I am a Chubby Club Plus member and have high expectations for Chubby restaurants. They have always been so impressive, but unfortunately, Chubby Curry did not meet our high expectations and was slightly disappointing tbh. I came this past Wednesday for a late lunch around 2PM. I was surprised to see that the restaurant was empty, since I'm used to waiting ~1 hour for Chubby restaurants. The restaurant has a lot of anime decorations around, with a lot of Demon Slayer figurines and posters decorating the place. Huge fan. We ordered the DineLA lunch which includes wagyu hamburger + waffle fries + drink for $25. Love the curry waffle fries with the curry seasoning on it. The wagyu burger was comparable to what is served at the AYCE Chubby Cattle/Wagyu Master restaurants. They are bigger and slightly more elevated in flavor though. We also ordered the wagyu curry and pork tonkatsu curry. These were solid but did not have the "wow" factor that I'm used to with Chubby restaurants. Everything was very fresh and cooked quickly (again, we were the only patrons in the restaurant). Ended up paying about $100 with tax and tip for these 3 dishes. For that price, I would rather go to one of the AYCE Chubby restaurants. Our server offered recommendations for our meal and helped us order. Unfortunately, I was unable to get points with this meal since they forgot to scan my app for points. Too bad because they were giving out double points that day too :/ They wrote down my phone number and said that the boss would add the points in manually but that hasn't happened yet... It's too bad I didn't get a picture of the receipt either.
Last month, we dined at Chubby Curry in Beverly Hills. A family friend recommended this place, so we tried it out and explored the area as well. There's mostly paid parking nearby. When we arrived at around 7pm on Saturday, there were a couple of parties dining and we were seated quickly. The restaurant has a casual vibe and fun anime decor, including a wall of figurines. The service was minimal and fine. We ordered on the tablet at our table and interacted with our server when bringing the food and presenting the bill. I chose the Tonkatsu Kare at medium spice ($23). The plate was nearly overflowing with curry, and the medium spice was a slow burn heat for me. The small side of cabbage salad was fresh, but it was drenched in dressing. I would've liked a balance between cabbage salad and pickled radish. My fave item from the dish was the tonkatsu/pork cutlet, which was a generous size and fried perfectly.
Went for DineLA lunch and had both offerings, the tonkatsu ramen with okra tofu and wagyu hamburger with waffle fries. Service was well paced with the first course arriving in a few minutes followed by the main. We didn't have high expectations for the cold tofu and okra but it was delicious and the tofu soaked up the soy based sauce and was balanced by the slight crunchiness of the okra. The waffle fries were exceptional - double fried with a curry aioli sauce. The tonkatsu and ramen were also great. The tonkatsu had a light, crispy batter and the ramen was so delicious, with the addition of corn, peas, black fungus and bamboo shoots, truly comforting. The burger was a hit, too. Juicy and flavorful. The small details here didn't go unnoticed, the unique plates, nice bamboo chopsticks and cute hippo candy plate. We chose to sit in front by the open windows since it was such a nice afternoon but the dining area further inside was welcoming, too. I've also been here outside of DineLA and it's just an overall solid experience.
I had high hopes for Chubby Curry, but the experience was pretty mixed. The biggest issue was the portion size for the price. My curry don was $18 and it came out on what looked like an appetizer-sized tray. For that price, I definitely expected a more filling portion. It felt more like a snack than a full meal, which was disappointing. As for the taste, it was fine--nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. The curry was decent and the food was cooked well, just not something that made me think, "I can't wait to come back for this." If the portions matched the price, I'd probably feel very differently about this place. Right now, it feels overpriced for what you get. It's okay if you're just trying it once, but not great if you're hungry and expecting value.
We stopped by on Friday after work to give Chubby Curry a try. Once arrived we greeted and seated right away. We were they ones there at that time. So service and food came out in a timely manner. Ordering was simple on the IPAD. We ordered the following: Pork Tonkatsu ( Side Order) - The pork loin was moist and tender. The crispy panko wasn't your typical Japanese style but it was nice a very crispy. Wagyu Beef Curry- We got the Curry at spice level 3 which was their highest. The Curry was very flavorful and had a nice kick. The only complaint was that it didn't have enough beef. It was more potatoes and carrots. Wagyu Steak Rice Bowl- This was definitely our favorite one. 8oz of tender rare Wagyu served on top of rice. The wagyu just melts in your mouth. A bowl that I will order again here. All In all Chubby Curry delivers the good. We did enjoyed it and would dine here again.
