Got a Medium/White Rice with Chicken Cutlet. You get to add 3 free toppings and I chose Potato Salad, Broccoli and Sweet Corn. The curry was delicious. Not sure what ingredients were used but there was some serious depth of flavor in this curry. The Broccoli and Sweet Corn were fresh. I believe I tasted some smoky flavor in the Potato Salad. Ordering is done conveniently through a kiosk.

My daughter thinks the curry is exactly the same as the one she fell in love in Japan. Boy, she is spot on. One of the best curry I have. I have pork katsu as the extra protein with boiled egg, tuna and sweet corn on the side. With hot level of spicy I am surprised that it is not overwhelming the curry flavor. A definite stop again to this "to go" establishment.

Thick & spicy curry! I believe there may be chunks of tender meat inside- so good!

Absolutely loved my first time trying Curryfornia. As a foodie, I am very familiar with Japanese curry and this is probably the best I've had thus far! The curry flavor is rich, thick, and well seasoned. I loved the extra spicy curry over the chicken katsu (crispy & tender), brown rice (fluffy and earthy), corn (bright and sweet), cilantro (fresh), and red pickles (bright and slightly sweet n sour). Such a comforting bowl of flavors! Service was very friendly and helpful. Interior is small yet so charming. Limited seating. Located in my favorite and charming plaza with lots of other local businesses. I will most definitely be back to try more off the menu! Highly recommend.

I'm a curry fiend and the best Japanese curry I've had so far has been hurry curry in SM (iykyk). This place is just as good. When I came, I could smell the strong curry aroma near the restaurant. They don't use the typical curry block and I really appreciate the depth of flavor in their curry. It's a no frills, small spot in a plaza with a few seats inside and outside. Don't try to call because they most likely won't pick up. You can walk in and order on their 2 iPads. I didn't speak with anyone the whole time I was there, they just called orders when ready. I ordered a medium white rice (which was a lot and I didn't finish) with medium heat curry and the fried pollack fish. It's nice it comes with 3 toppings so I got the red pickles, corn, and egg. I paid around $23 and it was a good amount of food. I really liked that they gave plenty of curry. I'll be back to try the other proteins and sides! Highly reco

Have been highly anticipating trying Curryfornia after reading the stellar reviews. It's a secret gem hidden in a strip mall. There was already a line before it opened-that's how you know it's good. I ordered the large extra spicy curry w 3 toppings. I was able to get a table even though there were only 2 tables. I suggest getting there 15 minutes or earlier if you're attempting to secure a table. This is primarily a take out place. The decor is simple and clean. The flavor of the curry is good. I would return but there are no vegetarian curries on the menu. I didn't realize there was going to be meat in my curry. The owner was nice. Love the name Curryfornia, it's clever.

Very unique place. First it's mainly a To-go place, there's only 2 tables with 3 seats total outside to eat at. This is rich, authentic, Japanese curry. It's spicy with a slow cooked pork curry. There's good chunks of pork in the curry. The cutlets are on point, fried to perfection and juicy. You get to choose a barrier of toppings as well which was a nice touch

After hearing positive reviews from friends, I decided to finally try Curryfornia. I came by during the week for lunch. Ordering was easy and through an iPad-type device. I ordered a medium-size dish with rice, medium-spicy flavor, and an omelet-style egg over the rice. As for toppings (you can choose up to 3 for free), I selected broccoli, red pickle, and corn. The wait time was about 5-7 minutes, as I was the only customer at the time. I took my lunch order back to the office to eat. Curry was packed in a separate container from the rice + toppings. Everything was fresh and hot, and tasted so good! Curry was very flavorful and of just the right consistency. This spot is easily one of my favorites after one visit. Can't wait to come back and try other items on their menu!

The shop was very small. There was no indoor seatings, and a couple tables outside. Most people just park and order to-go. The curry could be place via its tablet platforms. Which it takes card and touchless payments. The pricing was be a bit higher than expected with a couple add-ons. Food preparation took slightly long. Nonetheless, the food was delicious and the curry was aromatic. The portion was good for me. This shop is all about to-go orders. I believe it has more potential. Overall, it was enjoyable, but curry in the $20+ range may be slightly high for more frequent visit. It gets a 4.2 out of 5.

This place is a small restaurant that really is for takeout only. There is a table and 3 chairs outside, but it's recommended to take home the food. The interior has a large wall separating what I assume is the kitchen from view. There are 2 kiosks, the takeout shelves on the left, and sparse decorations. There are 2 overhead chalkboards with 4 sizes, 4 spice levels, toppings (3 included), and add-ons. I ordered a medium (300g) curry with medium spice (other spice level are mild, hot, and extra hot) with cheese bacon and egg. I also had a pork cutlet add-on (katsu etc sold seperately). The curry was fantastically flavorful with some beef chunks, a deep robust flavor, and a nice consistency. The curry sticks to the rice and toppings adequately and melds well the white rice and cheese. The bacon is a little too salty and overwhelms the flavor of the curry. Similarly, the pork katsu is a little underwhelming with lighter flavor and slightly soggy texture. All in all, the food was delightful, but I do think the katsu needs improvement.

