I stopped by Chris' Famous Pizza in Methuen for dinner takeout on the way back to NH. I noticed they had slices of pizza available and also, ricotta cheese and extra fillings are no charge in their calzones, which sounded pretty good. They also offer half toppings on the pizzas, priced accordingly. However, I decided to order small Eggplant Pizza ($7.25 plus tax), which took about 20 minutes to be all set after ordering. I enjoyed the pizza hot out of the oven, which tasted pretty good including the sweet tomato sauce, cheese, and thin battered eggplant pieces. Not the best looking pizza, it looked as though it was just thrown together without precision with an uneven distribution of sauce, cheese, and assorted sizes of eggplant pieces (one slice had more toppings & cheese than another slice) on the puffed crust with a firm bottom and crisp edges. Overall, the pizza was decent. Next time I stop in here, I'll have try one of their calzones with ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and sausage, sauce on the side. read more

So disappointed and disgusted with what I saw today. Not a single employee wearing gloves or a mask. Not the girl at the front, not the two cooks in the back. Not even gloves?! When you're dealing with food during a global pandemic. I'm sorry if the Taco Bell down the street can abide by these standards then this place should too. The pizza is a grease trap. When you take a slice off the box it leaves a puddle on the paper. Grease is constantly dripping off and it's the first thing you taste. Well first of all the owner or the person who runs this place is so rude and second I asked him a question on a picture on the menu which pizza it was and he answered me very rudely and said just a regular pizza with oregano! Well I don't think so I believe it was basil but what ever. So I ordered from a pizza and add mozzarella cheese basil grilled chicken and cherry tomatoes. Well you will see the picture that I got!! But I applaud his offer and apology, and his actions could result in winning me back as a customer.}} This review is mainly based on service, and I must say I'm shocked to be writing it. I've been a fan of this place for quite some time, and I typically order pizza or subs from here every couple of weeks or so -- sometimes even more frequently. However, that is likely to change, based on some poor service I received last night, and a gradual drop in the consistency of quality over the last few months. My main gripe is that a delivery order -- on a Tuesday night with no game on -- took an hour and 10 minutes to arrive, though I was told to expect "35 minutes." Had the weather been dismal, I would have understood (though the expectation should have been set at the point of sale), but roads were fine. Worse than the delay, however, was the attitude I received from the woman answering the phone. At the 45-minute mark, I inquired about the pizza, and was told "He'll be there any minute." Finally, an hour and five minutes after the order, I called and was told "He has four deliveries with him, that's all I know" and not the slightest hint of apology, never mind any offer to adjust the price, or even knock off the $1 delivery charge. Finally, five minutes later it came and the driver similarly offered no apology. I apologized, paid for the pizza but nothing extra for the tip -- and I NEVER stiff a server -- explaining that the extreme lateness was unacceptable. I still feel a bit bad about not tipping him because he eventually apologized, but his employer should make it up to him. I'm betting they won't, though, based on this recent level of lousy service. The pizza, while pretty tasty, was of course lukewarm. Had we not been stuck for dinner at that hour, I would have refused delivery altogether. I will say I have been going here since they opened many years ago. It has been a go to spot for myself, and my boys in more recent years. Lately it's been so inconsistent, every order we place is wrong. I call and they say they will credit, they do not. If they do I get an attitude. I just want my order to be tight. We order 2 large cheese we get 1 large cheese and a mystery pizza with tomatoes and chicken, my boys won't eat. I feel for the owner. But literally ever order we get is wrong. Sometimes nothing in the order is correct. We order wings they give us tenders. We call they say we read it back. Ok we didnt get 2 cheese pizzas either u read that back. Just sadly would no longer recommend. Will not go myself. Order a greek salad extra olives comes with no olives. Extra Syrian bread u get a wheat wrap. They just dont care. It's sad. Was a great place. Oh I forgot to say. The pizza is delicious regardless if they get it wrong. Ask 4 extra cheese sprinkled in the crust. Then eat to crust. Save the crust. Dip it in sugar. Till this day I still go to Chris' & my go to always is the chicken tender basket & you CAN NOT forget to ask for the duck sauce, that stuff is heaven! read more

Delicious pizza. Even after waiting 15 minutes to get it home it was hot and tasty. We had mushrooms, onions, peppers and sausage. Freshness and good taste in every bite. Parking can be a bit if a pain but the pizza is worth it. I can't comment on anything else cuz all we had was pizza. read more
