Chubby Skewers is a fun place to go with your friends and out of towners! This is perfect place for chatting and hanging out. More of an interactive experience and cooking foods together. It's generally kid friendly as long as your kids don't like to reach and touch hot things. I generally enjoy getting the chicken parts and the beef that's less fatty. The brisket for me is a bit too fatty but that's not their fault. It's just the cut. The staff is always nice to us and very friendly. Pro tip is to ask for the skewer tool since it helps a lot with getting the meat off the skewer. If they see you struggling, sometimes they will bring to you. I think it's very important what time you go if you don't want to run into a crowd and a long wait. I don't recommend going on weekends around 6. Seems really busy and long wait since the place is generally cook your own food. Do the math but the membership can be worth it!

This place has a very interesting concept with a twist on Korean bbq with grilling your own meat. There is a metal hot box they set on your table filled with coals which you can set metal skewers of meat on top to cook. You walk over to the large refrigerators with about 8 doors and there are trays of meat, seafood, and a few veggies. I thought this was fun but the skewers of meat were about only 2" long at most. The restaurant charges you for everything, the coals, the spices mixes that you add to your skewers. I'm not sure why they don't include this in the price of the experience. There were other food items that you can order via a QR code on the table which we only ordered rice. The booths were very tight. So much so that you can't put your legs under the booth. Please opt for the tables instead of the booth. Overall felt it was a unique experience that I would do once. Not sure I would go back.

So simple but amazing. Meat and pairings grilled over charcoal. A lot faster of a cook than KBBQ and a lot tastier. The meat which is already great quality gets so tender. My favorites are the black pepper wagyu and the lamb in the dry rub. The service is usually pretty quick. I highly recommend getting the subscription if you plan on going more than once, takes the skewer price down from 1.30 to 1.00. They have lots of available seating and do team service. Usually pretty clean and I love that they're open late. My go to after a long night!

Really making this Chubby Club membership worth it and trying things when out of state. Happened to be in the Mesa area and decided to try Chubby Skewers. A little crazy with reservations since it was Valentine's day, but they are open until 2AM. They have a menu for cooked items like the wagyu beef rice bowl, fried shrimp balls, and the cucumber salad (so good!). Fun and interactive concept grilling your own skewers. They charge for the charcoal and per person to use the seasonings. You also have to order your rice separately. Self serve skewer stations. So many options to choose from but our favorites were the pork and the variety of beef / wagyu skewers. Some meats have 2 skewers - double the price. They have a cheat sheet for how long to cook each specific meat. Overall a fun dining experience. Can't really comment on service too much since this was a DIY restaurant. They didn't really have to do anything or check-in on us since we're doing everything ourselves. Lol. I would love some sort of sauce to dip the meats in since the dusting of dry seasonings just tasted flat. All the skewers go in a metal canister and when you're done, the staff counts it infront of you. Between 4 adults, we did about 70 skewers. Which was not bad at all cost wise. *Chubby Club membership pricing is $1 per skewer, free charcoal, and free seasonings.

We've gone to Chubby Skewers three times now and it's better now than it was during their first few months of opening. First visit: The options were lackluster, the service sucked and we left not wanting to come back. We hated everything on their menu except their skewers. We especially hated the stir fried noodles or the scallops in garlic sauce. Everything was so salty and inedible. Second time: good, better variety and service was a little better. We had no complaints but nothing wowed us. Third time: WAY better than previous visits. Service was fast and friendly. Good options on their menu now. Fried rice is insanely delicious, I was surprised and expected it to be average. Cucumber salad is always good. Malatang was full of ingredients and soo numbing. We ordered the Chinese pancake wraps but they dropped off tortillas... which we didn't understand. $6 for tortillas. If we wanted tortillas, we would have asked for tortillas. They should have let us know they were out of the wraps instead of dropping off tortillas so we don't order them lol. Skewers are still good and they have better variety now. They have unlimited Pepsi if you pay for the first round. Super loud and lively, so if that's not your thing, avoid.

