I would HIGHLY encourage anyone who is considering a trip to roller skate, that you find a different roller skating facility. Due to a drink spilled on the floor in the snack area with NO wet floor sign, i fell and broke BOTH of my wrists! Then, I had to drive my child home before attempting to drive MYSELF to the ER, which was almost 30 min away. Absolutely NOTHING was done about this, other than receiving ONE text message. I wish that ZERO stars was an option, The owner wouldn't call me back. I missed several days of work, as well as incurring some astronomical hospital and surgery bills, having 2 surgeries on one wrist and casts on BOTH = not very convenient for an American Sign Language Interpreter to say the least. Stay away from this establishment until they have a safety update. read more

What a lucky find! I was on the hunt for a skating rink to book for my granddaughters birthday and chose Franklin Skate Club. It looked like a nicely kept rink, has great reviews, and also has a fantastic birthday package. On the day of our party, I realized they had several birthday parties booked. However, I quickly learned how extremely organized and efficient they are. There was not a single thing that I had to do, other than skate and have a good time with our party of friends and family. Our guests were instructed to check their gifts in at the concession stand, and they put them all into a giant tote and put them back for safe keeping. I was told what time they would announce her birthday on the floor and bring her cake out to sing Happy Birthday. From there, they led us back to where our tables were set with plates, sodas, napkins, and forks. When everyone had gathered, they brought out the pizzas with spatulas so we could serve ourselves. I noticed them cutting up the cake and plating it as we enjoyed our pizza. As they served us each slices of cake, I was told to let them know when we were ready for gifts and they would bring them out. When we were all finished, they were happy to put her gifts in the back again so I could skate and retrieve the presents when we left. This is a clean and very well-kept skating rink. The rental skates are in good shape, and they're happy to help you with tightening or loosening wheels. Even the bathrooms were clean and well kept. I wish I had taken more photos for my review, but we were having so much fun, I completely forgot. Sorry Yelpers! You'll just have to go and experience this one for yourselves! read more

This is a good old skate rink. They have an adequate parking lot. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. This rink is what you see is what you get. It is not very high tech. The rink has a small shop with small trinket/toys, and skating accesories, and a snack bar with a dining area. The rink does not have private party rooms, so the dining areas serves that purpose. They are not private. They invite the birthday person onto the rink, where they sing happy birthday to them. The snack bar sells pizzas, corn nuggets, fries, hot dogs, cheese burgers and pretzels. It is your typical snack bar food. The rink does not have those PVC walkers that poor skaters use. They do offer tightening the wheels, which they did for my little. He did not like it as much as the PVC walkers, and gave up early. I paid $8 for my skate rental, to help him around the rink and it was pretty much a waste. I guess that is the price being a dad. You will find lockers and an air hockey game here. Of course the lockers are not free and you have to pay for them. This is an older rink, but it works. This skating place is open until 11pm on Saturday. The session was from 7p-11p, cost is 8$ admission and 2$ skate rental, cheapest skate rental fee I've seen. We came the day after tornadoes hit in Whiteland, so they didn't have internet service and weren't able to accept credit/debit cards. I only had 10$ cash on me for two people, we have our own skates but was still short on admission fee, they didn't have an atm so we were going to leave and come back but the lady working (I didn't catch her name) just charged us for one admission and one skate rental which came up to 10$, how sweet...she said just pay it forward, of course! A man in front of us was also willing to pay what we were short on, friendly people are always a plus. This was my first time here. They have small lockers for personal items that cost, a few selection of arcade games, a food court, and a decent size skating floor that's open. They have a red circle in the middle, slower skaters are supposed to skate inside the red line. Bench seating is located around the skating floor. They played good music, offer skating games like going through 2 cones, designated skating for girls/boys and different age groups to switch things up, and offer certain songs for backwards skating. Staff ensure rules are being followed. The skating floor was pretty smooth, I didn't notice any rugged spots, seems like they maintain the skating floor pretty well which makes for smooth rolling. One thing I didn't like was due to the floor being very open, when near the middle, there's nothing to grab onto if you lose balance. One girl grabbed onto me twice, not sure if she lost balance or used me to break her fall but I don't like that. The building is stand alone and offers ample parking. I don't like to carry much when skating so I kept my phone in the car because I wasn't sure how safe it was to leave things out, so not a lot of pictures taken. read more

Referee was a jerk took a selfie with my girlfriend (not facing any kids and other couples were taking selfies too) got berated by the referee and he kept saying children here. We were also the only queer couple taking selfies (I'm very visibly queer) and he didn't do this to any of the other couples or families taking photos and we weren't doing any poses or anything , nor was I staring at my phone for an extended period of time just enough to snap the picture. Really killed the vibe and I left less than thirty after because I couldn't really get over that. The food was nice and everyone else was too. I was really having a fun time too and that just completely ruined it. I won't be returning and my girlfriend and I were really excited to find a rink closer to my university and especially one with an adult skate night. I kept skating after I was told off by the referee and noticed the sheer amount of people on their phones taking photos right in front of him! So I didn't get a picture of the cake or my daughter with it. We couldn't even light the candle. This place is family owned I think the granddaughter to the original owners said this year will be 60 yrs in business. She was friendly and helpful. We will be going skating more often. My kids love going here! Yeah, the decor in here is a bit retro but my kids don't know the difference, nor do they care. Skating is great exercise and because this location is part of the Kids Skate Free program, it's inexpensive entertainment for a few hours. The program allows children 10 and under to skate for free at designated times. The only charge is an admin setup fee and the skate rental ($2) if you don't bring your own. Plenty of seating allows parents (who don't skate) to chill with the kids still in sight. Although we rarely buy anything from the snack bar, it's a nice convenience and isn't outrageously priced. My only complaint here is that the laces on their skates need changed more often. The plastic ends of the laces are often missing, leaving frayed ends that make it difficult to lace up the skates. read more

