I visited Chuan pot for the first time this past weekend, on a Saturday to be exact. When I went there were a few people in there celebrating a birthday but other than that it was pretty empty. The place is very inviting, a decent size with plenty of tables. For drinks I had their Strawberry Matcha and it was pretty good. They have all you can eat hot pot with a few broth options, meats, appetizers and ice cream. We ended up ordering clean and clear and the spicy miso. They have lunch specials Monday through Thursday.

We have visited this restaurant with the ownership change and wow what a difference!! Meat selection was very fresh and the self serve veggies and sauces were fresh as well and everything was clean! Our server I think his name was Rafael was very professional and was attentive to us the entire time. Highly recommended! I'm glad we gave this place another chance with the new change. Both of our broths were very flavorful the spicy Japanese miso and the sichuan broth was delicious! Very flavorful! I would only say the AC didn't keep up and we were pretty hot but it was 100 degrees outside so I would imagine the AC just wasn't keeping up. But if it was cooler in there it would have perfect. Either way we would return!!

First time here with my family. It was fairly priced. I like the selection of meat choices since we basically only eat brisket, beef round, beef chuck eye, and lamb. They do have chicken and pork as well. We enjoyed the other amenities: the sauce bar, assorted seafood, assorted vegetables, and assorted noodles. All of it was fresh and yummy! The servers were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is roomy and good for group gatherings. Parking is not an issue for it is in a plaza. We will definitely come back.

My family and I (group of 5) had a Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We arrived right at opening so we were seated right away and only half of the restaurant was occupied. Our order was taken right away and given right away too. We ordered mushroom and spicy miso broth. I felt the spicy miso had great flavor, but wished it was spicier. I wish I could have tasted more umami/mushroom flavor in the mushroom broth. There's a cold bar where you can get various seafood and vegetable items. There's a lot of options for both. Good quality for the vegetables and seafood. Same can be said for the meat. Everything is all-you-can-eat for a reasonable price ($25 for lunch and $30 for dinner).

With the amount of ayce hot pots places around, it's tougher to stand out. I tried their house special broth and their "Yao Hon" Cambodian broth. Not sure if it was the sauce I made, but everything was salty. The workers are very friendly and attentive to us, but they did not check or restock the self-serve bars. The vegetables, garlic, green onions, cilantro, rice were all empty. Overall the variety for AYCE is lacking.

Went here for my birthday a while back since I was craving hot pot and it was SO DELICIOUS! This place is so special because they have a Cambodian broth called yao han and it was so rich in flavor. My husband is Khmer and said it tasted very close to how his mom makes it. The owners were so sweet and the service was so fast! The really took care of us. There were many options for the veggies and meat also. I was impressed with the cleanliness because some hot pot AYCE places don't put the same amount of care. We will definitely be back and will bring our family too!

I went with my boyfriend for the first time. The meat selection menu was really small, only 8 choices. There was a 90 minute time limit. The rules for how many meat platters we could order was confusing. We asked twice for clarification and we were still confused about the meat platters. I overheard other customers ask again as well, they were confused by the rules too. This restaurant is supposed to be all you can eat (AYCE) but that seems inaccurate and misleading. We ordered spicy miso and clean & clear broth. The broths were good! We didn't get individual pots, so the temperature was super inconsistent. My broth was barely boiling, while his was boiling nonstop. The veggies (mushrooms, carrots, tofu) were still too tough and chewy after boiling 40 minutes. We used forks but they only had small plastic ones. Our bowls were small and metal, so we couldn't pick it up while eating. The platters had only 4-5 slices of thin meat. The service was fair. The ambiance was okay, there was music in the background and lots of space. There were 3 big frozen self serve areas, seafood, veggies, sauces. The restaurant was empty, considering it was lunch time. There was a good variety of toppings, meat and seafood. We went for lunch special for $25/person. It was not worth the price, limited meat selection and fair service. Empty restaurants are foretelling.

Came for lunch on a weekday to avoid the crowd. This place offers good value for the price along with a large selection of hotpot items. The place is clean with plenty of dining space.

