This park is 15 acres and runs along Young's Creek, hence the name. It opened in May 2022 and is an amazing place. The town of Franklin hit a homerun with this one. My kids loved this place. The park has about 8 very nice pickleball courts and an equally nice amphitheater with a 5,000 capacity. The amphitheater has a wide-open field that spectators can set up during performances and other events. It can also be used to play catch, have a picnic, have a game of football, a soccer match or just hang out and relax. There are restroom facilities on each side of the amphitheater's stage and porta-potties just outside of the parking lot. There is a huge amount of parking spots available in the park's and town's lot. You will also find picnic tables in the median of the parking lot to lounge.
The park is home to a very nice paved jogging/walking trail. It feeds into longer trails outside of the park including the 17-mile Franklin Greenway Trail. Or you can just the loop around the park. The park has a very nice splash pad. It looks like it would be a lot of fun, but I visited out of season, so it was closed. This is one of the few parks that you will find individual 'mini" picnic shelters. There are about 4 of them and each shelter has a picnic table or two under it and is intended for one group at a time use.
The park's playground is its heart and soul. It has first class modern equipment. The playground area is lined with the mud-free rubber mat surface. It is so soft. Some of the equipment includes traditional swings, toddler swings, expression swings, a see-saw, rock climbing wall, drums, monkey bars, a climbing net, a sit and spin, a steep slide, xylophone, and chimes. There are also two jungle gyms. One jungle gym is for smaller kids and basically consists of a slide and bridge. The other jungle gym is much larger and has monkey bars, and a couple of slides. The highlight of the playground, at for my kids was the merry go ground that they sat on a suspended rope and I spun them around. It is kind of like the swings that you see at amusement parks. I do have to admit, it was pretty cool. There are benches with canopy shades along the perimeter of the playground area where parent/care givers can watch their little ones play. This playground is just something you have to see an experience for yourself. It is a colorful explosion of fun.
The park is home to events like the seasonal farmer's market, and Strawberries on the Square, the city's Halloween Town, and their concert series.
The park is well maintained. A guy pulled up in a city truck while I was there to do some work and check to make sure everything was good. This is what a park and playground should look like. My littles and I had so much fun here. They did not want to leave. I had to bribe them with some ice cream to get them to leave. This is definitely a destination park and worth a drive. You could spend hours here. Finally South side playgrounds are catching up with those up North. read more
