If your looking for Indian style street food this literally have everything you could think of. It has an open concept where you order at the counter & they bring you the food. They also have an option where you can stand at the counter and they will make you pani puri's. Service was fairly quick and the bhel puri was delicious with a nice spicy kick. The only thing that threw me off was the potato stuff for the pani puri it was more of a dal than potato which I'm not used to but other than that everything was delicious! read more

There's something to be said for an Indian restaurant where our party has the only non South Asians in the building. The food, the service and the premises were all top tier. We commandeered a three tablet section and the staff was more than gracious. The outdoor sitting area was a nice touch and the TVs were accessible but not intrusive. Super authentic food. read more

When you hear from a couple of foodies that this place is a must you of course have to go! Not your regular sit down place. You walk in and the menu is bright and looks to be 7 feet in width. So many options! We got the Chowrasta special goat and the Palak goat curry, both medium along with garlic and bullet naan. They accidentally brought us regular and garlic naan, but when I brought it to their attention they were quick to trade our the regular for the bullet naan. My only complain is that the medium in the two dishes were vastly different. The Palak had no spice while the Chowratsa had all the spice. Both were delicious but the spice level I thought was too much of a difference. The portions are smaller than what you'd get at a sit down restaurant because they are served in to go containers. It makes it easy when you're done eating. The place was busy. I swear as soon as one table was cleared it wouldn't be more than 3 minutes before more people sat down. Service when we were originally one of two customers/tables was ridiculous. We waited 20 mins for my finances sandwich and another 10 for mine. No sides or anything else ordered. Just two sandwiches. I don't know if I was forgotten but even people who entered and ordered after me got their food before mine. The restaurant is brightly colored and clean. The gentleman taking my order was kind. Was actually heading to a late lunch elsewhere when we noticed the "Indian food" sign and decided to stop in. This is in the location that was previously donuts and dragons. The inside is bright and spacious. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to your table. It was fairly busy when we were there, at least a couple dozen people, couples and families, lots of kids, too. (This was about 2:40 pm on a Saturday.) All the food I could see on the tables looked so good. So the one downside that prevents me from giving 5 stars is that the menu is the names of dishes, but no descriptions or photos. So while I've had Indian food before, I had to ask a ton of questions since I didnt know what the food was. I'm sure I still don't understand all the offerings they have. So we kind of ordered what was sounded familiar: hubs got the chicken tikka masala and I got the palak (spinach) chicken curry, and a garlic naan. Food took a little while and hubs' came first, mine was about 5 min later, which was a little awkward. Food is served in plastic containers (think Chinese soup), and you get plates from the side. So that also was a little meh, but then again, it was a lot of food, so I already had my to go containers! Flavor-wise, both were served hot, smelled great, had huge chunks of chicken in them, amd were delicious. We both ordered medium spice. My spinach was less spicy, so i might kick it up a bit next time. Again, the flavors in each were so good. In mine I had some little spice pods that had such aroma and flavor, almost a sweetness. My new favorite place for Indian street food. Gobi 65 was perfect with the crisp and the flavor. One of the best I've had. Mysore masala dosa was spicy, as expected. Good texture and lots of potato filling inside. Vada pav was spicy and flavor was spot on. Didn't feel too heavy. Sambar idli was good too. I like that they pack the idli separate from the sambar for takeout. The sambar was not too watery and had a good amount of lentils and veggies in it. Employees friendly and food came out quick. The dining area is big with a lot of tables and chairs for groups of all sizes. read more

