One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever visited! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Every dish was fresh, authentic, and incredibly tasty. The owner, Vivek, was an amazing host--friendly, welcoming, and genuinely caring. Ambience was great. He made sure we had a great experience from start to finish and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The food was so good that I couldn't resist ordering more to take home! On top of being a great value for the amount of food the dishes were very flavorful and the staff were very kind. Food: I could've gone spicier but the mild dishes still packed the flavor you'd expect of Indian cuisine. The Gohbi Manchurian was a great appetizer that you couldn't stop eating even when it started to fill you up. The non-vegetarian Thali was also a great way to taste a variety of dishes. My only wish would be to have different curry bases for the lamb, chicken and daal. Customer service was great, food was okay. Ordered a glass of wine, heavy pour and delicious. Garlic naan, thin and hard to chew. Palak paneer - didn't care for texture as it had baby food texture. Mixed grill - chicken was over cooked and hard, all the other meats were good. Ordered lamb coconut curry and the lamb was very gamy. That comes from not cleaning the meat properly. She has never had Indian, so we picked G1 Indian at 49th & College in Broad Ripple - which was a new place for both of us. The waiter was wonderful in explaining the different foods to her. We had the fried cauliflower for an appetizer. She had the Thali -- a traditional Indian meal served with tandoori chicken, lamb curry, dal, rice, raita, naan, and kheer (dessert). Appeared a bit sketchy on the outside, but once inside it appeared more appealing with the Indian spices aroma. Service was excellent, very attentive, and the overall atmosphere was calming. Another new restaurant in this space. I hope they do well. The menu is sort of typical for an Indian spot. I do have to say everything we ordered was very good. The service was very friendly and trying very hard to take of our group. The prices are quite reasonable also. Looks like they are doing quite a bit of carry out also, so that is always a good sign. 5 stars dosent seem like enough, every time I dine here, it does not disappoint the food is always top tier as is the service. Very attentive, and always ready to explain the menu if needed. There are just as much veggie options as there are meat options which is amazing!. It's hard to find authentic places in Indy but this is definitely one of them! A lot of their vegetarian entrees can also be made vegan! I tried that option for both the dry dahl and eggplant curry and I wasn't missing the flavors at all. I would get the dahl again. It was a cold night and I wanted to go somewhere warm, cozy and close to the house. Found it right here at G1! We received a very warm welcome when we came in and she let us pick a nice table near the back away from the door. The atmosphere inside is warm and comforting. Our server was always looking out for us and kept our water glasses full. My meal was a lamb dish from the chefs special and it was really good. Glad to see a new Indian restaurant has come to the neighborhood! Our food was great (tons of vegetarian options)! Also, love the dark/cozy vibes of the restaurant. Great for an intimate dinner. We did take out and ordered the okra, eggplant curry, potato and peas. We also had the aloo paratha and garlic naan. Everything is delicious! To note: The okra was different than any I've had at Indiana restaurabts but so good-lightly sauced and great flavor. The eggplant was delicious - it seemed pureed like an Indiana babaganoush with Indiana spices. My only comment is the rice was a little dry but it still deserved 5 stars for everything else. I have been to this restaurant multiple times and have never been disappointed. They have a very cool atmosphere with interesting seating and chairs (that are also super comfortable)! I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala mild and it was so delicious. I loved how the spices mixed with the chicken making it a slightly sweet heat. The rice they use also adds a terrific bite to the meal and as they say in Bob's Burgers "excellent mouth feel." They also serve such big portions that I always get to take some home for later! The waiter was also ABSOLUTELY incredible. I went with my father and we were basically chugging water and he made sure our glasses were never empty. When you order the hottest spice level and they look concerned... You know it's going to be good. G1 took over from already pretty good Indian spot and they fill the void perfectly. The food is amazing and the spice levels are respected. My food was spicy, but I don't think it really that hot. Everyone working was kind and chill. The owner talks to you and answers any questions you have. It wasn't very busy when I went so I hope they are doing well. It's a tucked away spot on College Ave, but it's worth the trip. The parking "lot" is terrible, so park on the street or across the street. The restaurant is dark and romantic with chill music playing. It's a great date night spot. read more

I can't personally speak about what it's like inside the resultant because we always order their food delivered via DoorDash to our apartment, but I can speak about the food and the food is delicious.
