    Vegetable curry omelet
    Tiara O.

This was my second time eating here and it was even better than the first time. I ordered the vegetable curry omelet. Lightest, fluffiest omelet you'll ever eat! My food was fresh and flavorful. Servers were sweet and one even made some good recommendations for me since I was in search of a sweet treat when I was done with my meal.

Truly nice Coco Ichibanya that is relatively new (at least since the last time I lived in LA, which was ages ago). They have great omelet curries, curry udon and awesome beverages like peach lassis, melon sodas and mixed iced teas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool and spacious interior and on-point service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Check it on Sawtelle!

Went to my favorite Japanese curry spot in Sawtelle called Coco Ichibanya. It is the comfort food that everyone enjoys. Back in the days there was Curry House but sadly they are all gone now. Coco is basically the last one standing. My go to order is the pork cutlet omelet rice with curry. The egg is fluffy and the pork katsu is crunchy, meaty and juicy. I order the level 6 spicy which is just enough spicy to give it a kick. The gravy like curry has hint of spices, sweetness and smooth finish. Each order is just the right amount of food. The Japanese pickles give the dish a nice crunch and you can add as much as you want. This location is in Sawtelle so make sure to check out the dessert spots nearby after your meal. I usually park by the Marshalls which has 2 hour free parking.

Super classic Japanese curry place! I grew up close to a Curry House but they sadly closed down years ago and so this brought back feelings of nostalgia like wowww I've missed this! Sawtelle and Ktown (the 2 locations closest to me) are both out of the way + traffic so I haven't actually had Coco Ichibanya in ages. Pork cutlet omelet curry ($18.25)-- Tastes comforting, homey... everything you want Japanese curry to be. The katsu is not exactly dry but not super juicy either? Can't beat the ones at tonkatsu places but it works as a topping for curry. The omelet was thin and wasn't anything spectacular so I wouldn't get the egg again. This place is known for its customization potential. Pick your rice portion, spice level, toppings etc... buuuut be warned that it can come with a pretty steep price tag. It'll add up pretty quick. The pickles on the table are great!! Goes soooo well with curry and helps cut the fatty/greasy feeling. Or if you're starting to get tired of the taste, have more pickles! The chili powder is good too. Tip-- FREE PARKING!! Just follow the signs for restaurant parking. The entrance is around the corner + drive 1 min further down. There's a ramp to enter. Take the elevator up and you'll be where the restaurants are. They'll validate the parking slip. To get down, just go back to the same elevator (insert slip to scan or else elevator button won't work). Japanese curry is just one of things you have to be in the mood for. If you're craving then this will definitely be the spot for you. Otherwise it'll be kinda meh so just depends on you! Free parking in this area is a great bonus though.

One of my favorite places to eat in LA! So excited when I saw on their website that it said Cupertino is coming soon. The curry katsu with rice is a comfort food of mine from when I was traveling in Korea so any time I eat it, it brings back good memories. Service was quick and the workers were super friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was nice and it wasn't too crowded for a weekend night which surprised me especially since it was during FIFA and 4th of July week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This was a very delicious curry house. I had the pork cutlet omelette curry plate and it was so tasty. Service was great, servers were very hospitable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant is very clean and open.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went later lunch time so it wasn't crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

First time trying Coco Ichibanya and at this location close to Westwood/Sawtelle. It's a pretty reputable Japanese curry place. Since it's in LA, you have to find parking and pay. Luckily there's a public parking garage right across the street for $10 or $11 if paying by credit card. Upon entering I was not sure if it was an order upfront and sit down to eat place or you order at the table and they still bring you the food. It was order at the table and they bring you the food. The menu is pretty large only because you can create so many variations of curry. You can add an omelet too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a pretty busy spot. Pretty down to earth place where some you see large groups and other tables just families sitting down together to eat. Pretty chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall decent portions and very good curry and rice! Highly recommend checking this place out!

    Curry Udon with Chicken Katsu
    Ivan Lawrence A.

Food I love curry and all types of curry. I've also had my fair share of coco ichibanya at different branches inside and outside of the US. I got the curry udon with chicken katsu and I have to say the curry most of the time at coco ichibanya is just okay and passable. If you want reliable curry flavor that you know then this place it and while I did enjoy my order, it could always be better. The curry itself was pretty good and hits you with good flavor but it was a bit watered down which I didn't enjoy as much. The chicken katsu itself was pretty good, nice and crunchy but still kinda tender on the inside. As a whole, the dish was pretty okay Service/Ambiance On a friday night, the place wasn't too packed and our party of 6 got seated pretty much right away. Staff was nice and accommodating and service was pretty quick too.