We tried Samosa - fried veggie pastry Indian spice chicken appetizers Bhelpuri - savory snack with puffed rice Chicken Mandi - Arabic flavored rice All the dishes were very spicy (please SPECIFY for less spice - they do accommodate) Our bill came up to $95. Note : I kicked off a star for Facebook showing an offer of buy 1 Mandi and get 1 Mandi free on Tuesday but the store said it was a mistake and did not honor our request. We started with the pani puri which tasted amazing, but I wish there was more puri pieces because there was a lot of stuffing left over. I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with Chowrastha that I feel others should be aware of. I placed an online order totaling $162. The restaurant accepted the order, charged my card, and dispatched it through their delivery system (Toast/Uber Eats). The driver picked up the food--and then canceled the order. As a result, I received no food, yet I was still fully charged. When I first called the restaurant, I was told I would receive a refund. After waiting two weeks with no update or refund, I called again. This time, the manager said they would follow up, but instead I received a call from a supervisor who refused to take responsibility, stating that it wasn't their fault since they had handed the order to the driver. I also contacted Uber Eats and Toast, and both redirected me back to the restaurant. In the end, no one took ownership of the issue, and I was left paying $162 for absolutely nothing. This entire situation is unacceptable. The lack of accountability and poor customer service is shocking. As a customer, I was left to deal with the consequences while every party involved avoided responsibility. Chowrastha used to be one of my go-to places, but after this experience--and the complete disregard for customer care--I will never order from them again. read more

Came here for the first time and was really impressed! The restaurant itself was very spacious and plenty of room for our large party. The menu was huge with an almost overwhelming variety of Indian dishes. Some of the dishes are available in the buffet and some of the foods were needed to order. With such a variety of foods, the staff there was extremely helpful to narrow down what we should eat. I'd recommend the chicken tandoori! read more

Another Indian food place in Indy ! Lots of options on the menu from Chaat to Entrees and desserts ! The Mysore Masala Dosa was our favorite . They have decent vada pav and pani puri as well . The best CHA at a restaurant I've ever had! Their Pani puri filling is similar to Bangladeshi fuchka which I love! The Pani could be better. The first street style Pani puri which is great. I love their goat karahi too! Better than others I've tried around Indy. They have pre made snack like samosas and pakoras which are good too. I don't know why their reviews are so bad. One of the Indian restaurants in Indy I've ever been to. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend people to this restaurant.

My friends had ordered a vegetarian appetizer as takeout for dinner party but were instead given non-vegetarian appetizer and I being a vegetarian unknowingly ate it only to realize it was non-vegetarian appetizer which was deeply distressing. This level of carelessness is unacceptable, it's essential for a restaurant to take dietary restrictions seriously, especially when consequences can be significant and emotionally disturbing It's alarming that a restaurant can make such a fundamental mistake, showing a blatant disregard for customers request. I urge the management to seriously reconsider their kitchen practices and staff training to prevent such an egregious error from happening again. read more

I just had my first experience at Chowrastha, and I'm absolutely thrilled about it! I ordered the chicken lunch combo, and let me tell you, the flavor was out of this world! The portion size was just perfect for the price, too. I got to enjoy two types of chicken--crispy fried chicken and rich butter chicken--along with a delicious vegetable, naan, rice, a drink, and of course, gulab jamun for dessert. The staff were super friendly and the service was quick. It might be a tad spicy for some, but I loved every bite! We visited the restaurant at 4pm, so was empty. Beware !! all with food allergies. They do not understand what a nut allergy is. We had to wait 30 minutes before we got our fDahi Puri with nuts on top ( garnish ), then we returned it and they used the same things once again which we returned and then asked them to cancel our order which was a whole another story. Also ordered a dosa which came after 25 minutes. One of the guys came to the table as said that the manager will call us for a refund the 9.80 $ without taking my details down. Hi We were a party of three and ordered three different meals at noon. First, dish arrived within 10 minutes which was nice. however, the second dish did not come with the first dish. The second dish came 15 minutes later. The third came 10 minutes after that. This meant that we were not able to eat at the same time. Although each of the dishes were very good. All dishes should come out at the same time. We wil be back but we will request management to bring dishes out mor quickly. read more

Chowrastha chicken fry, chow min and specially the irani chai will make you come back. Clean and friendly service. Only downside i found is they recently started serving in take-out bowl only in the restaurant which makes it a little inconvenient to serve out from that. read more

The food was very good. My girlfriend loved it. We had the Chicken fry and chicken Biryani. It was delicious.

The food was amazing. The atmosphere had a lot to be desired. It is extremely loud, and children were "out of control". My friend's meal was questionable about if it was truly vegan as she thought there was cheese but was told it was made out of soy milk. You cannot have a nice quiet meal at all. Parents need to control their children and not have them running around and disturbing tables. Doubtful I will return. read more