I was excited about trying this spot but it didn't hit the mark for me. It's one of those places you wanted to try but won't come back because you had better. FOOD 3/5 Signature Wagyu Curry = YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR SPICE LEVEL Slow-Cooked Wagyu Beef, Japanese Worcester Caramelized Dark Cocoa Curry with Marble Potato, Carrot & Charred Broccoli, Comes with Japanese Rice Udon Know Me Thinly Sliced Wagyu Roast Beef Round, Mushroom, Japanese Curry Sauce Tonkatsu Kare = YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR SPICE LEVEL 8oz Pork Tonkatsu, Japanese Vegetable Curry, Comes with Rice PARKING 5/5 FREE 2 hour parking literally across the street from Chubby Curry in a cover parking structure. SERVICE 4/5 Average service which was hardly anything since you order from an iPad and the food is brought to you - that simple AMBIENCE 4/5 Awesome build out if you're into manga/anime hence a display of figures on the wall and throughout the restaurant.
Pretty famous Japanese curry house in Los Angeles. We stopped by for dinner and hsve to wait a bit. The interior is nice and the restaurant is kind of open concept where there is no door to get in. The menu is simple with various type of meat and curry. The one caught our eyes was the roast duck curry. It is limited and the most expensive item on the menu. Since we are here we ordered it. The presentation on how the prepare it was nice where they smoke the duck when they serve it to you. It is served with sake infused curry and it was yummy. The duck it self not really tender but it was good. The katsu is yummy the curry is also good. The fries was yummy. Our server was very nice and friendly. At the end we can't finish all so got some duck to go. We went home with happy snd satisfying tummy.
Not much people here on a Thursday night. Service was fast. Place is very dimly lit, gives bar vibes. Curry fries: so crispy! Curry seasoning reminded me of Japan lol. This dipped in the curry sauce is chefs kiss Pork katsu: recommended by the server. Did not dissapoint!! Pork is so tender and juicy, I'd get this with curry over the wagyu - it's more worth it imo. Signature Wagyu curry: Wagyu was good, but wasn't A5 melt in my mouth quality. I've only really had Japanese curry with katsu so this was different and interesting.
This restaurant was on my list to try their curry! It's not common to find curry at least outside of Little Tokyo and a Japanese marketplace. Overall, I enjoyed my food and I would come back! I ordered the Chicken curry and I'm glad I did because the portion was super filling. The chicken was very tender and the thickness of the chicken is generous! I like that it comes with rice, salad, daikon radish, and a side of Miso soup! The curry sauce was good and the flavor reminds you of homemade curry! Service was very fast and attentive. You order on an IPad and electronically sends to the chef. It was an easy process to order. The IPad had translation which I think was Chinese and was confused because I thought this was a Japanese take of curry. Perhaps it's just there for their customers. The restaurant is decorated with various anime figurines and posters. If you enjoy anime, I think you would appreciate this aesthetic.
Cute Japanese restaurant with lots of Japanese decor. I came on a Saturday night at 5pm specifically for their duck curry which is a "10 day dry-aged duck with sake infused curry". The server was super helpful and accommodating, but the duck curry wasn't actually available until 6pm although it is advertised as available after 5pm. I recommend calling if this is what you are coming for. roasted duck curry ($60): 9.1/10. The portion is huge and definitely meant for two people. They give a large portion of duck (I think half the duck is served). It's given as slices, as the wing, and with plenty of duck pieces in the curry! It also comes with some sides like pickled ginger, seaweed salad, and curry mayo which was interesting and tasty. It was delicious but definitely something that I would only get one time for the experience.
I was very excited to try this place as I love Chubby Cattle and was expecting the same quality and taste here. However, I was a bit disappointed. The name of the restaurant is Chubby Curry but the curry was not good. It also did not have much beef or potato/carrot so felt like we were paying for not much. I prefer curry from other restaurants and for the price point, I would not return for the quality and taste.
Amazing spot for curry! Their meats are high quality, service was friendly and efficient, and free 2 hour parking available in the parking garage directly across the street. This was my first time trying Chubby Curry with some friends. We've been to the other Chubby group restaurants like the KBBQ locations so we knew the quality had to be top tier...and we were right! We had some of their curry fries, cucumber appetizer, duck curry, wagyu burger - all were phenomenal. The flavor of the curry is great, strong but not overwhelming. Paired with rice, honestly pair the curry with anything and I'll likely eat it. They have tons of options on their menu so we'll definitely be back to try more!
My friend and my pup came here on Sunday for lunch and thankfully no wait. The servers have us a tablet for us to order from - efficient. As appetizer, we decided to try the Wagyu Soup Dumpling (XLB) - while it was good, there was no soup and definitely didn't taste like wagyu. Onto the mains - friend got Oyakodon (chicken donburi) with Chicken katsu and me, the Pork katsu with curry (which they call "kare"). The oyakodon was a bit too sweet for my taste but good size portion with chicken overload. The curry was okay with big chunks of potato and carrots. My facorite part was the breading - from the chicken and pork katsu were different types for the maximum crunch and felt the meat quality used for the katsu were solid. Thanks Chubby Curry!

