This is a lot of meat

I'm not yucking anyone's yum, but this is lowkey minimal effort food. Jin ramyun with a slightly more savory flavor and a spoonful of steak should not be $20. I thought they would make a different broth altogether, but it really tastes like Jin ramyun with eggs and whole garlics thrown in the broth. They give you cheap sirloin side cuts cooked to well done; chewy and boring (look at my pictures), there's not much dopamine. There's no seasoning nor sear on the steak either. The creamy broth is just American-style cheese added to their Jin MSG packet broth. I wish they would give more soup, but they're going with the 10x bowl with 1x portion type thing. Don't get me wrong, I really wanted to like this place because all the Yelpers and Googlers do, but I am suspecting they don't cook, is new in town, or just generally young. This is college dorm food priced like a slightly upscale ramen bar. Service is good though, waitiers are friendly and kind. They even ask if we wanted kimchi (which I actually found tasty, very fermented). I miss the old ramen spot that used to be here. I don't like the kpop music videos blasting on the TV, it makes this place feel like a cheap soju bar sans soju.

I made short work of some Sausage Rice Cake (sodduk sodduk) and Dopamine Kimchi Rice. That Dopamine dish is spicy Korean pork mixed with stir-fried kimchi with egg over rice, and served with jungsik with corn and pepper. The entire food pyramid in one dish, I believe. The service was great, the food came out fast and the servers were friendly-- and that doesn't happen too often (to me)! I'll elaborate- the staff humored me and we had a little conversation about what we were doing that night, etc. The space is nice and bright and clean. I think it's good for small groups. KPop music videos are playing on the monitor and Kpop music is being blasted over the speakers- which is awesome! Parking can be tricky on the weekends but there is free or metered street parking in this part of town. I went on a weekday and was able to snag a spot in the parking lot. It was great. I wish I'd made room for some of the three-pepper spice level ramyuns or some appetizers like popcorn chicken.

Tried this place on a whim, spice level is a thing that I believe is up to personal taste, and they have a spice level here on the menu. We got the chili oil spicy creamy ramen, and I believe the oppa ramen, the one originally wanted was apparently very spicy so we got this one, but honestly it wasn't very spicy at all. That's why I say, spice is very personal! The chili oil ramen was pretty good, perfectly cheesy and had a nice cheese pull. Broth was good, not too salty. Quick customer service and friendly as well. Can come in and dine in or order to go, saw both happen for even single diners, lots of seating. Very casual place located in a distinct area.

If you love ramen, Oppa Ramyun in LA's Koreatown is a must-visit They're known for their flavorful ramyun bowls, and I had to try their new Creamy Crab Spicy Ramyun -- rich, creamy, and full of bold crab flavor with just the right amount of heat. It's the kind of bowl that warms you up instantly and keeps you craving another bite But don't stop at the ramen -- their other dishes are just as impressive! The Steak Egg Plate is a sizzling combo of juicy steak with a perfectly runny egg on top, pure comfort on a plate The Oppa Katsu Original comes out golden and crispy, with tender meat inside and that satisfying crunch in every bite For something fun and shareable, the Sausage Rice Cake is a mix of chewy tteokbokki and savory sausage in a sweet-spicy sauce that's seriously addictive And you can't forget the Cheesy Corn -- creamy, melty, and the perfect side to balance all that spice To top it all off, the Spam Ramyun Fried Rice might be one of the best things on the menu -- a comforting fried rice loaded with spam, a hint of spice, and that signature ramyun flavor all mixed together Every dish felt like the perfect mix of homestyle comfort and K-town flair. Oppa Ramyun really knows how to hit every craving -- whether it's spicy, cheesy, or crispy

Our little foodies approved! Oppa Ramyun in K-Town with its science lab vibe was such a fun New spot. The place is clean, in a convenient location, and easy to visit. The ramen is perfect for those who love chewy noodles--just like my husband, who prefers this style over Japanese ramen. They actually use Jin Ramen noodles here, which gave it that authentic Korean comfort food vibe. Homemade horchata blend--so creamy, just like the one I love at Guisados. It was such a nice surprise! Definitely a must-try! We went a bit early for dinner, but even during our meal, lots of delivery orders were coming in, which shows how popular it already is. I think they'll grow quickly since they seem open to customer feedback. Overall, it's a fun, cozy, and promising spot in K-Town that I'm excited to see succeed!

