes (takes around 45-60 minutes) $13 for 18 holes (takes around 60-90 minutes) $18 for 27 holes (takes about 120 minutes) Kids under the age of 3 are free. Club rental and ball included. Rustic Gardens offers private party space at their 9-hole and 18-hole course and access to the course comes with event rental. Reservations are recommended, though they can occasionally respond to short-term requests. Rates are from $150 for 2 hours (9-hole course) to $300 for 2 hours (18-hole course) with additional hours available. Check their website for the full details (I'm adding the website to the listing). Rustic Gardens also has a men's league and a women's league along with a Fall tournament. Rustic Gardens is a mini vision of a 27-hole golf course. It has natural grass, obstacles, and trees. Nearly every other mini-golf place in Indiana is a Putt-Putt type place with turf (generally easier). This course has some holes well over 75 feet - most holes are par 4 with some par 5 (with Putt-Putt, par 2 or 3 is a standard). Rustic Gardens indicates the course is disability friendly, though I'd likely disagree with them. Some holes are definitely not. I would agree that an effort has been made to improve access and I think those who are generally mobile (even those who are simply very good in wheelchairs) will find enough to have a good time here. Overall, this is a really cool and under-appreciated place in Indy and it's truly family friendly. Employees are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is quite pleasing. I have a couple friends who really love it here - so, there's no doubt I'll be back.
