    Gotta love bowling carpet

Beech Grove Bowl is the kind of place where "everybody knows your name." You want the Cheers of bowling alleys, start going to Beech Grove Bowl. This place is unassuming. It's an older building and there's not a lot of flair like you see in some places that try to be trendy. But Beech Grove Bowl has heart. More than that, they have everything you need--12 lanes, plenty of good food and drinks, music, and arcade games. And they're open (normally) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... which blows my mind. You could literally go bowl whenever you want to! You want claw machines? They've got claw machines. You want to play some 90s pop while you bowl? You can select on the touchscreen "jukebox." You want to play the world's largest PAC-Man? That's here, too. Wanna bowl with your toddler? They have shoes that will fit their tiny feet, bumpers, and "slides" they can push the ball down. Looking for an adult league or youth bowling program? They've got you covered! It's an older building, but they've done some renovating. My only complaint is there's a bit of a (musty?) smell inside. They do have gluten free pizza crust, so that's a huge plus in my book! My fam loves the calzones and slushies. They even have Dip'N'Dots now. Basically, this is a community place with a lot to offer if you give it a chance. I think you'll see that when you stop by.

Very old. Lanes were uneven and pins were attached to wires. Our lane had lots of problems with locking up. Food was good thank goodness! If you live in the neighborhood, I can see why people spend time there on the weekends. It's close. It's familiar. There are only 12 lanes. We were there for my daughter's 21st birthday and I was embarrassed once everyone showed up. But, it worked out and we made the best of it.

I ended up going to the Beech Grove Bowl on Saturday night January 23rd. Since, there's nothing to do in the city every bowling of that night was sold out. I remember I called bowling alleys as far North as Noblesville which was sold out. I made out there at 8pm, and my wait time was 30mins. Everyone, that went to Beech Grove Bowl only bowled two games, the bowling alley is 24hrs, yet they made sure everyone was able to bowl which was why the limit was two games. The bowling alley is small, goes up to twelve lanes, the front entrance there's no stairs so it's accessible to everyone including if you use a wheelchair, or other devices. Beech Grove Bowl does have a small game room area, they do sell food as well as drinks. You do have to wear your masks coming in, and leaving the bowling alley. I noticed while bowling there were a lot of ppl not wearing their masks. At night the bowling alley glows in the dark, and when bowling it changes to a piano that actually makes noises when the bowling ball is rowing. A little fun fact about Beech Grove Bowl is that it's been open for 24hrs since 1948.

This is not a full review because I stopped in to bowl a couple games to kill time while my dog was at the vet a few blocks away. I was the only person there besides the guy at the counter so I didn't really get the full experience with a packed house. I appreciate that the whole house is non-smoking. I can't believe it's open 24 hours. There must not be a lot to do in Beech Grove at 2 AM if they can afford to stay open all the time. I've heard the pizza is pretty good here so I'll have to come back and try it sometime. Warning: Bowler-speak ahead! The lanes are extremely slick and go long, so come prepared. You may need to bake your ball (or buy a new one) to get any kind of back-end reaction.

It all tasted basic and as expected so that wasn't a let down, but although I live like 5 min or less from location and it was delivered early by DoorDash, everything pretty much arrived cold! The warmest thing was the cheese sauce. The pizza was loaded with meat, the crust soft but edges crispy which I liked. The bosco stick was buttered and topped with Parmesan. It was cold enough though that there was No pull to the cheese inside. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly, still had chew, and topped generously with cheese sauce and lots of bacon! The Mac and cheese bites were dry and didn't have any creamy cheese in them, but the flavor was there. Based on the situation I would say everything had been sitting out precooked for awhile not even under a warmer. Honestly I would order again just because it's local and the flavors were there, I would highly encourage they improve on items being warm at the very least! I have been to the location prior to Covid and it was nice and clean. I believe we had the cheese bread which was really good, at least that's what sticks out in my memory!

This place was a hole in the wall bowling alley. I was a little nervous walking in - felt like I was walking into a saloon (tumbleweed.... tumbleweed) but it was really cute and I think I enjoyed this more than the large commercial bowling alleys. We went on a Wednesday evening (after 8pm) $2 games, $2 shoes. So the price was awesome! We double dated with my brother and his girlfriend and I had been watching YouTube videos all day on how to bowl better and scored the lowest score. So that made me so sad - seeing as the losing couple had to pay for the winning couple :( Anyways I ordered the mini donuts - they were pretty good. We also played a few video games and called it a night. My only complaint was that our pins had to reset 3-4 times and it's a manual re-set so the workers there had to walk to the back and get everything in order before we could bowl again - so that stunk (pee-u). Other than that overall 4-star experience!

Now I will say the bowling alley is a little rough around the edges; it's a little old and could use a face lift.

I will admit that the food is a bit on the pricey end but oh well. The pizza is good though. They have a private parking lot there, but it gets packed during peak hours. I came on a Saturday afternoon and ended up parking in the lot across the street. You must have their socks to participate in the fun. Everyone must also fill out a waiver and spectators must also pay to enter the slide area (which is different from other similar parks that I have been to. To save time, I recommend completing the waiver online. The place was very chaotic when I was there. There was kids all over the place. The lines for the slides did move relatively quickly though. The staff there, from top to bottom is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. I was very impressed, especially considering that they deal with screaming kids all day. Great job to them and whoever does the hiring. For those having a party there, you are giving a dedicated table with a server. The party area is in an open fenced off area. They do not have party rooms. There are a few places in the play area for caregivers to sit while the little play, but those places few and far between. The slides there are awesome. They are huge and some can appear a bit intimidating. I wish I had a place like this when I was little. They also have a small zip line, a two basketball courts. There is also an area for little kids to play as well. I really like this places vibe. It is relatively clean and trendy, with big murals all over the walls. I sure hope that the Greenwood location, that they have been talking about for years opens soon. Either way, I am sure that I will be back to this place very soon.

