I found this company on Yelp after running into an electrical issue during a home remodeling project. I called Christenson Electric and initially spoke with the dispatcher. The dispatcher referred me to their residential technician directly. I called him and left a voicemail and had a return call within several minutes. I was in the process of scheduling a same-day appointment, which Jeremy graciously offered me. I ended up resolving the issue without the help of the company, but appreciated the prompt courteous service and availability for what seemed like an emergency at the time. I contacted Christenson Electric about installing a ceiling fan. The electrician showed up, removed the light fixture that was there and said I needed a new box better suited for a fan. Because I live in a condo, the HOA wanted a bit of information about the new box before we could proceed. Christenson never got back to me with this simple request even though I called them three times over the course of three weeks. Finally, I called Tice Electric and they provided the needed information in less than an hour. I'm sitting under my new fan now and still have not heard back from Christenson. Please read all the reviews on google as well before thinking of using this company , there are so many bad reviews. I wish I would read them first myself. I was quoted $3000 to $3500 for putting electricity in our shed. It truly was a long-term process. I felt our job was at their convenience, not a priority. I paid OVER $3500. they sent me another bill for $206 and I had to call and complain so they gave me a credit. I truly believe they would've charged me that extra money if I didn't complain! ....on top of overcharging me, they then took an additional $70 for credit card fees. I would never use this company again and I recommend you don't. I truly believe you will be frustrated and disappointed as well! read more

These guys came in with only a few days notice somehow to wire up my new set of twin furnaces. That's pretty great! Other places were 2-3 weeks out. There was a problem with the twin splicing but when we called them about it they dropped everything and headed back to us. They were only $29 more than what was quoted, so that was fantastic. These guys bill for time sitting in their vans, for tools and for work fine incorrectly. After all of that the refuse to fix errors and omissions which are directly tied to their lack of understanding for the building code. I had to spend $4300 to fix their mistakes on a job that was bid at $4500 and went $5500 over budget. They are a horribly ran company with no ethics. read more

We had an electrical problem (no lights in several rooms) that I suspected was because there was too much voltage being pulled from one breaker. We did the usual things, turning off breaker switches, turning them on again, etc, but the power still didn't come back on. So I called Christenson's last night and they had someone out here at 8 a.m. today. Chris was right on time, very friendly, and diagnosed the trouble, and shazam! We had lights. Chris was extremely courteous, and really knew his job. He was barely here an hour. I appreciated that he could get out so soon, and will definitely use Christenson's again if we have any electrical troubles again. read more

It always happens on the weekend, right? One of my residents called to let me know that there was no electricity available in their apartment at all, which means no lights, but the real money shot was the food in the refrigerator would start going bad after a certain point. I advised my resident to not open the refrigerator to keep as much cold in the fridge as possible and called Christenson Electric. Christensen's dispatcher, Bernie, was great and encouraging and sent Darren on over to take a look. After walking the apartment together and looking at all the usual electrical suspects, Darren felt he could get it fixed fast. I went back to work in the office and within a half-hour Darren was back. He explained there had been a loose neutral in the electrical panel and all he had to do was tighten it up. He had me sign off on his work voucher, and even with Sunday time-and-a-half, I didn't pass out at the price. This was another one of those happy endings and it didn't take up the whole day to get the work done. My resident was thrilled, as was I, and lots of thank yous were given to Darren and Bernie. So my power went out yesterday at my house, RIP little squirrel. An hour later the power came back on but I was missing power in two of my rooms WTF? So I called PGE and they sent a lineman out to check on it and everything was fine coming into the house on their end so it was a possible connection issue inside. I called Christenson because we use them at work. Didn't even ask the price, was too afraid too, just asked them to come out this morning. Dan called the night before and asked what time was good for me in the morning and I was the first call so he was few minutes early. Real nice guy, very polite. It took about an hour for him to find the problem, it was a wire connection and he fixed me right up. I still have my shirt and my first born! read more

This company is horrible. One of their drivers backed into my daughters door over a week ago. Nothing has been done to take care of it . Their insurance company told us it was up to Christenson Electric whether they would take care of it or not. Days later we were told they were turning over to their insurance company. my daughter has to go to school and work and she has a car thats door won't close. The insurance company is giving us the run around and told my daughter to quit calling them since they were on vacation and just got back into the office. I can't imagine what it would be like to do business with this company if this is the way they deal with an accident where they are at fault! read more

Tom was on it this early Friday evening, breezy day lights flickering for an hour. We thought it was a circuit issue. Called them for service... oh man there goes some moolah out of my pocket. 20 min later Tom called back with advice to call the utility to check the powerline to the house. With half the power suddenly out in our home, which included ALL of our major appliances, at 6:30pm, we didn't know what to do. But, because I see their trucks all over town I thought of Christensen's Electric. I called, got the answering service, told them what was going on, and got a call back in minutes. Please read this carefully as this is a fair and unbiased review. 1) they do not provide high quality customer service and provide unequal costumer service depending upon the office mood and client resources 2) there is no culture of listening to a clients needs and understanding how best they can best provide service 3) There is no culture of safety (their employees are overworked and then they allow them to drive distractedly on the roads and cause accidents. In summary, the employees are dissatisfied which reflects on their poor work and now is leading to poor interactions with others in the community. If they were the last company in Portland which were able to provide services, I would not choose this company. read more

Really great and timely help. I needed electrical done before my plumbing disaster (broken line) could be fixed. Mike gave me a quote over the phone and called me back as soon as he had a break in the schedule. The electrician who came out was polite, friendly and explained everything that he was doing. In 2014 Christenson did the electrical portion of a home remodel that we had done. We had multiple little problems through the remodel including silly things like crooked outlets and light stitches, they relocated switches due to walls moving and then just put a random blank plate in the middle of a wall instead of having the contractor patch, they removed things from places that they weren't told and didn't make any sense. At the end we were left with a hodge-podge of electrical and it took a threatening phone call and several visits to make minor repairs, and we finally just gave up and accepted the job. For two years if I use more than one outlet at a time the breakers blow, and heaven forbid I try and vacuum with the light on. Our newer box had plenty of circuits left but rather than pulling new wires, they just piggy backed onto existing. I finally had an electrician out today who in four hours fixed everything Christensen left, plus completed other work that we wanted done. I can finally vacuum without blowing a breaker and I'm looking forward to putting lights on the Christmas tree this year! I would never use Christenson again. read more
