Even though I don't live in Indianapolis anymore, I try to find time for an annual pilgrimage to India sizzling's lunch buffet on one of my visits to the city. They have one of the among the most satisfying and broad Indian buffet offerings outside of Chicago in the Midwest. Plan to be at the buffet with an empty stomach that's growling because there's just too much to choose from! There's a dosa station to custom make dosas the way you want - a masala dosa for me. Their naan is perfectly smokey and served at the table as soon as you start. The curries all have unique flavors , meaning they haven't been made from a single curry base. The goat rogan josh is perfectly cooked with the mutton turning out very tender and oozing with flavor. The gobi Manchurian batter tastes very different from the chicken 65 - which is what one would expect from an authentic Indian restaurant that cares about the food it produces. The chicken 65 is bone in and must try if it's there. Note that you probably won't find butter chicken at the buffet. The biryani whether it's vegetarian, chicken or mutton is amazing. On the vegetarian side, there are regional dishes such as rasam, sambar or potato variyal. There's puri Bhaji and chaat. The service is very attentive. The restaurant is busy with tables and buffet lines filled with families and people of all kinds. You'll leave in a food coma and with a feeling that few other Indian restaurants are going to match the experience you've just had here. read more

we used to go here on sunday for the buffet. Last time, noticed they have a rolling propane or butane burner cart for preparing dosa. Problem, my wife was really bothered by the gas like spell in the air. Anyone else have same experience? Love the food, but can't tolerate the gas like air. So rating based only on this situation. I went on suday, The food was quite good in taste, i tried their goat chicken & briyani. They had really nice fried chicken and sweets are o top as well. The tea was good as well. We ordered carry out through Yelp and it said one time it would be ready, then it changed the time it was ready. It went from Yelp to grub hub, so maybe a glitch with their system. We had a decent takeout meal here. The chicken tikka masala was very good, as was the lamb shahi korma -- though, the latter was a bit light on meat. The veggie samosas were rock solid, too. That said, the palak paneer fell flat, being relatively tasteless. Unfortunate, because that's usually my favorite dish. So, as you can see, India Sizzling is a mixed bag. My first and probably last time ordering here. The Biryani was OK. I ordered tandoori chicken. Abd tandoori chicken Tikka Masala. The tandoori chicken was very cold. I felt like it was sitting fir awhile. I ordered at 6:30 was told to arrive at 7:10 (40 mins) I arrived on time. N I live just 12 minutes away. We came here for our friends birthday and I'm so glad we did! This was the first time dining in but I have had take-out from here a couple times. The food has always been incredible and we wanted to dine-in for a different experience. I cannot express how incredible our experience was. The staff was SO extremely nice. Ravi was our server but he was more than that. He was very personable and talked to us about life and how cook the food and just conversed with us like he was our friend. Not only was he great, everyone was so friendly and nice. For the table, we tried something new to all of us - vegetable samosas. Not sure what was in them but they came fried with two dipping sauces (a mint one and a date one). They were pretty good and little spicy. Then for our entrees we ordered garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and biryani. You can NEVER go wrong with chicken tikka masala or garlic naan. They serve huge portions so I am always excited for leftovers. The friendly service and conversation was a huge addition to the incredible food we were served. Also, once Ravi found out it was our friends birthday, he offered us some Indian dessert on the house that was similar to a fried donut but it was soaked in some kind of honey lavender sauce. It was good and different. In addition to all of the above, I LOVED the metal wire artwork on the walls. They were so cool and intricate. If you look on their website it explains that a local artist named Steve Wright designed buildings and places in Bombay, India out of metal wire. Super impressive! Overall, this is a great place for Indian food. Their vegetarian options are plentiful too. 4 stars - Vegetable samosas. Two come in an order. The outside is crispy and not oily. The filling is flavorful. 5 stars - Bindi masala. This was a favorite and I would order this again. The okra was the perfect texture. Soft and not too crispy. The spices and flavor was spot on. 4 stars - Bagara Baigan. The eggplant texture was good. Tasted like it was added after the curry was cooked. It didn't have enough flavor like I'm used to in this dish. 5 stars - Masala dosa. The lentil soup that came with this was soooo tasty. I would order this again. The potatoes inside were creamy and flavored well too. 4 stars - Chili naan and garlic naan. The chili naan is a level four spicy. Whoa pretty hot. I am unhappy with both DoorDash and the merchant. I submitted a $35 order for pickup through Caviar, and received emails that they received the order. At 6:16p I received an email that the order was ready. At the restaurant, the OPEN light was on but the doors were locked. Others who were there to deliver orders began showing up, we knocked on windows and we left. At 8:03p, DoorDash called and left a message that the order was ready for pickup. DoorDash claims that they sent me an email at 8:15p that the order was picked up, but they did not send that email and I did not pick it up. We had eaten a lovely carryout from Sam's Gyro's as a Plan B. DoorDash refuses to refund my money. And I have never loved India Sizzling's service anyway, and this seals the deal. BOO!! read more

It's all in the name, India+Sizzling+Exotic. We've tried a few other takeout Indian places in the Fishers area, but this place really stands out. As for our meal: portions are huge. My wife is raving about their Chicken Tikka Masala. A good starter dish for newbies. Think buttery orange chicken and rice. For me, I ventured to the exotic South Indian house special, Chicken Chettinad. A medium spiced, 12-spice bonanza of flavors dancing around your mouth. They don't offer delivery so stop in or call for takeout. Fun note: they offer a few beers from Indian and a variety of bar drinks. The menu is very expansive. I love this place. It's so hard to find Southern Indian food & I have no idea why-it is PERFECTION. And you've never disappointed. Chicken korma, chicken 65, naan, all the "usual" items are delicious. We've ordered from here before but we ordered the same items again because they're so good! We need to try the roti & kulcha, chili chicken (my favorite from Bangalore) and the masala dosa! My visits to Mysore always included the dosas, it's got to be amazing.
