Twice baked almond croissant, kouign amann, cinnamon roll

Stopped by on a Tuesday morning for some pastries on the way to a nearby appointment. There was ample street parking on the quiet street. There were a couple of people ahead of me in line but service was quick. Lots of savory and sweet pastries to choose from - the massive cinnamon roll caught my eye, and I couldn't resist not getting it, also got the twice baked almond croissant and a kouign amann. I ate the kouign amann soon as I got into my car - it was the perfect amount of sweetness and flakiness, albeit a bit small in size despite being around the same price point as the croissant and cinnamon roll. Unfortunately was not a big fan of the cinnamon roll. Though the roll itself was pillowy soft upon reheating it in the microwave a bit, it lacked the amount of cinnamon that you would expect, and the frosting on top tasted like cake frosting with it almond extract in it and was far too sweet. I had to scrape most of it off. Almond croissant was also just okay - filling was on the sweeter side and croissant itself just didn't taste very fresh.

I'm so glad I came across this bakery! Was working in the area and decided to take a break to get some treats. Almost everything I've had here has been amazing. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their pastries and baked goods! They run out of some stuff early on and pastries seem to rotate (not sure of the frequency). Staff is super nice, friendly and will answer any questions you have! There's not really seats to sit inside and it's a pretty small space. I've been here twice already and will definitely be back!

We visited Choux Choux Bakery to pick up some tasty treats to eat while hiking in the North Cascades. This small bakery is located on the bottom of a mixed use complex. It's quite small, with only two tables inside for seating. There are some tables outside the building, but I can't see them getting much use in the winter. I guess most people just order to go? Anyways, the pastry cases are full of delicious looking goodies. We ended up trying four: Pain au Lait ($5.75) - This is an enriched bread that's fluffy yet denser in texture. It tastes yeasty and slightly sweet, very similar to a dinner roll but more dense. There's some funky tasting cheese baked into and on top of the very top layer of the bread. In addition, a very tasty kielbasa-like link that tastes neatly spiced with garlic in a snappy sausage casing. It's like a European version of a Chinese hot dog bun! (4/5) Morning Bun ($5.60) - One side of this morning bun is glazed with a super sticky caramel, like what would be seen on a sticky bun. It drips down but doesn't quite cover the other side, leaving a croissant-like crisp texture instead of being sugar enhanced. It's both sweeter and more well layered than the kouign amann and due to the construction, with the sticky bun kind of folded and twisted (rather than straight horizontal layers in the kouign amann), the caramel descends into the crevices in the pastry, giving the entire thing more of a uniform sweetness and flavor. I enjoyed eating this the most of all four pastries we tried. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.75) - This pastry has really thick laminated layers (which is fine for kouign amann), but then has a strange leavened bready center that tastes like enriched yeasty bread. Not the most pleasant when I'm expecting a more buttery and sweet pastry. The inside doesn't seem to be sweetened at all and instead all the sugar is glazed on the exterior. The bottom is a bit salty which helps enhance some of the sweet flavors while the top has a very sugar enhanced crunch that's nice. (3/5) Ham & Cheese Croissant ($6.25) - This is a really interesting version of a ham & cheese croissant, some parts positive, other parts not so great. Instead of thinly sliced, more dry deli ham, they cut up thick ham chunks to bake inside, followed by melting a good amount of cheese. The cheese is very mild and seems to be American rather than cheddar given the taste. The ham unfortunately has a lot of moisture built up inside, which leaks out and into the croissant dough, making the interior more spongy and soggy. The exterior is very flaky and buttery though! I'll go on and say that the laminated layers are all very thick and there aren't nearly as many as a high quality French bakery. I don't mind it that much since the croissant itself is only one part of the entire pastry and overall this pastry is good. (4/5) Choux Choux Bakery is kind of a mixed bag for my tastes, but definitely trending towards having good pastries. I'll have to revisit for one of their normal butter croissants to really judge the lamination technique and maybe pick up a loaf of bread. Bathrooms - None inside the store itself. Instead, the bathrooms require a key borrowed from the employees that goes to a door outside along the sidewalk, past the yoga place. They are pretty spacious larger bathrooms with multiple stalls that I think are shared among all the businesses in the building.

This place is incredible! Easily some of the best pastries I've ever had. The service was fantastic--everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Seating is a bit limited, so we took our treats to go, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back. Everything we tried was delicious, but the coconut cruffin was the standout and my absolute favorite. Highly recommend!

