The rosemary katsu sando and shrimp curry plate were definitely my favorites--both hit just right. The strawberry sando ended up being the surprise of the day, really good and a nice way to finish the meal. Everything else was solid too, especially if you're into katsu. Stopped by with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is pretty casual, medium-sized, and clean. It was empty when we got there. It was my first time here. I was still pretty full from breakfast, so I ordered an appetizer. I got the Korean Gang Jung (Tender bites) Honey Garlic flavor. The meat was extremely juicy and flavorful. I like the katsu bowls here. I get my haircut down the street and the place i used to go to is closed. They do have curry but I'm not into spicy food so hesitant to try it. I was craving katsu curry while i was back in LA and Katsu Bar kept popping up. I'm so glad it did because it hit the mark perfectly. Everything was great from the curry to the strawberry sando to the yubu pocket and the strawberry sparkling drink. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I have eaten all year and also one of my favorite overall dishes this year. It was that good. The rosemary pork katsu sando had berry katsu sauce, crispy and light panko breaded pork cutlet, yuzu marinated cabbage on the milk bread. It was really, really good. I could eat that sandwich every day for months and not get bored. I ordered the combo plate and the waffle fries were excellent. I probably could have stopped there and been quite satisfied but I also wanted to try out their yubu, which is also known as inari sushi. The basic version of yubu is rice wrapped in marinated bean curd. Katsu Bar upped their version by offering a variety of popular toppings. I tried the bulgogi beef and the spicy tuna. Both were excellent. I was so full after eating here. The restaurant is in a food-centric mini mall on 6th street. It looked like they had valet parking but when I pulled up there was a curb spot so I didn't try their parking lot. It looked easy to park but the valet might charge. Katsu Bar is in the corner and has large windows on three sides. The dining room had a nice, stylish look to it. Everyone working at the counter or in the kitchen were nice and friendly. Went on a Thursday night and no wait. Most of the menu items are based on Katsu (obviously), but they do have other options such as ttokpokki, yubu pockets, and udon. I tried their signature sandwich, curry katsu plate, and rose spicy chicken udon. You have the option to choose the protein for your katsu in the sandwich and plate, I went with pork on the sandwich and chicken for the plate, and the type of sauce in the sandwich. I would recommend going for the pork, the chicken was a bit dry. Wasn't too impressed by any of these unfortunately. I liked the bread on the sandwich and the udon noodles. My favorite item was actually their dessert, their strawberry sando. The bread, again, was great, and the cream delicious! Parking: valet $5. Street parking is tough, it's Ktown. TL;DR impressive katsu sando that wasn't too soft/hard to bite into while their yubu pockets were probably more impressive I would recommend this place and come back in a heartbeat. It hits all the right spots, not too oily, and heavy while also having very few people so a great place to enjoy a meal. Came here on a weekend morning and was surprised there was nobody at noon Ktown usually is a little sleepy in the mornings but this allowed a more enjoyable sit-down experience You order through a "kiosk" at the counter and all the items are clearly defined. My friend and I got a set of yubu pockets and the katsu sando combo which turned out to be around $32 post-tax. It was more than enough for two people and what impressed me the most was the yubu pockets which are basically a bean curd skin (think tofu) stuffed with various fillings (spicy tuna, spicy chicken, etc) If the yubu pockets were cheaper, around $10 for a set of 4 I would come back but for around $14 I would probably come a little less regularly given the ease of making it. That isn't to detract from the deliciousness of it just a general opinion on the cost. That said, their katsu sando has to be one of the best outside of Japan I've tried. It's not particularly interesting but the main point was the chicken katsu was crispy enough to have a crunch sound while also being soft and juicy enough to not require more force to bite into compared to the very pillowy milk bread. Additionally, the slaw was not heavy like other places or even Western-style cole slaw which can be overly heavy and weigh down the porous milk bread This place is great, just beware that their service model is more tailored towards takeout since they didn't have staff to bus any of the leftovers from previous customers, and the utensils are all takeout plastics read more