A few were too steep and long for my young kiddos to try. There are staff standing at the top of most of the slides to assist and keep kids from going to close together. There's a concession stand with icee, soda, pizza, chips, etc. To snack on. I'm not sure if you can bring in your own food or not. Lastly, the adults can slide too if they want! If not, there are plenty of chairs, benches and take areas for you to sit. Be aware, it's VERY loud inside. Screaming, yelling, crying, excitement... bring a book or play on your phone!

It is very reasonably priced and my littles loved it. They offer free parking and have food trucks on site. The parking lot is a bit dark in spots and hard to navigate, but I made it. Now, it is a festival hosted in December which means it is more than likely going to be very chilly at best. I recommend checking the weather and dressing accordingly. The staff there, from the ticket takers, to the vendors, to the characters, to the ride operators, were so very friendly. They were all awesome. The place has an awesome walk-thru interactive light show. They have some cool music that syncs to the lights. It is worth the price of addmission all by itself. During the COVID year they made it a drive thru attraction. Within the maze of lights there are trailers that has characters that you can take photos with including the Grinch, Jack Skellington from the nightmare before Christmas, Ana, Elsa, and Olaf, and of course, the jolly one himself, Santa. Our favorite was the Grinch. He really played his role and looked great. There are also characters roaming the grounds like an old Mickey Mouse, a deer, and a panda. The festival has a small ride/game area that has a tall rock-climbing wall, bungee trampoline, an archery game where you try to hit floating balls with an arrow. A bear affair spinner, a basketball shot game, and a wizzer. They are all included with your admission and you can play/ride as much as you want. As I mentioned, it is reasonably priced, but has a bunch of add-ons. There is a train that costs $5 per person and takes you along the festival grounds and through the lights. The train is cash only and they have an ATM on site, if you need it. Also, you are not allowed to take personal photos with the characters in the trailers. You must pay for their photos. They are $10 per photo. So, as you can see, the amount of money you spend can creep up very quickly. They have a lot of food options. They have a kettle corn vendor on site selling various flavors of kettle corn. There is also a small snack bar and a couple of food trucks. They have set up a small tent where people can eat and have a heated restroom trailer nearby. They were playing classic Christmas movies on a large screen on the grounds and had a bonfire going. I must admit, We hung out at the bonfire for a while to warm up. They also have a very tall inflatable slide. One of the tallest that I have seen. I looked like a small mountain. Other attractions include a hayride, a set of illuminated wings that you can take a picture in front of, a creepy Christmas maze (it is not too scary and is ok for little kids to go in), and a photo op with Krampus in a trailer behind the snack bar and next to the slide. No attraction is complete without a gift shop. This place is not different. They have a gift shop next to the movie screen and near the entrance. We had an amazing time here. It is definitely a well kept secret. They have been doing this for at least 4 years and this is the first time that I heard about it. I definitely will be back next year. Hopefully, my littles will be ready to visit Krampus by then. They did not make half way into the trailer this year. I know time is running out this year to purchase one of their dated tickets, but you should have it on your radar for next year if you can't squeeze it in this year.

I was impressed enough that I texted three friends photos, told my wife to start planning our son's birthday party here, and was actively asking managers about upgrading to full access because I had just discovered the larger "Adrenaline" area. For context: it's Indiana winter, it was cold, and I had a hooded sweatshirt on with the hood up because I was freezing. During my 2 1/2-hour stay, I spoke with two managers about memberships--neither said a word about my hood. While walking around trying to keep up my child, I heard someone off to the side say, "Take your hood off." I approached the man, who asked me politely. I politely asked why it was a rule. His response was shocking: "So I can see your entire face on my 50 cameras." This was 11:30 a.m. on a Friday, not a packed weekend night. I turned away to continue looking for my child, removed the hood, and muttered "whatever dude" under my breath. That's when the situation escalated wildly. He charged toward me, yelling: "I'm the owner--if you don't like it, leave!" I had already complied. That wasn't enough. He then shouted: "I'll give you your money back!" And finally said something that truly crossed a line: "If there are off-colored people with hoods up and we ask them to take it down, what would that look like?" I'm still trying to understand why race was brought into this at all. Let me be clear: * The facility is great for kids * The staff and managers were wonderful * We were not leaving anytime soon until this happened But the owner's behavior was aggressive, unnecessary, and completely inappropriate. A simple rule explanation would've sufficed. Instead, it turned into a power trip with racial commentary that had no place in the conversation. Rules are rules--but how you enforce them matters. I'll take the refund. And I'll take my business elsewhere.

I've watched or driven close to 500,000 laps at various venues around the country, from 1/4 mile ovals to super speedways. IMS is perhaps the poorest place I've ever been to try to watch a race. I attended both the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400 there last year. Whoever decided to build a 3 story grandstand on the INSIDE of the front straightaway and a museum in the infield was an idiot. There is not a seat in the house that can see more than about 1/4th of the track. What I mean is, at 220 mph a lap takes about 40 seconds. So every 40 seconds you get to see the cars go by for about 7-10 seconds at speeds so fast that you can't even read the numbers on them. If you are a race fan you'll be disappointed. If you're there primarily for the party, and the hip hop DJ blasting away in the infield you might have fun. I didn't. I would rather have paid to watch paint dry in a sauna. I live 4 miles from IMS. It took 4 hours to get home after the Indy 500. I paid for preferred parking and ended up a mile from the track. For the 500, the concession stands ran out of food at about 2 pm, or about halfway through the race. I'm not spending money to go to this venue in the foreseeable future.
