I don't know why I was hoping and expecting something like Hurry Curry or Curry House, when there was no line at dinner time. Food came out in a timely manner. Ordered the Home Run Combo platter. I frequent Tokyo Central plenty so I've seen their food court change multiple times in the last decade or so. This particular spot used to be a sushi spot, then a bakery, then it was empty for a minute... ... and then a discovery on social media saying this place has opened up! There was even an attached article and was sold before I finished reading the whole thing. Came through with Big Bro and Mom. They both went for the regular pork Katsu. I went for the home run (gotta have that egg and fried shrimp.) Paid, got a pager and patiently waited. Wasn't long before our goodies came out. HOME RUN: It's basically a regular katsu (I got pork) but with boiled egg (cut in half), shrimp and 2 pieces of sausage. Light breading on the katsu and juicy on the inside. Great seasoning! Same with the shrimp - decent size, also. Boiled egg is what it is, nothing out of the ordinary. But what binds all of these together is the curry sauce. It is darker than most Japanese curry plates I've tried, but this has amazing flavor. There's a lot of everything good in it, and has so much depth. The shaved cabbage served as good palate cleansers as with the red fuku. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 4. Very little interaction, but service with a smile and food came out hot and delicious! VALUE: 5. We had walked by this new curry place for a while and finally made the effort to go and sit down at the Tokyo Central Food Court (rather than just getting to go). It's always packed there and this Sunday afternoon was no different. Ordering was easy and fast but it took a while to find a table. Luckily, one opened up, but it was by the sliding door, which was basically opening and closing continually our entire meal. Finding a table at this food court is generally difficult during peak hours and especially on weekends. When our buzzer went off, we walked up to the counter and picked up our food. Tokyo Central has water dispenser and cups for free so we didn't bother buying drinks. The curry was dark and flavorful. The katsu was crispy and crunchy. The sausage had a nice snap to it and the shrimp was plump inside the breading. The meal came with the perfect amount of rice which soaked up all the curry goodness. If you like thicker, darker curry sauces, this place will not disappoint. The closest I could compare Go Go to is Chanpions Curry but I like this my CB better. Usually when I come to Tokyo Central, my go to is Kagura but it looks like they have competition now (and sadly, less than 5 feet away). In the end, it'll depend what I'm craving more. Their curry is darker in color and very flavorful. It is unlike traditional Japanese curry that is slightly sweet. Compared to Kagura immediately next door, the katsu was not at the same level. However, the Kanazawa style curry was exactly the way I remembered it. But now there's a physical store with its original branding! Yay, finally! Stopped by on grand opening (June 26) for lunner. I discovered their grand opening on social media. I ordered the Home Run curry since it was $2 off. Everything (including tax) totaled up to $20. I thought it was pricey, but it is convenient (saves a trip to Japan). The toppings: shrimp, pork katsu, and Japanese sausage were juicy. The pork katsu stood out because it wasn't dry (like other pork katsu I've had in LA). It's very close to the ones I've had in Japan. Unfortunately, the curry was cold when I received it. I also noticed that they skimped on the curry sauce (which I wanted more of), so I was a little disappointed. But, it was good anyway! I love how they served it in the original silverware/plate that they use in Japan! It adds authenticity. It's great to know that I don't have to travel to fulfill my Go! Go! Curry cravings now. Apparently, they've got locations all over Japan so I was curious to find out how good these guys were. I ordered the large pork cutlet curry which cost a smidgen over $20 with tax and tip. Reasonable but I didn't think the large was any bigger than your standard tonkatsu at an average Japanese restaurant. The quality was very good for a takeout stand. The cutlet was nice and crispy on the outside and the meat was reasonably moist. It comes with a generous amount of well cooked rice that was better than most takeout Japanese or Hawaiian places where it can be hit or miss. Nothing worse than dry, crusty rice to kill a takeout plate like this. Good job Go Go. The curry was also very good. It wasn't very spicy which is fine with me but if you prefer a little kick, I'm not sure if they have options for more heat. Definitely worth trying out if happen to be in the Gardena/Torrance area. I'd like to come back and try the chicken katsu to compare with other local places like L&L or nearby mom and pops. You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone if you're in the market for some Japanese groceries. Great selection of Japanese snacks, candy, and beverages at Tokyo Central too. I like that they didn't trim the fat because it adds texture and flavor. The fried shrimp was crispy and came with a dab of tartar sauce. The sausage was smoky with a nice crunch. If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish the standard portion came with a little more curry. I know I could just order extra, but it would be nice if they included a bit more by default. Go Go Curry is located inside Tokyo Central. Seating can be hit or miss depending on when you go, and parking can be tricky. The price is a bit on the expensive side. For the same price elsewhere, you might get runny eggs like in an omurice. But it's really good, so I didn't mind paying a bit more.