First time I came to this restaurant in person after ordering from here for a while and it is worth every penny!! This is a little hidden gem in Korea town, very lively set up with plenty of seating space for such a small location and very well decorated. Culture music playing in the background to really immerse you. Special shoutout to Cindy who welcomed us with the biggest smile, was super attentive and joyful and really her energy just made my day. We went for the super creamy ramyun, I had the pork belly and my friend had the steak. The noodles had a great consistency and plenty of them. The broth lived up to its name: thick, creamy, rich. The steak portion was on the smaller side but still tasty. Personally, I preferred the pork belly, it was thinly sliced and easy to eat with the ramen. For my taste, the broth leaned a little too heavy on the creaminess, but that's what I signed up for, I'll just try another style next time. Don't get me wrong, it's still delicious and well-seasoned. Just note: it's not spicy. This one tastes more like a creamy marinara-soup-meets-ramen situation. Different, but still really satisfying. We also split the popcorn chicken to start, and that was a delicious. Crispy, juicy, and the two dipping sauces it came with were fantastic. Highly recommend grabbing it as an appetizer.

How am I supposed to eat normal ramen after eating here? The ramyun here was so creamy and had such a nice kick that it's impossible to eat elsewhere. The flavors here are also so unique that even if it sounds like it's available elsewhere, the taste is is not. It's fine if you want to grab one of their other dishes, but do NOT waste your opportunity and order something that is not on their ramyun section. I ordered the creamy ramyun oppa special, which was so creamy and warms your entire inside. And it actually gives a kick. It's not as spicy as the spice heads would like, but it's enough to give you an enjoyable kick in every bite. This was the first time I drank all the soup, no leftovers at all. The servers here are also super nice. They were very quick with refills, especially when they saw how much we enjoyed the side dishes. They never stopped despite how much we went through. The decor and design of the place is very cute too. It's not too big so can't do more than maybe 2 big parties at a time as most of the places are placed as bar tops. Otherwise it's a very comfy seating arrangement. I appreciate the wall designs of Donald Duck and McScrooge. A little cute touch for the Disney fans that visit. Even their uniforms match a lab theme, white coats instead of aprons. Love this place

Im a soup girly and I love a good rich broth. One of the best broths I have ever had it's so rich. Workers are friendly and chatty and fast. Wish I lived in LA to come back next week. Noodles are almost exactly like instant ramen noodles

    Estele K.

Food 4/5: everything was good except the appetizers. The ramyun tasted on point though. It was the perfect elasticness of noodle and the soup was perfected seasoned. Service 5/5 friendly staff with lab coats. Ambiance 5/5

This is an amazing place for Korean food in Ktown. It's not cheap but the ramyeon and rice dishes are very good. Cheese katsu is unexpectedly the best I've had for a big while, although they said they don't have it everyday. Steak & egg is very good both ramyeon and rice plate. Parking is valet and it's $3-5 I don't remember exactly. Friendly servers.

This seems to be a new up and coming restaurant in the heart of KTown that specializes in the science of ramyun! The staff were friendly and wearing lab coats which was a fun spin on ramen science. When I had a mix-up on my order, they fixed it easily! The interior was also cute. If you like chewy al dente ramen this place is for you. I personally prefer mine completely cooked and soft but that's a personal preference. They didn't have too many vegetarian/pescatarian options (I was looking forward to the tuna kimchi bowl which they no longer have). It seems like the menu changes as they're still finding the groove of their place. I enjoyed it and especially want them to succeed!

Oppa Ramyun delivers authentic flavor with a fun K-pop vibe. The Steak & Egg Ramyun was hearty and comforting, while the Seafood Whole-Shabang Ramyun came loaded with fresh flavors, spice, and generous portions. Service is quick, the space is clean, and the music ties the culture together--an easy go-to spot for ramen lovers.

Came here for lunch with a group of friends and they all love it! The price is not expensive for ramen and a lot of different choices. We ordered ramen and rice bowl and they are all good. The service was good even thought there were a lot of people at lunch time.

I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more.