    Alexandra L.

Pretty good overall taste. I got chicken cutlet omelet. There is much more rice than there is curry. I got regular spice level- adding more spice cost more money. But the spice level not bad. Chicken cutlet is crispy but because it was placed in the curry, it became a lil soggy. Otherwise, the taste itself was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside a little loud, service was fine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would still come again, but not all the time

Staff was super friendly and it's definitely a nice spot to go with friends. The food was pretty decent, definitely not the best curry I've ever had but overall pretty good.

Omg!! I love Japanese curry and this place is a classic. I am so happy to have it on the Westside, especially after Curry House closed across the street. There was a short wait for Saturday night, but nothing crazy. It's only street parking, so be warn that it took longer to find parking than wait for a table. The food! You HAVE to get the keema fries! It's basically chili cheese fries with a bang! It was so good! Got the chicken katsu with vegetables, spice level 2. Level 2 was perfect, it had a kick, didn't linger, just the right amount. I can handle spice but not where it's just on every single bite, so if you want a kick, I think level 2 is all you need. We also go the chicken katsu and the build your own with omelet, add tofu and okra. That was really decent as well. You can really play around with what you like. Overall this place is a nice little spot in Sawtelle to grab some comfort food.

    Pork Cutlet and egg omelet
    Rachel C.

I went to Coco Ichibanya for the first time a few days ago and it was so delicious! My friend and I both ordered the pork cutlet omelet and a curry bun to share. It was so delicious!! The egg was very fluffy and just added additional great flavor. We had a handful of waitresses who checked on us very consistently. At times it felt kind of like they were rushing us, and it was a bit awkward. We were also told to get two of the buns because they are small, but the bun was very big!! Aside from that, it was a great experience!

    Shrimp Curry
    Chrissy L.

The Japanese Shrimp Curry is savory and the shrimp were tender. Can customize the spice level, rice amount, and toppings.

    Curry Rice (medium rice $10.39 + Level 1 $0.20 + Mushroom $2.50)

There are so many possible substitutions and ways to customize your meal to what you like. I ordered the croquette curry and my partner got the menchi curry. He felt the menchi was decent and I really liked mine. Their croquettes are nice and flavorful. The curry has a nice balance of flavors in it, though the mild was even a tiny bit spicy for me. The side order of cabbage with a creamy sauce helped a lot. We also both enjoyed the side salad with sesame dressing. It was a little sweet and a nice addition to the meal. Next time I may do a miso soup! The price is also very fair for the amount of food and quality. I left feeling very full and satisfied with the experience. Highly recommend.

There is street parking around the area but they are paid meters. Cutlet is cooked well with a nice crisp that both my husband and son liked. For spice levels, you can get Mild to extra hot. I get extra hot because I like spicy and its not as spicy as getting spicy at a Thai restaurant so if you can handle spicy then extra hot will be easy. There is a self service water station and the workers check on if you need any refills for drinks purchased. I did have to ask for the radish and then they brought out a good amount for us in a bowl. Theres a TV on the inside and for those watching soccer now, you can catch the game while eating your meal. Outside seating is nice and refreshing but can get a bit windy depending on the day.

This is one of the two places recommended. Street parking on Saturday night was much easier than I thought for 7:30PM reservation. We had no problem finding street parking at all. Food wise, first thing I want to highlight is their kid's mini set. It's a brilliant set - includes skewers, a mini bowl of delicious ramen, a small scope of rice with minced chicken and eggs, and fruit slices. My kid truly loved this mini set. Their skewers were excellent - my personal fave is their beef tongue. Their chicken thigh with onion is solid. I also appreciated the offerings of hearts and other internal organs on the menu too. Their ramen is definitely a surprise to me - they were surprisingly delicious (comparable to top specialty ramen places). This is the perfect spot to satisfy one's ramen and yakitori craving!! Service was great too - food came out hot and we were well taken care of. I can see why this business is so successful in LA. I am now going to add this to my must-do routine whenever we visit LA in the future!