Food was really good. Service was amazing being our first time they explained everything so well. Definitely a vibe. Skewers selection is amazing. Definitely a spot to come back to.

First time visiting and our server did a great job at explaining what to do, how everything worked and what items were available. The meats itself were really good and flavorful on their own. There is an additional charge for getting the charcoal itself and if you use any of their seasonings at each table. I wish they had more sides and sauces to go along with the meat but otherwise really good. All skewers are $1.20 each and they charge you based on how many skewers you have at the end. Definitely recommend getting the membership if you see yourself visiting often as it seems like a great deal and will pay for itself after a couple of visits!

If you're a fan of the Chubby Cattle group, this spot is a must-try. Happy Hour skewers are just $1.25 each -- yes, you read that right -- making it super easy to sample a ton of options without breaking the bank. One of my absolute favorites here is the stir-fry instant noodles -- seriously, must get. Plus, I love that you get to choose your own skewers, so you can mix and match to your heart's content. There's a huge variety, so everyone leaves happy. I've waited forever at the California location (no way I'm doing a two-hour wait again), so trying this one was a game-changer -- and I loved it. Fair warning, it does get a bit smokey inside, and if you order spicy, be ready for some real heat -- but that just adds to the fun. Overall, it's a tasty, customizable, and wallet-friendly hotpot experience -- perfect for both casual nights out and those "I need ALL the skewers" cravings.

My boyfriend and I love this place. Even though the Meat portions on the skewers aren't too big, they are filling. I feel like it's definitely a good price. The seasoning I'm not a fan of. I wish they would have a better variety. I like the fact that they have veggies and fruit.

Various selection of meat & veggie items (sausage, zucchini, mushrooms, chicken, beef, bacon wrapped enoki mushrooms, lamb)

Met up with a friend, before heading off to a movie. We arrived at opening time and were immediately greeted and seated by a nice young lady. She was kind enough to explain the process, pricing process and ordering. The placed immediately filled up within about a 1/2 hour. The entire staff was friendly and quick on bring out a grill, drinks and food we ordered (Wagyu Fried rice & Spicy Fries). We then ventured off to the skewer area to select our items. Everything cooks fairly quickly and we can season/dip into various seasoning selections. The food we order was good, but the spicy fries were exceptionally good and simple. Do not be misled by the look of the fries, I thought they were greasy looking but it actually was a seasoned & hint of sweetness glaze. Very addictive. The place is a fairly large place with plenty of seating and everything was very clean upon opening for business for the day. The table are adorned simply with a bucket to store your skewers after you are done with them and 4 different seasoning containers. It's a great way to eat lightly, yet filling. While they offer a large selection of items on skewers, they do have selections that may not be for everyone due to their uniqueness, but plenty of basic protein selections (chicken, shrimp, beef, lamb, tofu, etc).

So the concept is cool. The $1 something per skewer will def grab anyone's attention. However when you get there There's an up charge to use seasonings. Each person is charged for each that is used. There's an up charge to get more charcoal. The service was great when we first got there. But then had to chase them down to get the bill when we wanted to leave. I think like a lunch/appetizer kind of spot. But to actually get full off of the food you will have to spend a lot. Bc a small amount comes on each skewer. We spent only about $30. We just wanted a taste of things. We didn't get anywhere near full. So I would estimate about 60-100 a person (again an estimate) to get full. But the food is good. They have a guide to tell you how long to cook things. They also sell alcohol which is cool. I was just uncomfortable with the small tables and the charcoal being so close to us.