Man, just can't say enough good things about this place. It's become our new favorite, even over Seattle bakeries. I've never seen a bakery with such variety for starters. Usually the more you do the more mediocre everything is, in my experience, but that couldn't be further than the truth for Choux Choux! Everything we had has been an easy 10/10. As someone who appreciates savory pastries, I easily get my fix here. Even the sweet items are just the right amount of sweetness to taste indulgent but not overkill. We recently tried the Hippie Wheat Bread as I was making split pea soup for dinner and wanted something to pair with it. The bread PHENOMENAL. It was so good we looked at the time to see if we could make it to Choux Choux before they closed to grab another for turkey sandwiches. I am just so impressed with everything we have had.

I can't say enough good things about this bakery! Incredibly affordable coffee, which is hard to come by. $3.36 for a triple shot latte is unheard of. The baked goods are delicious! The raspberry oat bar was moist and fresh. Along with the pistachio bun. Really light, fluffy mousse inside and the bun was also fresh and a pleasant texture. Not to mention the amazing customer service. The ladies behind the counter were SO sweet and helpful, with great recommendations. Limited seating inside but they have a nice patio with lots of seating outside. I highly recommend this place.

This was a cute bakery that still had a lot of items an hour before closing. We opted for the pain de raisin and puff pastry (pear with cream cheese.) Our favorite was the puff pastry which had the perfect amount of flakiness. Both desserts were not too sweet!

This bakery is wonderful. I don't love the location tbh, as it's on the first floor of an apartment community and kinda out of the way form where I work in Everett. But that's fine! The pastries are so delicious. It's very cute inside as well and kinda shabby, but in a nice way. There are a ton of records and it gives a vintage vibe. The area to order is quite narrow so if it's busy it gets cramped. I did not like my chai and would not recommend. It was watery and lacked strong flavor. However, all of the food items we've ordered have been great. Cakes, pastries and bread. I'll return and try the coffee to see what I think.

I had bookmarked Choux Choux Bakery for quite sometime. I finally took a spontaneous drive up north to Everett to check it out (8/29/23). It is located close to the downtown core, at street level of an apartment or condo building. I was able to snag one of the 90 minute adjacent street parking slots, which was convenient. Upon entering, I liked the high ceilings and windows that allowed for plentiful natural light. Immediately to the right were a trio of two tops, near featured wall art, some healthy plants, pair of turntables, and a vast collection of vinyl albums. I chose to remain indoors as it began to drizzle outside. There are several outdoor cafe tables and chairs arranged in the courtyard. Limited indoor seating, but there is also a stand up counter. I observed that they do brisk take out. The pastry case had a variety of both sweet and savory baked items. Decent viennoiserie, patisserie, and boulangerie available for one stop shopping. Beverages are available, including coffee beverages from Victrola beans, however no drip - noted from one affixed sign. I appreciated the barista/counter person who was both friendly and knowledgeable about products I asked about, plus kindly warmed up the mushroom croissant. I mistook this for a pain au chocolat...oh well, it's time to go savory. I also ordered an 8 oz mocha. I was surprised that both items were packaged up - guess there's no mugs and saucers for onsite dining. My benchmark is always a pain au chocolat, when available. I was offered a large Nutella pastry instead, but I declined. I was glad that the mushroom croissant ($5.50) was double bagged, because surprisingly it was a bit greasy. There was not much observable lamination of the pastry either. It was flavorful and as my first meal of the day, it was gobbled up. Still wished I had a napkin. There were none available at the sideboard by the entrance. Also, observed that the pastry case could have used a bit of sprucing up, table tops wiped down, and less visible crumbs on the floor...but that's just me. Probably too busy with steady stream of customers all morning to midday. The 8oz mocha ($5) was molten and was double cupped with a lid. Wished there was a recyclable sleeve instead. It was decent, once it cooled down. It was a welcomed beverage, as the temperature today dropped 10-15 degrees compared to the day before. While uploading photos, eating my pastry, and sipping my mocha, I observed a "street person" enter the shop. There was interaction between that individual and the barista/counter person, where water was provided, and person left without further incident. Truly the extra star was simply for that barista/counter person. Uniformly welcoming to all who entered, including myself. No hipster pretentiousness or indifference which was greatly appreciated. Both the pastry and mocha with tax and tip on this initial visit was a little over $12, kind of pricey for my limited budget. There are other indie bakeshops and cafes located in Everett that I prefer more. Props to the Choux Choux Bakery team since they are coming up on their 7th year in business. With the post-pandemic economy, that's great they're able to thrive and sustain a connection with their neighborhood.

