crab rangoons
Lindsay H.

Came in on a Tuesday around 11:30 am after running an errand at Home Depot next door. There were several people dining in the good-sized space. I went up to the counter, which still had up plexiglass and masked workers (March 2022). Unfortunately, I can't say that the worker was friendly or patient as I quickly looked at the menu and chose: General Tso's Chicken lunch and crab rangoons to go. My order was ready within five minutes, which was probably the best part of my experience. I could see the chef whipping up my meal in the kitchen and he was working hard. The order was well-packaged, too. The food itself was pretty disappointing. Chicken-Dry, chewy, and the sauce was tasty but had no kick. I was also bummed to only have three broccoli in the order. The lunch special came with fried rice, an egg roll, and soup. The fried rice is white rice with a splash of soy sauce and corn in it. The egg roll was small and crisp and was more like a fried wonton with minced pork and no other seasonings or fillings like cabbage. No soup came with a to-go order, as an FYI. Rangoons-Tiny dollop of cream cheese in center of a lot of oily, very chewy wonton. Huge sweet and sour sauce came with it, though! These rangoons were extremely expensive-almost as much as the entree itself and were unfortunately, not worth the cost. I will try any place twice (within reason), but I won't be in a rush to retry this spot since the service nor the food were very good, sadly. I was really crossing my fingers for a local go-to Chinese spot.

This restaurant feels like new Japanese, a western twist. We had the crab cakes, which were…read moredelicious with a side of roasted beets and edamame. We also had the drunken noodles and the spicy chicken steamed buns. I will say that the portions feel small for the apps and buns. Entrées are filling. Some of the meat in the drunken noodles were tough, others was nice and soft. Service was good. Ambiance is small and feels quaint, they have a patio outside in the back. 8/10

There are several nearby lots also pay-to-park but some may be free on weekends. Kaizen appears to me to be more akin to an Izakaya than a noodle hosue, where you basically go for drinks and they supply some food to keep things going - it has a more expansive menu than an Izakaya (which tends to be yakitori and sushi) - Kaizen's menu features several noodle dishes which all looked very interesting. We started with the appetizers and ordered some mixed steamed buns and soup. All of the buns that I tried I liked quite a bit - some strong, distinctive flavors. For an entree I ordered the Koji-Cured Ribeye medium-rare - 12 oz sliced ribeye, gai lan, broad bean paste, steamed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptional - the next night we tried Fin-Two Japanese Ale House across the street - this restaurant was my preference - the flavors seemed more authentic and the quality of the dishes better in my opinion.

Yamaoto Poke - Farragut, TN…read more Stopped in at Yamaoto Poke in Farragut and walked out genuinely impressed. The food was excellent across the board -- fresh, generously portioned, and packed with flavor. The fish tasted clean and high-quality, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and every topping and sauce combination came together beautifully. You can tell they care about ingredient quality and don't cut corners. Service was equally outstanding. Our server Addison was amazing -- friendly, attentive, and patient walking us through the build-your-own options without ever making us feel rushed. She made the whole experience feel welcoming from start to finish. With amazing look and ambianc If you're in the Farragut area and craving poke, this is the spot. Easy five stars -- we'll definitely be back, and we'll be asking for Addison.

I got the dumplings and the spring rolls to start and they were delicious. I got the Yamato 'burger' also and it was good too. It was a little sweet and reminded me a bit of salty cha su in a pita. - Just know it's not an American burger before you order it. Ming explained this to me before so I was prepared. :) My friend got the ramen bowl with spicy miso and ribeye and said it was amazing with the perfect amount of spice. Another friend got the Crab poke bowl, she said it was good with different textures. Everything we ate was good! The atmosphere was relaxing (we were seated in the corner booth).
