Alright, alright, alright. Where do we start? My wife and I met Chris Matthews back in October/November of 2024. We connected through a Homes.com search--ran filters for realtors with the highest volume of buy & sell transactions over the last five years--and he was at the top of our list. We had a few referrals from our network, but Chris was incredibly responsive, and our first call was solid. Long story long, we moved to Austin around that time, and Chris was there from the very start. He's direct in the kindest sense of the word, and he 1000% loves what he does. He figured out what we liked and didn't like, but that honestly didn't matter much because we had no idea where we wanted to live. Throughout the holidays, we went into escrow--then had to pull our offer days before closing due to the inspection. Chris's response? "If you guys want to change directions, we can start looking for new properties tomorrow." This was after he spent two hours inspecting the place himself, pushing the builder to add new gutters, fix the lawn's grading, and leading the blue tape charge on 3,500 square feet. Later, he talked us through properties that looked great in person but wouldn't appraise on paper, and ultimately, he helped us land the perfect place. Frankly, the guy knows every aspect of a real estate transaction inside and out. I don't know if he's so well off that time doesn't matter, but he had to lose money on us. He over-invests, and odds are, you'll make a good friend in the process--like we did. Rather than just sending homes from the multiple listing, Chris culled the homes that met our criteria and patiently showed them to us.  He was always available and made us feel like we were his only clients, although we knew that was far from true. As far as being knowledgeable, Chris told us when he thought a house was overpriced and was able to identify both good and bad aspects of a house and area.  He also told us what would be needed to make improvements and repairs. In addition to being patient, Chris has a great sense of humor and makes buying a home even in a crazy competitive market a good painless experience. And we do not believe you will find a more dedicated realtor.  Chris showed us a house the morning of a scheduled afternoon surgery!  We later found out that he went to a closing the day after that surgery.  When we finally found our "forever house" Chris made sure everything went smoothly.  He always made us a priority and was present through every step of the transaction. Chris was an outstanding realtor! He was my second realtor and really made me realize what I was missing in my first one. Chris used both of our times efficiently, showed me only houses that met my specs and were generally likable for what I was looking for. In the fast paced market in Austin, I could trust Chris to get me in quick - as one of the first to see homes - and act quickly when I liked a house. Chris is the best. Before contacting Chris, I had no experience with the process of buying a home. That did not seem matter with Chris. He was willing to help every step of the way. At the time I wasn't even approved for a loan (He told me how to do this too) but we started looking at houses anyway. He took care of everything and I trusted him with every decision and have not regretted it. One of the biggest concerns I had when deciding to buy a house and getting a realtor was that he or she was going to give up on me because I was being too indecisive. Then he or she would try to pressure me into something I didn't like just to end working with me and get his or her commission. It would have worked too. Chris never pressured me. He actually calmed me down. It seems like we must have seen 100 homes. As we went to more, I got a better feel for the area and for what was available. Chris was patient as I learned about what was and was not important to me and what type of style of home I really preferred. His patience help me make the best decision possible. He also would give me his honest opinion of every house we went in. He would tell me if it was in a good neighborhood, if it was overpriced, or a bargain and worth upgrading. He knew what I wanted and helped keep me on track and prevent me from settling on something I was not going to be happy with. When I did get an offer accepted, Chris took care of everything. All I had to do was sign the checks. He got an inspector he trusted and worked with before, scheduled all the appointments, he told me how to get home owners insurance, and a home warranty. After the inspection we got them to drop the price I think like $5,000 because of the work I would need to do. Here is the wisdom that Chris has and all realtors should look to have. I hate buying warranties. Every time a store salesman asks if I want to buy the extended warranty, I always decline. The AC on my house was old. There was no getting around it. Chris convinced me to get the home warranty if only for the AC because when it goes and it will, the warranty will pay for itself. Over the past 2 years I have had someone working on the AC or heat every time the temperature outside changes. It seems like it is always broken. Some of it was my fault but was fixed by the company. The most recent issue is the reason I write this review. The AC is currently broken as I type this review and the home warranty will cover the $3500 condenser replacement. Thanks for looking out, Chris. Finally, one of the best parts of meeting Chris and having him help me buy a house was that he is STILL willing to help. He knew I was going to be doing some work on the house. He mentioned that he "Knew a guy." So whenever I am looking to get work done on my house I send Chris a quick text and he recommends someone. I have also received emails from him which he sends out to all his clients on how to navigate the intricacies of being a homeowner. The last one I received was about the correct way to dispute a raise in your home's tax appraised value. It helped me understand one more thing that I didn't know about owning a house. Chris was amazing. He really enjoys what he does and is always willing to help. Chris is amazing!!! My fiancé and I up and decided to buy a house on the spur of the moment. We had no idea what to do or where to begin. We did a search online of the best Austin area realtors and several names popped up. Chris was one of those names. We read his profile and decided that we would give him a try. Best decision ever! Chris was patient and guided us through every step. I send him a list of houses that we were interested in and when we went out to see them, he had also pulled other houses to see in the area as well. We spent half a day looking at houses. Chris even told us that one of the houses we were interested in was over priced for the area and has been sold 3 times within 2-3 years. That information really helped us. Chris is funny and keeps you laughing but knows his job very well. I had chosen another area to look in that was cheaper but Chris reminded me of the schools which was very important because we have a son.