We are frequent skaters but we are always not wanting to go the concession area because of the NUMEROUS times they handle food with no gloves. This is a nice family owned rink, and it really shows. We have visited 3 times in about a 10 day period because we like it so much, even though other rinks are significantly closer. The employees are friendly and the rink and restrooms are some of the cleanest we have seen. Because this is an old building open over 60 years, it's a little dated but well cared for. We have been to many rinks in the Indy area and will drive about 20 mins further for this one. They're very keen on rules and safety here. We especially like the Weds night adult skate so we don't have to worry about zooming kids that are a little too fast for us. We would have given this business 5 stars, except it seems like every 10 minutes there is a special game or men's only skate or something and we had to stop skating and sit out for a time. We visit the rink for exercise, so having to stop and let our heart rate drop while we watch a game isn't ideal for us. They do have a small pro shop that, while small, is the largest we have seen at local rinks. They do have some skates in averages sizes in stock and are happy to place special orders to arrive within a few days. They guarantee satisfaction. We did purchase a decent pair of skates for our son at the pro shop. They're willing to help out newbies with info. Without talking to them, we wouldn't have known where to start. The skating floor itself at this rink is pretty cool and nostalgic, as is the building. It's one of the nicer skating floors we have skates on. They do some fun things to switch it up like reversing direction on the floor so that you have to challenge your brain and your muscle memory to turn right instead of left. They also have the cleanest and largest snack bar we have seen with very moderately priced concessions and the largest selection we have seen, including pizza, sodas, pretzels, nachos, ice cream treats, mozzarella sticks, snow cones, candy, and lots more I haven't seen yet. There are some amazingly talented skaters who visit this rink regularly, so be prepared to be wowed by the roller boogie peeps and the very fast jam skaters. Some of the kids are amazingly talented, though a bit too fast for my taste. My son fell down several times as he was learning, and the staff was extremely quick to check on him. And I mean within like 30 seconds, sometimes even faster then I could get there. They were very keen to provide ice, etc. (He was really just fine, just bumped up from learning.) read more

I seriously had some of the best bday parties of my life as a youngster at this place. Only knock on the rink is that it hasn't been updated since before I was a child. BUT, WHO GIVES A RIP. The skates be crazy cheap, $1.5 for skates, $2.5 for speed skates. They have video games, cheap food, and some of the nicest people around. If you come expecting the "hippest" place in the land you are going to be disappointed. If you come looking to have a cheap time and leave smugness at the door, you'll have a blast. So when my nine year old daughter tells me that for her party this year she wants to go roller skating, FSC was my first thought. I had not been there since I was a kid. I called and they were more than accommodating. For 75.00 the party included 10 kids, admission, skate rental, pizza, drinks, and a cake. Beautiful, no kids trashing my house this year. I was concerned about my youngest daughter wanting to skate since she is 3 going on 16 and there was no problem. They tightened her wheels so that she could experience the party just like the older kids. My son came along "to help with the party" but I believe he just came to eat at the snack bar the entire time. He said the cheese fries were "the bomb". All in all it was a great party. My daughter wanted to go again the next day. I would say that they now have a regular customer with my family. read more

I've been here a few times in the past 2 months because it's one of the rinks closest to my town. I plan on visiting other rinks in Indy, but this is my go-to location. I go on Friday or Saturday. Saturday nights are pretty busy. The floor is smooth and I tend to stick with the quad rentals. The cheap prices are great ($2 skate rental and $4-6 admission depending on day). The music is enjoyable for the most part (typically stuff on the charts). Since I usually go Saturdays I can't speak for the other days, but they do jam skating sessions that are about ten minutes long so it's for people who shuffle and dance on skates. It's pretty cool! People bring their kids and everyone seems to have a good time. read more

I am a black mother of four kids. I've never experienced such great discrimination towards my race. The minute I walked in, the lady greeted us with such disdain in her eyes. She informed me that my child of a bigger size needed to cover up her " dark chocolate muffin". At that moment, I was appalled. I still wanted to carry on skating with my children because they wanted to. Yet after we got our skates on, there were too many mistakes created. The bathroom was UNSANITARY (worse than old gas stations). For example, the toilet paper was on a pipe coming out of wall behind the toilet. In addition, my shoe size is a 8. Yet when I asked for a size 8 skates, they did not have any left even though they had given size 8 skates to the couple after us. I've never had such a horrible experience regarding my race. Another thing to add is the staff. In particular, they had given us a difficult time for leaving early by commenting "Why are you done so early". My reply to that was "your institution has provided such racial discrimination towards the black community". Lastly, the business was not accommodating toward beginner skaters i.e my kids. For soon after we got accustomed to forward skating, they designated a long period of time for back seating. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HORRIBLE PLACE TOWARD PARENTS WHO CARE FOR THE EMOTIONAL SAFETY OF THEIR KIDS. I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0 BUT YELP ONLY ALLOWS 1 AS THE LOWEST. read more