I'm with a previous reviewer that wondered about the clutter and tables stacked . Of course the pandemic made life awful for many businesses , so glad this one is still open . However , the quality / flavor, texture on a cake I've had this week and also the cinnamon rolls is not what it used to be . I wonder if they are open to feedback . read more

This bakery makes the best sweets, but not the best coffee. I ordered an iced chai latte, and It just left me disappointed. They made a chai latte and threw in some chai tea bags. Literally had two tea bags floating in the latte. :/ The flavor and taste was over all bad. But on the other hand, their desserts are amazing! Big, crispy, and thin snickerdoodles, yum! And I tried their bread pudding--AMAZING. You must try this one if you like giggles and wiggles. read more

So i wanted to share this with everyone that is going to visit or revisit this establishment!! My review was not a personal attack on the owner, her schooling or whatever feelings she's into right now, but her response is very unprofessional and not business like at all. All I did was make a suggestion for future customers that may have food allergies like Celiac/Gluten Intolerance and she wants to make it personal and kinda blame me for my illness WOW. I never said it was your problem I was just hoping that one day maybe you can incorporate so gluten free items that's all. But now I could care less if you do or don't!! I met a friend tonight at the bakery. What a delightful surprise of a warm place with great smells and delights for my eyes. I was very comfortable overall due to it being a welcoming vibe. They had so much variety. A lot were so huge I couldn't believe it. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable. She patiently went over all the yummy treats behind the glass. It was near dinner so I went savory and got a margarita pizza and croissant with pesto, cheese, and tomato. Both were out of this world yummy. It was too late for coffee but next time for sure. I can't actually believe I left without getting dessert. I was meeting for business so that must of been how. Before I left the owner came out and put on a album and mentioned she wished more people would put some music on due to her lack of time. Funny how I hadn't even noticed the collection until that moment. It was immense and covered the entire back wall. Great spot. read more

Went here for breakfast. I got a ham croissant and selected a strawberry tart and a danish also. I can't say enough about how rich and flavorful these pastries were! I've tried just about every bakery in the Everett and Marysville area over the years and this is BY FAR the best. I will visit again very soon! read more

if you looking to satisfy your sweet or savory tooth Choux Choux is the place. So many great choices it's hard to decide. I got the berry pound cake which was so moist and good. A date bar that took me back to my childhood when my Mom use to make them. A couple of slices of bacon, leek quiche for tomorrow nights dinner. You can't miss with anything you choose. Service was great and friendly. She let us take our time looking and drooling. read more

I have a feeling this is going to be a great new addition to Everett! The owner is super friendly. We came in at the end of the day & not much was left. We went home with 2 mini baguettes & the last of the madeleines. I wish there had been more madeleines they where amazing, as where the baguettes. The pricing was great too! $2 each for the baguettes and $1 each I think the madeleines. We plan to go back in the morning!! read more

Superb coffee and pastries. My wife and I each had lattes with their in-house seasonal syrups - I had peppermint and she had dark chocolate. It's incredible they make their own syrups AND they're delicious. We also had a croissant, which you'd expect to be good from a place like this but was exceptional. Only small nitpick - I understand having the indoor seating closed but the outdoor seating area was a super bare and dingy. (And I didn't dock stars because I'm not sure they have any control of that space.) We're visiting family in Everett and will make this a planned part of any future visits. read more

This is an awesome local bakery/coffee shop. They have both savory and sweet items that are freshly baked daily. I've been here a couple of times now and have not been disappointed. The first time I came here was during the 2019 snopocalypse and to my surprise they were open. I saw there was a line inside and it peaked my interest. I didn't seem the harm in checking it out because I didn't have anything better to do. I'm glad I did because I had no idea of this hidden gem. Having a wall of vinyl and record player in the back gives it a unique and low key vibe. My only complaint is that the customer service could be a little better. There are more positives about this place than there is negatives, so I'll definitely be back. read more

Choux Choux is an adorable little French rustic cafe newly opened in north Everett. I've got to say I'm pretty excited about this since this seems to be a new genre for this area. I love that they are located a little off the beaten path and within walking distance of my workplace! I dropped in the other day and was very pleased with my first visit! Upon entering the cafe you are instantly hit by a cloud of heavenly sweet goodness from all the fresh baking happening in the back. It's that kind of smell you want to bottle up and make a candle out of. I was greeted by friendly staff and served quickly. I just stopped by for an Americano to-go (all I had time for that day) and it was delicious! The interior is small but very inviting and cozy. Tons of natural light pours in through the floor to ceiling window store front. The ambiance is just right for that girl date, nice little lunch with your significant other, or a solo quiet afternoon escape. I am happy to see some savory and non pastry options on the menu as well as the lovely array of French inspired pasties. I am hoping to see some small plate options to match the food theme here. Looking forward to making this place a usual and trying more than just the coffee! read more

