Chris is the most inept "mechanic" I've ever had the displeasure of taking my car to. After misdiagnosing the problem, he proceeded to waste thousands of dollars of my money throwing parts at my car, then finally incorrectly "fixed" my engine in a way that resulted in further damage. I ultimately had to take it to the Mercedes dealership, who ended up spending less of my money than Chris had to solve the additional problems Chris had created, and who diagnosed the original problem correctly, which was only a $175 fix, even at inflated dealership shop prices. When I showed the paperwork to Chris from the dealership to explain to him what the actual problem had been in an attempt to get some of my money back, he told me to - and I quote - "eat a dick if you don't like my work," and then he screamed at me to get out of his shop. This man is certifiably insane, and you would do well to go to pretty much any other shop in town if you want to get your Benz fixed properly. read more

Was referred to Chris by a body repair shop because we wanted to support a local business and avoid the crazy prices at VW Dealer for my son's Passat. Chris is an amazing guy (his stories!!) really knows what he's doing and prices are fair. There are some stinky reviews here about the location. I advise that you find a great place to hang out nearby while he works on your car. Pettirosso Cafe is close, and is dog-friendly. Have a coffee, a snack and hang out inside or at one of the sweet tables in the alleyway. Or take a walk through peaceful Seattle University nearby. You'll be better for directing your business here. Finding the shop's door at this funky building will be your biggest challenge - it's a treasure inside. read more

No complaints. Chris knows his stuff. His shop specializes in German vehicles and I'm so dang happy I live in the same neighborhood where his business is located. I needed an oil change for my 2003 330i. The "needs oil light" had come on. And it was very red, and very blinky. I knew that had to be bad.. very bad. Chris shop is a stones throw from my apartment. So of course he was the first call I made, especially since he is a German car specialist. The first thing I noticed about Chris when I called, he's a cool guy. No seriously, you pick up on it instantly.. he's a cool dude. He is knowledgeable, no nonsense and straight to the point, yet extremely personable. You know the type of wise mechanic that feels like a friend of a friend? That's Chris. Lucky for me, someone had no showed him, he had room to see me ASAP! I took my car in. Chris let me know what he was going to do and I gave the thumbs up. I provided my own oil (fancy oil that I purchase online).. I appreciated the confirmation form Chris that the oil I bought is the type I should definintely be using. He let me know he'd give me a call when he was done with my vehicle. A couple of hours later... boom all done. He let me know he'd checked a few other important things on the vehicle, (brakes and stuff etc.) changed the oil (and filter of course), my vehicle received a passing grade, I paid for my oil change which was very reasonably priced.. and I was good to go! Great experience. Personable guy and clearly talented passionate German vehicle specialist and small business owner who knows his stuff. AMAZING experience! I purchased a 2000 230slk in September and had a local shop work on it. To be fair, they got the specific job done, but it took 3 weeks and they kept mentioning how hard it was for them and didn't look forward to the next services that needed to be done! So I found Chris, thank the gods! He KNOWS not only german cars, but my car in particular and even has a pic of the exact same car on his website that he owns and loves! Not only is Chris a master mechanic, he's a really cool person! These other bad reviewers probably were entitled jerks. Just saying. Anyway, not only did he fix EVERY thing, but he shined it and made my little car sparkle inside and out! Most importantly, it took a tenth of the time and COST for 75 percent MORE work!! RAD! I called Chris this morning at about 11:00 with an issue I was having with my car. He provided me with some help over the phone with towing resources and even stated he wouldn't charge me for diagnostics if he was able to determine what the cause of the issue was in a relatively quick period of time. When he found out I was local, he stated he would he would make time for me to come in for him to take a quick look at it if I could get it there. The whole conversation was about four minutes. Once I determined I was able to get the car to his location, I called him back at 11:55 and was advised he wasn't on site and would need until around 3 o clock to be back on site for me to bring the vehicle by. Fast forward to 3:40 (now). I arrived at the facility and tried the door but it was locked. I went back to my vehicle and called twice, getting a response on the second try and advised Chris, "Hi, this is Diondre, we spoke about the issue I was having with my 5-Series earlier. I'm at the shop now and was wondering if you were in the area." His condescending response was, "well no I'm not otherwise I would be there wouldn't I." I didn't say anything because I was a bit caught off guard. He continued to say he would be at the shop in a few minutes and questioned 'Hello' due to my silence. I then responded and asked why he had an attitude over the phone. That was too much for Chris, as he then said "wow, ok, you and I don't have a relationship and I think you should find someone else to fix your car." - No problem. I'm sure Chris knows how to fix a car, but he certainly lacks the basic interpersonal customer service skills it takes to have a simple conversation. Very condescending, no patience, and most of the things he told me were just wrong. Hi everyone, hi Chris! I recently visited Chris to determine what was wrong with my car. He diagnosed a dead secondary air injection pump and misfire on cylinder 3. I went to work and came back in the evening to get my car back. He replaced both the pump and the ignition coil. Then the next morning engine light came back and I went to him again, he didn't know what's wrong with it because the codes were the same as at the first time. He contacted BMW for more info. He doesn't tell to you what could be wrong, he wants you to come back. I tried to arrange an appointment but he didn't really want to make it, ignored me several times. I decided to find another mechanic to work on my car. Then I discovered that Chris changed my ignition coil with Bosch but promised that it would be some other brand that BMW recommends now. Also he didn't replace the spark plug, but he should have done at the same time while working on the coil. And it looks like he just replaced the pump without even looking at the check valve and other related parts that were bad too... But he should have done that. It takes about 20-30 minutes to change air pump and 5 mins for ignition coil. He charged me 888$ with taxes: 400$ for air pump and 80$ for coil, 2.2 hours of labor for 340$ total. I have no issue with the price of pump but one coil for 80$ (really costs about 30$) and even not the one he promised? 2.2 hours for the work that takes max 1 hour? Also he is not that punctual, the shop supposed to open at 9am, but he comes around 10:30 and even later. I wouldn't recommend Christopher if you need quality service and want a fair price. read more