Great customer service, and hospitality. The manager Blaire was amazing. There were ppl waiting in line outside and she brought hot tea out since it was a cold night. The food was also great too, I just wish the seasonal dishes were available. I was looking forward to them, and none of them were available. We got the red rice sake, yuzu beer, katsu curry, katsu plate and cucumber salad. Would definitely come again to try their burger and duck curry. We were just craving katsu badly . Side note, portions are big and generous! read more

amazing chicken crisp and tenderness and the curry was very flavorful. i do wish there were more vegetables though. everything was delicious and i loved the whole experience. they do offer unlimited wagyu curry for 28 during happy hour, but tbh i don't think i'll be able to eat more than one serving. we could play connect four while waiting for our food which was so fun and passed the time very well! i didn't win any games but it was still fun! read more

Solid restaurant with interesting decor. Went on a Sunday and it was not very busy, but the servers were nice and friendly. In terms of the food, it was solid, nothing crazy though. The katsu was a tad dry, but the curry was flavorful. The hot bowl was pretty good, would recommend that. read more

I came on a Sunday around 3pm and there was no wait. We parked in a nearby parking structure called City of Beverly Hills Parking and the first 2 hours are free. When it comes to ordering, you order on a tablet and the food comes out relatively quick. Service was good, as our server checked up on us throughout our meal. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Kare and Wagyu Beef Curry. The Chicken Katsu Kare was good overall, but I thought the breading on the katsu was thin and I would have liked a bigger portion of salad. The Wagyu Beef Curry was cooked well and the meat was tender, but I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on the wagyu. Overall, I preferred the Chicken Katsu Kare over the Wagyu Beef Curry, although both are good choices. I knocked off a star mainly because of the prices, as I know of more affordable places with a richer curry flavor and thicker-katsu breading. The interior has a Japanese theme with brown overtones and is a comfortable space to bring anyone to. For me, this was a nice casual lunch spot, but I wasn't particularly wowed. read more