Definitely coming back here soon! One of the best hotpot places I've been to. Amazing service and they have good selections of veggies and meat. My favorite was definitely their beef short plate. The marbling was incredible and everything tasted amazing. I also love how the interior of the place is decorated. They opened up pretty recently so I would definitely recommend!

Needed to find a replacement for Shabuya and Broth which have both been going downhill. Happy to stumble upon this savory little gem in a busy strip mall next to H mart. The restaurant just changed ownership and the new owners are lovely, attentive and wonderful people. Talk about a great mom and pop shop! Now for the food. You can select two broths for the table. (The pot was huge btw!) We chose the House Special which was very spicy and had the Szechuan kick and spicy miso. Both broths were flavorful with just the right amount of spices. The meats were fresh and tasty. They also had a great seafood and salad bar that had a great variety and all the selections scrumptious. Overall, the food was great, the staff was superb (shoutout to our adorable waitress, Elissa!) and the restaurant super clean. Will definitely be back.

It was bomb and a great deal $25 AYCE lunch. Flavorful broth, tender meat, wide seafood and veggies and sauce selection. Servers checked on us a lot too.

Went after noon for lunch. Miso broth was flavorful. Liked the sauce options, meat selection and veggie / noodle / seafood bar. Ice cream included and there was promotional free tea or thai tea which was very much appreciated. Service was good. The server comes to check on us.

It was 79 degrees inside, muggy, humid, and completely uncomfortable. We almost turned around and left immediately. The place was practically empty, which honestly should have been our first red flag. We decided to give them a chance anyway. Big mistake. My colleague and I were offered water or hot tea. We both ordered hot tea. The menu clearly says in English that hot tea is $2.99. Nowhere does it clearly explain in English that you will be charged differently depending on how many people drink it. When the bill came, we were charged $5 each. Apparently, there is some clarification written in Chinese, but how are customers who do not read Chinese supposed to know that? That is completely misleading. The tea portions were not larger, not special, nothing different. Just basic tea. The pricing felt deceptive. We also ordered popcorn chicken and chili wonton soup. Both came out in tiny portions that looked like appetizers, yet the menu does not clearly label them as such. For what we received, paying over $30 total felt ridiculous. The food itself was mediocre at best. Nothing memorable and definitely not worth the price. Because of the uncomfortable temperature, confusing pricing, small portions, and average food, we chose not to leave a tip. As we were walking out, the waiter chased us outside and pressured us about the zero tip. That is completely inappropriate. Tipping is not mandatory. It is earned. Confronting customers outside over a tip is unprofessional and embarrassing. Between the heat, the questionable menu pricing, the small portions, and being confronted outside, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. We will never be back. There are plenty of better places within the same plaza than to dine here. I don't expect this place to last long anyway.

Unfortunately, service was rough from the start. We sat for about 10 minutes without being greeted or even acknowledged. Honestly, even a quick "I'll be right with you" would've gone a long way. Instead, our server (young woman with tattoos) continued helping the tables to our left and right before finally coming back to us. Drinks also took a while to come out, and although she took our order, she never once checked back on us afterward. The restaurant itself was actually very nice inside and the temperature was perfect, especially considering how packed it was. To be fair, other staff members did step in and help throughout the night. Howard the busser was extremely attentive with drink refills, and another server helped bring requested sides like peanuts for the Pad Thai, the chili platter, and our to-go boxes. Honestly, they helped save the experience. Food: * Chicken Pad Thai -- 4.5/5 Really good flavor and portion. * Tom Yum Shrimp Soup -- 5/5 Flavor was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal, though the shrimp upcharge was only about 5 pieces so the portion felt a little light for the extra cost. * Papaya Salad (+ shrimp) -- 3/5 Needed to be colder and the sauce lacked a little punch. Our Pad Thai was also accidentally delivered to the table next to us first, though thankfully they caught it immediately and it was brought over quickly. What stood out was that the tables around us were also visibly frustrated and having service issues, so it felt more like the restaurant was overwhelmed overall rather than a one-table issue. The food itself was good enough that I'd come back and give them another try on a normal day instead of one of the busiest holidays of the year.

I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5