I decided to try this bakery out while my car was being worked on. I ordered a iced chai tea and a slice of Margarita Pizza. This was the weakest Chai tea i've ever had, the strongest flavor in the drink was milk. On the other hand the pizza was actually really good. I was a little surprised that they didn't toast it or warm it up before serving but I didn't mind I actually really like cold pizza. read more

Great bread. Very limited select, no bagels or sandwich type breads. Only specific breads each day, which make weekly grocery trips impossible. If you live close enough to shop here throughout the week, I definitely recommend their breads. read more

Oh, my beloved dealer of French macarons (THE BEST), tiramisu (THE BESTEST) and French onion soup. This place was a blessing to me in my most recent pregnancy. I could always find parking and the owner is really friendly. Every day they have 3-5 different flavors of macarons ($1.50 each). They vary each day. I've eaten all of them (not exaggerating). Off the top of my head, I've tried: salted caramel, coffee, marshmallow, green tea, earl grey, raspberry, strawberry balsamic, dark chocolate champagne, coconut lime, coconut, vanilla almond, orange cream, cherry (the only flavor I didn't like), birthday cake (has a raspberry center), chai, rose cardamom, chocolate mint, caramel, blackberry and mocha. She's really perfected her macaron making. Her tiramisu is out of this world good. Tiramisu is my favorite dessert and it can be difficult to find, but when you do find it it's not necessarily that great. This is the best tiramisu I've had. It's nice and moist, cinnamony and creamy. She deserves an award for it and when you thank her she is humble in her acceptance (although I wouldn't be if that were my recipe). The French onion soup had to grow on me, but now it's my favorite. You can order it dine-in or carryout, but it tastes far better dine-in because it's broiled for about five minutes with a piece of gruyere cheese on the top. There's a good amount of onions and a baguette. The broth taste more wine-y than beef-y. I also love the shortbread cookies and frosted cookies. They're just perfect. The daily bread is also amazing (check the pics for the schedule). My whole family loved Hippie Wheat, including my husband- who likes basic stuff. The loaves are half price when they're day-old. Also tasty- canneles, pizza, cheesecake and cake pops. Highly recommended. Right next to the new indoor farmers' market. Strong coffee. read more

What a treat when we decided to make a detour and return to Seattle after moving very slowly along I-5. Choux Choux was that and more. Tried my 1st savory bread pudding - mushroom, kale, eggs, bread and cheese. It was just perfect. We also got some Hazelnut Croissant - nutty with Nutella chocolate. Would drive back up there just to get a coffee break. read more

I love this little spot. It is never overly busy and the vibe is great. They have a record player and records over in the corner for you to put on while you enjoy your coffee and sweet treat. I absolutely LOVE the coffee here. The flavor is amazing. Prices are super reasonable as well. The pastries and breads change on a daily basis. They are always putting new things out when you are there. I have had the coffee cake, Croissant, cinnamon roll and blondie. All super amazing. The blondie is not as chewy as you would expect a blondie to be. It was still very good. This is also one of the few places that I can find Cardamom bread. Seriously the best. So. Good. You can get day old bread for 50% off but I have never seen it. My guess is that you need to get there when they open to snatch it up. Service has always been friendly. I love this cozy local business. read more

That being said, if you want your pick of the bountiful selection they have in the morning - it's a good idea to get there as early as possible, or call a few days ahead to pre-order what you know you'll want, if you have to come late in the day. I always think it's a sign of a successful bakery if there's not a lot left in the case at the end of the day. Having a wide assortment of muffins, cookies, cakes, especially croissants - all from scratch - takes so much time and preparation and truly is a feat. The bakers you see bustling around in the back are likely getting things prepped for the next morning. That really is the best time to go if you want a wide selection. It makes me sad to see reviews complaining that there's not much left at the end of the day - that would either mean selling old pastries the next day, or a lot of waste, and no one wants that. I love the raspberry bars, the coffee is good, and the cheesy pull apart bread is great when they have it! The wide variety is such a treat - there's sure to be an unexpected surprise item every time you visit, which is so fun. The baristas are kind and helpful, and the line is usually long, but that's okay because it just gives you more time to decide what you want to get. read more