First of all, I would have gave 3.5 stars but there are no halves. I was surprised to find this type of spot in Beverly Hills but it was a nice find. We parked on the street but there is also a lot across the street which they validate for. The service was ok and everyone was friendly but it was a little confusing with the menus and then the QR code menus not matching. My friends and I love Japanese curry and were excited to try this spot. We got the stone pot hamburger, tonkatsu curry, and the duck curry. The tonkatsu was super thick and the curry was dark and had a deep flavor. The stone pot hamburger came with a side of curry and stayed hot the whole time. Now the duck curry came out last and took awhile (which I wish they would have told us about). The duck had a nice presentation and was very meaty but it was also very pricy at $50 something. I also had a white wine and it was one of the smallest pours I've ever had. So overall, I would come again but it was a pretty pricy spot for Japanese curry and I will never order drinks here again. read more

Another establishment in the chubby franchise, this one is situated in Beverly Hills and features Japanese style curry with wagyu. We got sidetracked by the duck special that was offered for the day and ordered it instead of wagyu curry. The portion is pretty generous for the duck special. The duck was well cooked but the curry that came with the duck is a bit too sweet and not spicy enough for my taste. Service was okay, not outstanding read more

Great curry, well priced. Big downside is their extremely heavy front door slams shut hard and loud. It's extremely distracting and unpleasant. The door stop is broken so if it's not slamming shut it's stuck open and with our sometimes cold nights, the place becomes a meat locker. Such an easy thing to fix. I wish they would. read more

We were really excited to try the roasted duck curry but they were sold out when we arrived at 8:30pm. We had the cucumber salad and curry fries, both were a must have! I was excited to try this place because I love Japanese curry. My review will be very short. The curry sauce was insanely sweet yet it had no real bold-complex-flavors. So that's just that. Gonna give my first review ever here: Been here twice, it's safe to say the food is more than just decent, I can compare the Kara with the ones I had in Japan all day long and won't tell any difference, loved it. And the overall interior set up and atmosphere are very welcoming, staff is pretty attentive, seems like they know what they are doing. And man... all the anime statues are amazing. I came here again for their signature roasted duck Kare but I missed out today since they are not ready (dry aged) so I got the stone pot Wagyu, it's quite unique, the flavor blended together well. So yeah, will definitely recommend this place all day long, sad that I don't live in this area otherwise the affordable and reasonable pricing might make this place my 2GO place for causal dine out. read more

Funny thing is, I've been to this restaurant 3 times prior already. If totally being honest, this is actually my least favorite restaurant out of the Chubby Group. I know the curry and meat cuts are supposed to be better than your average curry house, but nothing really stood out for it to be spectacular. To me it's not considered a must-try spectacle, but don't get me wrong, I do enjoy curry and it is good, but not stand in line waiting good. If there's no wait and I'm craving curry, you'll catch me here again. Service however, is the most outstanding and proficient of the Chubby Restaurants in Cali. Xpot being the best. Expected that it is a smaller restaurant. The vibe and interior of this restaurant was very nostalgic. A lot of figurines decorated the restaurant. With a large Batman figurehead in front of the cashier. You can tell the owner was a big anime fanatic. It had a fun vibe and it was pretty quiet most visit. Great place to sit and chat with friends. I believed we pretty much ordered everything on the menu already including side orders, excluding their Wagyu Hamburger and desserts. I've tried all their curries, even the vegan one as well as all their Katsu Sandwiches. One of my favorite curries happens to be their Kamikaze curry. This is for the faint of heart. It's spicy, like real spicy, but the flavor is immaculate. Their Tonkatsu is good but I think it's cut too thick for me to chew and I believe it's a special pork that is like ice cream fed. Could be wrong from what I remembered. Would I recommend this place? Being that I've been here a few times already, I guess I would say, yeah, if your either craving curry in Beverly Hills, or simply looking for a nice place to sit down for a decent price and have a hearty meal. read more

Do they have parking? If not how much and if they validate? Thank you!
There is street meter parking. However just across the street is a spacious garage parking that has 2 hours of free parking and even if you go over, it's not that expensive
Do you have any outdoor seating or certain times when the front doors are open for the more covid conscious? Would love to dine here!
Hi Caroline, our door can be fully slided open, so it's like an open-door situation at our restaurant. We usually keep it opened during the day time when the weather is nice out!