Well, this review is entirely overdue....and I don't usually write these things so apologies if it is a bit clunky. I have worked in the premium auto industry in Seattle and the SF Bay Area for over 26 years. Although there are many "Import Specialists" with good reputations on the Hill, as a vehicle dealer, I would always opt to have any Porsche vehicles that we acquired brought to Chris to have necessary work done prior to selling them. I always appreciated his (sometimes brutal...but always accurate) candor regarding the state of the vehicles that I brought to him and the necessary work that would be required to sell them to an end user....or if we should not retail them to a client at all and send them to the auction. Fast forward 8 years.... After returning from working for a time in the Bay Area, we had an impromptu road trip to Eastern Washington that was planned in haste for a small group of friends. At the last minute, we opted to take a Porsche that had not been serviced or driven for a while. With 48 hours notice, I called Chris, who offered to squeeze the car into his schedule, change the oil and look the car over prior to hitting the road. I dropped the car off the following morning, reintroduced myself, talked briefly about the recent changes to the neighborhood and I was on my way. A few hours later, Chris called to let me know that the car had a water pump that was starting to leak. He sent pictures over along with a preliminary estimate. Upon review, we opted to authorize the work but we were concerned with his ability to complete the work as we were heading out the following morning. Chris called his family and cleared his evening schedule, ordered the OEM part from the dealer in Bellevue, had it rush delivered to his shop, installed it along with replacing the serpentine belt (which was a no labor charge install as he was in that area of the engine compartment replacing the pump) and called me at 8:00 pm that night to let me know that the car was available for me to pick up that evening, or that he would come in early the following morning to make sure that we were off on our trip without delay. I arrived that night to find the car out front, cleaned and ready. More importantly, Chris was at the front door of his business with a neighbor assisting with making sure that a woman with special needs who had wandered into the front door of his business in distress was getting the care she needed and had a safe place to stay that night. You just can't make this stuff up!!! Chris, you are a great mechanic and have always had my trust. The work you performed was perfect and your estimate and explanation of the repairs performed was spot on...as always.... Thank you again! I normally don't post to Yelp, so this is an exception for me. This shop's owner is an ace mechanic and he actually worked on my 911 which is great having an expert mechanic work on my car. Probably should not mention this but his price to fix my car was really a great value, in fact he fixed another small problem that no one could figure out and told me "it only took 10 minutes, don't worry about it". Now my car is fixed and its fixed right the first time, and another small nagging problem also is resolved!! I was referred here by my old uncle who this shop did a complete 911rebuild for. I no longer live in Seattle, but I was recently in town visiting friends and my car started to act up. I remembered that there used to a shop that I liked, and I dropped in. No appointment and I was probably a bit of a jerk due to stress. The guy who helped me I think was the owner, and although I remember him as a bit surly on previous stops, I was always very pleased with the work that he did. At any rate, he looked at my car, and the problem turned out to be very minor. I paid him for his time, but there weren't even parts needed. He really saved me! read more