First time here, thing I noticed is that their are no servers and no indoor seating. You walk up to a table that has an iPad and you out your order in yourself. There is a chalk board above it with what options to select from choose your rice & size either white or brown. Then you pick 3 free toppings and any additional is extra cost like pork cutlet (Tonkatsu) $4.75 or fried chicken (Karaage) $4.75 etc. The order is placed and someone from the back brings it to you or puts it in a pick up shelf. There are two small tables outside that seat 2 people and one that fits maybe 4 but nothing fancy. The indoor decor was collectible motorcycle items. Maybe the owner is a collector. And also some classic record album covers and an old dial phone. I had the curry (hot) with karaage fried chicken. It was delicious with fried onions and a boiled egg. To go. It's definitely a grab and to-go option. The staff did not greet us or say hello so there was no friendly hospitality. The food was good tho. Parking is in a small shopping center, they also have a few handicap spaces upfront. Not sure if you can call ahead and order but that maybe a good option too instead of waiting there.

This place actually lives up to the reputation of being one of the best Japanese curry places in SoCal. It's an unassuming joint, you'll walk into the store that's seemingly unmanned with just two kiosks, but once your order goes through, you'll hear the owner start cooking. In no time, you'll see him come out and bring out your order, and there are tables outside where you can enjoy everything fresh. It's takeout food, and it can seem somewhat pricy for what it is, but it really is a lot of food with plenty of curry and great portions for the toppings. I had the medium sized rice which was more than enough, and had it cooked inside an omelette as well as some tonkatsu alongside some of the complimentary toppings. The curry is kept separate but me being bad at ratios admittedly couldn't keep it good and even, but that's more of a me problem. It can be slightly salty, so do balance it well. It's definitely a very unique and rich flavor profile with a nice kick that I'm still thinking about right now. I wish I had it closer, since it's really just a great no-nonsense meal that's filling and delicious. TIP: You really can't go wrong with customizing the dish to your preference.

When you walk in you have to order on the kiosk since they have limited staff. It was super easy to order this way and you can add whatever toppings you want. I love how customizable it is. We did have an issue with the kiosk since it started to freeze after we paid but the staff was quick to come out and help us. The curry itself is filling, tasty, and definitely worth the price. The curry itself comes with chunks of beef which was extra filling when paired with the chicken katsu I got. There is no seats for inside but there are some outside.

Chicken cutlet curry with potato salad, egg, and bacon chips. Don't let the photo fill you, the potions are generous!

Curryfornia is THE spot for Japanese Curry. My colleague discovered this place about 2 years ago, and it's been our go to spot ever since. There're other curry places around but none as good as Curryfornia. The restaurant itself is small. I believe there's only two people that work there. The chef, and the person who packages the orders. Don't bother calling in, once they get busy (which is all the time) they won't answer the phone. If you're going there M-F during the lunch rush, be sure to get there before noon, because the line quickly gets long! You order on an iPad, and simply wait for your order number. My go to dish is the Medium with white rice. Chicken cutlet, with the sides being potato salad, hard boiled egg, and bacon chips with a medium spice level. All of their ingredients are top quality. The curry itself though. Honestly probably the best I've had to date. Flavor that just keeps you wanting more!

The silky, blended omelet gently draped over the rice was a quiet triumph, and the katsu pork struck that perfect balance--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I ordered the curry at medium spice, but honestly, I think I could easily bump it up a level or two next time. They also offer a rewards program for regulars, which is a thoughtful touch. This time the meat looked different and had far too much sauce on it. There was a dark soy-based sauce that was much more noticeable than before. On my previous visits, the white sauce was the main added flavor and the darker sauce was minimal. This time the dark sauce dominated the dish and changed the flavor. The meat quality was also different than previous visits. It was chewy pieces and had a lot more connective tissue. One piece was so chewy that I eventually had to spit out a large amount of connective tissue. At that point I was no longer enjoying the meal. I really do not like returning food, but this dish was not good, so I sent it back. The waitress spoke with the chef and later told me it was "the same as always," but that was not my experience at all considering how much I enjoyed it on my previous visits. Instead, I ordered the 7 oz galbi set. It came with rice, miso soup, kimchi and bean sprouts. The kimchi and sprouts were delicious. The miso soup was extremely plain with only green onions and no tofu or seaweed, so I mostly skipped it. The galbi had a nice beefy, fatty flavor, but it was extremely chewy and over half of it was fat or connective tissue, so I would not recommend it. The rice was fine. I also tried the beef and potato croquette, which I really liked. Despite the disappointing food this visit, I still appreciated parts of the atmosphere. The relaxing music, comfortable chairs, and responsive waitress made the experience more pleasant overall.