A tad pricey...but that is life is now. The macarons are worth every penny. Creative flavors are true to their names. There is no horrid artificial surprise, only the surprise of the wonderful taste of the melt in your mouth bites. The cookies, croissants, and coffees are the perfect afternoon perk ups. The staff has been lovely, including the creator of colorful decorated cookies who explained how one makes the vivid icing. The talented orchestrator's passion radiates in her gems. Choux choux bakery is amazing, between the wafting smells of baked goods (if you're lucky bacon too) and an amazing assortment of sweet and savory goods, this is my go to place! The customer service is amazing and so accommodating. Ask your barista to make you their favorite flavor mix from any of their completely housemate flavors, and local teas and coffee! There's no dine in due to covid but there's a great courtyard with plenty of seating outside for the sunny days. I can come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner any day of the week and know im getting great quality hand-made goods from a great staff and amazing owner. I've heard from lots of residents from the apartments above that they come at least once a day. Perfect distance from puget sounds and a short walk to wonderful views. read more

I couldn't love this place any more. Wars could start over fighting for the last twice-baked almond croissant. All of their sweets are not too sweet and always with a flakey buttery crust. Their savory items are fabulous as well. And if you eat your goodies in-house, there's an extensive vinyl record collection that you can peruse and put on the 'ol turn table. Pastries, coffee, AND Aretha on vinyl? All in a sunny location? Heck yes. read more

I've visited Everett often but could never find a bakery that met my high standards. This time, I thought I'd just take a look as I passed by, but the modern yet classic interior drew me in, and I ended up walking into the bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread and the warm greeting from the owner made me realize I was already selecting various baked goods before I knew it. The place was so clean and well-maintained that I thought it was newly opened, but I was surprised to learn it's been around for about eight years (as of 2024). You can immediately tell how much effort the owner puts into keeping the shop spotless and organized. I also appreciated that the bread here isn't overly sweet, and they offer some unique items I hadn't seen elsewhere. This is definitely a bakery I'd visit often if I lived nearby. I heard their pizza is also delicious, though I didn't get the chance to try it this time. Here's a detailed review of this bakery: - Service: The service here is excellent, with the owner being exceptionally friendly and welcoming. - Price: The prices are reasonable, especially considering the gourmet quality of their pastries, cookies, and pizzas. I went to get my wife her favorite bran muffins the day before Mother's day, and had a less than savory experience. The cashier first said that they did not have any muffins. Then when she went to check which days they normally have them she came back and said actually the muffins were in the oven and would be ready in 10 minutes. So we bought a few things to munch on while we waited. 10 minutes later the owner came and told me that they just got sold out. I looked at her long enough for her to acknowledge that she was lying, knowing that she knew I had been sitting waiting for an entire 10 minutes. Why couldn't she just acknowledge that we had been given the wrong information instead of lying to me? As a respectable adult, and a business owner, that would make the most sense. I then asked her if I could pre-order for a future pick up date. She said no. No explanation given. We have pre-ordered those muffins several times in the past. In fact this is our favorite breakfast item for road trips, and since we order several at a time we have always pre-ordered. Well, that was enough bs for one day. I went home, looked up a bran muffin recipe, added 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and they were identical in flavor to the ones from the bakery. We are officially NEVER going back to this business. Oh man, this place is off the charts. Inexpensive for what you get-- and every day there are amazing things to choose from. It seems like every time I pop in there is something new to try. Highly recommend the coffee with house-made caramel sauce. Nothing I've had has been short of amazing (and I've tried a lot). Best French macaroon I've ever had. Throw the other macaroons in the dumpster jk but really-- I had one fresh and realized my indifference beyond how pretty they look was changed to, "now I know why these are famous treats". Major kudos to the whole staff who are always kind and friendly even if you're making them make you multiple coffee drinks with a big line behind. I know that the picture of that strawberry treat doesn't look magazine-ready but the whole reason I only have this photo is because once I ate a bit of it and couldn't be bothered to take a better one because it was too delicious (Please make more of these Choux Choux) If you're in Everett hit this place up! read more

Great cozy local bakery coffee spot. Could use a little more selection on drinks but the atmosphere is good and the food is the real attraction. i had the chocolate cresant which was very tasty! The ice coffee with vanilla was pretty tasty just wished they came inn a bigger size! read more

I absolutely LOVE this Bakery! The moment you walk in multiple delicious smells hit your nose all at once! Everything is freshly baked and beautiful I got a warmed Twice Baked Almond Croissant and A Raspberry Bar and they both were to die for! read more

I feel it's new roasted espresso, I like it. The pastries are delicious and their croissants balance moisture that becomes great for my taste. Strong good customer service. Definitely recommended. read more
