This is a new Indian restaurant near where I live. There have been other Indian restaurants at this location and next door to it, but this isn't them. If you are reading reviews, ignore older ones as they may apply to an earlier restaurant. I ordered take-out using an online app. Ordering was easy and the food was ready when I arrived. We started with the appetizer platter. Some were better than others, but the point of getting the platter was to see what we liked best. We shared a lamb with chickpea dinner and liked it very much. It came with rice and bread and 3 small portions of toppings. I also ordered the raita and a second kind of bread. One bread would have sufficed. We had a little of everything left over for lunch another day. We'll order from here again. read more

My fiance and I had planned a date night to somewhere else, but that fell through as the restaurant was having a special event. We had to quickly find something to replace that for our date night meal. We landed on Moon India, and were pleasantly surprised. We both love Indian food, but for some reason it's never a go to of ours (our minds might have changed with this meal!) We were immediately greeted upon arrival, and sat in a cozy booth. The restaurant was quiet, with only a couple other patrons while we were there (though multiple people came in to pick up carry out). The decor was nice as well. My fiancé and I both ordered the Thali- I ordered the vegetarian while they ordered the regular one. If you're going to an Indian restaurant for the first time, I highly recommend a Thali- you get a sampling of something many different options! Mine came with an appetizer of aloo tiki and pakora- pakora is usually one of my favorite things at an Indian restaurant. This was excellent, but I've discovered a new favorite. The aloo tiki was incredible- it was crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside. The flavor was amazing, and I was so surprised by gaining a new go to. We were brought our Thali- mine came with aloo choley, matter paneer, dal, ran, raita, rice, Naan, and dessert. I absolutely love potatoes with Indian spices, so the aloo choley was immediately a 10/10 for me. I've never had matter paneer, but was pleasantly surprised by the texture and flavor. The dal was a perfect texture and seasoned nicely. I've never had raita- i enjoyed it! It was a nice, creamy, and cool step away from all the spices. Our Naan was perfectly textured and a little charred on the edges (exactly the way you want it to be). The last item on our Thali was our dessert- Gulab Jamun. I never know what to expect when getting this, but I always enjoy it. The texture of the syrup soaked dessert was excellent. The flavor was mild, and not overly sweet. Despite this meal being a small selection of multiple things, the portions were huge! We left full, and with enough food for dinner the next day. I don't recall the name of our waiter, but he seemed to also be the host, busier, and who knows what else. Despite being so busy, he was incredibly attentive the entire dinner! If you're looking to try a new restaurant, Moon India should definitely be on your list to visit! read more

While their lunch buffet may not be as big as some Indian spots, the quality here is great. And who doesn't appreciate good quality food? Great tastes and even some drinks included in the buffet price which is quite reasonable at around $15. The restaurant has been nicely redone and the service is ok. You guys, I want everyone to know about this sweet little Indian eatery that just opened up six months ago. I've been eyeing the reviews and finally visited last week for their lunch buffet and it did not disappoint. I appreciate that they offer a lunch buffet six days of the week and can't wait to take our kiddos. The buffet was all very fresh, delicious (great variety), clean and neatly organized. The thing that stood out the most about the entire experience was how incredibly friendly all of the staff was. They were attentive and warm from start to finish. I love the windows that wrapped around two walls of the space (great natural light) and the overall atmosphere. There wasn't a dish I tried from the buffet that I didn't enjoy. I also appreciate it that they had complimentary chai to go with the buffet and then it wasn't sweetened so you could sweeten it to your liking. Since moving here 2 years ago, my wife and I have been trying various Indian restaurants, mostly on the northside. Moon inhabits the place that was formerly Amara, which was part of Aroma restaurant group.Surprisingly, Aroma lists their Fountain Square location still on the website. A space that is most obviously now a reborn La Margarita in Fountain Square/Fletcher Place district. Anyways, back to Moon. The initial compendium of reviews on Google were positive, so I decided to get carry out. I usually get the Malai Kofta. It's a Punjabi dish of fried potato/paneer balls and often filled with cashews, raisins, and other items. Simmered in a delectable tomato-based gravy. Something my Gujarati mom would not normally made. Certain dishes that you mostly get at restaurants because they are not typically made at home. My wife, a vegan, got the Vegetable Jalfrezi, Both dishes were great. The color, smell, and presentation. 9.3/10. My wife commented that Vegetable Jalfrezi was the best so far of the Jalfrezis she's tried in Indy. I would have to say this has been the best Malai Kofta experience so far. The owners are not affilitated with G1/Haveli/Shalimar (all owned by one group/family). Recently moved from Cincy. I encourage others on the North Side to check this place out. We came for the daily lunch buffet. It's a pretty good deal at $15 per person (11 AM-3 PM). They have a nice selection of curries (goat and chicken), tikka masaka, saag paneer, tandoori chicken, etc. There is Naan on the buffet, but they will bring a fresh basket of naan direct to table too. The dining room was renovated and is now clean and modern (unlike it's previous incarnation under a different name and ownership. I was in the mood for Indian for dinner, so decided to try Moon India restaurant through Uber Eats. I ordered the Chicken Tikki Masala and a side of Garlic Naan Bread for dinner. Both were very good and tasted amazing. The texture of the Garlic Naan bread was just perfect and very flavorful of garlic. It was a good accompany to the Chicken Tikki Masala. The Chicken Tikki Masala was immaculate and had plenty of flavors and spices in the sauce in the chicken and rice. It was comfort food for me and I loved every minute of it. I have driven past Moon India restaurant and looked inside, and it is a nice ambiance from I could see through the window. I cannot speak to the service since I ordered through Uber Eats, but I have heard from friends that the service is decent and very friendly. I would like to come back to Moon India and dine in person to get the full dining experience to see how it is, because then I can get a better understanding of the restaurant and its ambiance. This is the first time we tried this Indian restaurant located on 86th Street. A while ago we were in the same place, same building but it was a different Indian restaurant with different management and different name but Moon India is new. They are located on this strip mall that is off of West 86th Street in Indianapolis. They have a huge parking space and they have other stores next to it. They also have outside dining and inside dining. They are business casual and family friendly. They have a little bar space in the corner of the restaurant inside. Their service is exceptional, The answer all the questions and they have six six different mild medium hot ratings. They have a good amount of vegetarian options, limited vegan options, and a large amount of non-vegetarian options available in their menu. Out of all the dishes we tried, their Matar Paneer was one of the most delicious dishes that we tasted. They also have everyday lunch buffet from Monday through Saturday. I am unsure about Sunday. Folks, believe the reviews. I can't believe I finally found an Indian restaurant with excellent, creamy chicken tikka masala--with tender, high-quality chicken. Why was this such a chore in a city as big as Indianapolis? All the Lafayette Square Indian restaurants have been downhill on quality for the past ten years and I have TRIED THEM ALL. The family that owns Moon is from Cincinnati, and I hope they are doing well in this location. I loved the Indian restaurant that was in the space next door - owned by the Aroma owners. But the service was super lackluster. I loved their food though - omg the eggplant! - so put up with it and started to get takeout. The price of admission. Then I would get poori bread at the Pakistani (?) restaurant where Moon now resides. Because the Indian restaurant didn't have poori. LOL. So now I will have to try some other dishes at Moon but now I am so besotted with their CTM and the fact that they have poori it may be awhile till I get to anything else. Food on the buffet was amazing quality 4 vegetarian and 4 meat dishes plus all the usual accompaniments. Their saag paneer is really the best I've ever had and the veggie korma was outstanding too. This is one of my favorite non vegan splurges but they also have an aloo dish and excellent rice and naan. Their chai is included too.