This Chinese BBQ skewers restaurant is quite unique. There are over 40 different types of meat and vegetable skewers that you select from several refrigerators and you cook them at your table. All the skewers are $1.30 each. The Black Pepper Wagyu Beef, Lamb and Fish Tofu were delicious. There is also an appetizer menu that you can order from. The things that we did not like about the restaurant were that you had to pay for the charcoal to cook your skewers and you had to pay for the individual seasonings unless you sign-up for their membership on their app. These should be included. Do not get a booth by the windows because the table legs are right next to the booth's seat so it is difficult to get in and out of the booth and you have to straddle them. Very uncomfortable. We arrived on Saturday at 5:30PM and had to join the waitlist and were seated in 5 minutes. There were many people waiting when we left. Finally, there is good ventilation so it was not as smoky as it could have been.

Had a good time at Chubby Skewers. Visiting from CA. Took my son's family for dinner who's eaten there before. I found it interesting, pick premade skewers from fridges and cook them yourself on a grill set on your table at $1.25 a skewer. Fun sorta! There's not a lot of meat, seafood or vegetables on any one skewer so it can add up. We won a lottery for half off our total bill, that was exciting. Service was amazing, explained everything if you hadn't been before. Last words...let's go.

I was amazed that it fed all nine of us with plenty left over to take home. Seriously, it cost about $12 per person before tips. I can't take them out for a burger and fries in many places for that same price. The service is excellent. Great place.

I stopped by Caldwell County BBQ for dinner on a Saturday evening. Located in Gilbert, I found…read morestreet parking right in front of the restaurant despite it being quite busy. I'll preface this review by saying I have very high standards when it comes to BBQ. I am from Houston after all. Caldwell County BBQ very much lived up to the hype. It's no surprise their reviews are so good. Ambiance (5/5): Caldwell County BBQ serves Texas-style BBQ. I felt right at home. There's a lot of Texan decor and the sort of ambiance you would expect at a BBQ joint. It's a spacious restaurant with plenty of seating outside and a decent amount of seating inside. We sat inside. One of the things they do well is keeping the A/C blasting both indoors and outdoors (while you're likely going to wait in line) along with misters. Definitely something you need in Phoenix! Service (4/5): I hate waiting in line. Though it's not unusual at popular BBQ spots, I still wish places like this would hire a couple of more people to make the line move faster (or even completely eliminate the lines). We probably waited in line for about 20 minutes. They have a water cooler along the route, but it was all out. Something the staff should check on a little more frequently. With all this being said, Caldwell County is well worth the wait. Drinks (5/5): Whenever I'm at a BBQ joint, I'm looking for sweet tea. Which they have here. Plus your standard assortment of soft drinks and alcohol, with a focus on beer. Food (5/5): BBQ joints typically have you pay by weight or by plates (one meat, two meats, three meats, etc.). Caldwell does it by the pound unless you go with a sandwich, loaded baked potato, etc. What's nice is they also have a family pack for 4 which comes with brisket, pulled pork, and your choice of ribs, sausage, or one other protein which is escaping me. Plus two large pint-size sides. We rolled with this option as it's a good deal (brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis style ribs with corn casserole and mac and cheese). White bread, pickles, onions, and jalapenos are available free of charge. There are three BBQ sauces at each table: their classic BBQ, spicy, and AZ gold). We also added a quarter pound of the AZ burnt ends. Man, these are some quality meats. Brisket is the true test of Texas BBQ and the shining star. The brisket here isn't the best I've ever had but it's quite respectable. The sweet and spicy AZ burnt ends were delicious too. The ribs were tender and had a nice sweet glaze on them. The pulled pork was my least favorite, but still quite good. The sides are solid, though they could be a bit better. The mac and cheese was too peppery for my taste and the corn casserole was too sweet. Like pretty much all craft BBQ these days, Caldwell County BBQ isn't cheap. But the quality is there. This is the type of place that I would come back to again and again. They also have a location in Peoria though this one is the original. And I hear they don't run out of meats as other BBQ joints do (especially in Texas). That's a big plus! It's always a bummer when a BBQ joint is out of something you want. If you haven't been to Caldwell County BBQ, change that quick. Yeehaw!
