It's a good sign for a restaurant when 1/2 a dozen car doors opened as the small restaurant flipped over its closed sign, There are no more than 10 tables and a bar to sit at. My wife and I shared the Spring Rolls (3 rolls) and potstickers (3) which were hot and delicious. A dish of Drunken Noodles with chicken was so ample as we took 1/2 home. My daughter had the Pod Thai with chicken and my Son-in-law had the Fried Rice with chicken both dishes were sampled and likewise extraordinary good. They took 1/2 of the entrees home. Finding consistent and authentic Thai food is not the easiest in the South. Pin Thai will not disappoint on both fronts. The fried chive mochi was exceptional (although, not Thai - Chinese), it's an amazing starter with complexity of texture and flavor. Frankly, I would go back for just that appetizer. The yellow curry is always my go-to. With a heat chart of 1, 2, or 3, the middle choice adds more heat than anticipated, which was perfect for me. The rice was fresh. The hospitality of the workers were wonderful! I got thai tea, khao soi, and mango sticky rice and they were all delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the sticky rice also had pandan flavoring. I'd definitely recommend this place, and I will be coming back! read more

I was looking forward to a dinner at Pin Thai, as I read several positive reviews. While the food was very good, the service was was poor. The interior is fairly basic and the space is compact. We arrived for dinner on a Sunday evening. After ordering, our food wasn't served for over 40 minutes. During that time, the server filled up our water one time but didn't mention any delay in the kitchen. Once we had our food the table next to us ordered, and they had 5 main dishes served by the time we were half way finished with our meals. As for the food, we had the cashew chicken and the Masaman curry chicken, both served with white rice. The dishes were very, very good. It's a shame the service overshadowed the food. read more

I opted for level 2 spiciness and it was perfect - made my nose run, but not so hot I couldn't enjoy the flavor of the food. When I arrived, there was a sign on the door that said they took a break until 5, so I had to sit in the parking lot to wait. No big deal, but would have been nice to had that online so I could have prepared better. The interior is small, but clean and comfortable. I'm sure other dishes are great. The drunken noodles we had were good and seasoned well. All the food was fresh. I didn't like the tiger cry. The sauce was too salty and the steak was over cooked. The other item we ordered wasn't good. The papaya was decent but it isn't as good as my sister in laws. Everything was decent but not great. The service was good. The lady was really nice and attentive. It was clean and nice in there. I would come again if I was craving Thai but I wouldn't just recommend it to someone though. read more

It is not a big restaurant but it was not crowded on a Wednesday night. We came as a group of 5 and quickly got to sit down. Parking can be a little tricky. My friends got fried taro and fried tofu as the appetizer, which was yummy with the sauce. My friends got drunken noodles and the other GUAY TIEW. I got the GUAY TIEW TOM YUM - Thai rice noodles in Tom yum soup. My GUAY TIEW TOM YUM is fine, although I'm not a big fan of fried pork rind. My friend also got the mango sticky rice, the display and flavor are both good. Apparently the chive cakes are awesome (we call it scallion pancake), you can always get them to go and enjoy later. The only bummer is it took so long for our entrees to be ready. Would like to come back next time and try their pad Thai. read more

The curry was a little too soupy for me. A thicker curry is ideal. The flavors though were fantastic. The pad Thai had a weird sauce on it. It was different from most places. Instead of a light peanut sauce, it was more like a Chinese style sauce. Was not a fan. The tiger cry beef salad came out after we were already done with our meal. That's why service was only ok. The tiger cry was so so for us. I was disappointed to not see more authentic dishes on the menu. The spice range is 1-3. Three for us was a medium spicy. I like it spicy. So it needs a lot more heat. With great reviews and my obsession with Thai food, I knew I needed to give Pin a try. We were nervous about the timing/wait after reading reviews and it being a new business, but it was not busy as all on a Tuesday evening. Our to-go order was ready within 10 minutes and traveled really well the 15 minutes to our home. The staff was friendly and prompt, which is always appreciated! We ordered: Spring Rolls-It is an order of 3 and they were warm, perfectly crispy, and the sauce flavorful with a bit of a spice kick. Pad See Ew with Chicken-For $12, we were surprised to have a smaller portion than we are used to elsewhere for cheaper. Luckily, the flavor made up for the cost. Such depth of flavor, the chicken tender, and the carrots and broccoli were perfectly cooked. Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp-SO good. Not being huge onion fans (this came with a lot), we would probably omit these next time, but the rice was outstanding. Great flavor, and the rice was somewhat sticky with an abundance of the sauce they stir-fried it it. The menu itself has some unique offerings, especially with noodle dishes, that we have not seen elsewhere. Looking forward to trying out the curry and other dishes sometime soon! read more

I absolutely love this place! I came here for the first time on opening night and it was so lively! The family that owns the place originally cooked at Taste of Thai and they brought over only the best to their establishment. To call their food comforting is an understatement and that's not even accounting the care that they take when serving you. They always recognize us whenever we come back and there have been times when they have brought us keychains and stuff from their trips! The food always comes out very fast and even when it takes longer, they always find time to check in on us to make sure that our stay is as pleasant as always. This time I ordered the Red Curry with Tofu and Cashew sauce with Tofu. The cashew sauce is one of our favorites with its strong while lite flavors. The balance of protein and veggie is perfect and fulfilling. We always find time to race 30 minutes to them after work and there has even been a time where they stayed open for us cause we were late due to traffic. Sometimes they might be slow, but remember. Super delicious food and a fun and light atmosphere. This brand new restaurant is already one of my favorite spots in the Knoxville area. Let's start with the customer service. It is top notch as we were quickly greeted and our needs we're always in their attention and met quickly. You can tell they want to make sure you not only to get what you order, but that you have an amazing experience too. While we were waiting for food many takeout orders were coming and going and they were all taken care of like family and one even got help loading a large order into their car. Now for the food. We ordered the panang curry with chicken and the cashew sauce with tofu, both were absolutely delicious. The curry was excellently prepared and seasoned to the point I just wanted to lick the bowl clean. The cashew sauce was just as good; it was absolutely delicious and also full of flavor without being too heavy or overwhelming. Everything was prepared perfectly and when we were asked how things were after getting our food it was from a place of genuine care and attention to detail. Pin Thai is the newest entrant in the ever-growing Thai restaurant category. As one who loves Thai food, I was eager to try them out. I hoped they would be like Tuk Tuk (another new Thai place), which is excellent. With this location being right off Campbell Station Rd., it is much closer to my house and would be very convenient. But, unfortunately, I would have to disagree with the other reviewers about the quality of Pin Thai. It wasn't close to the level of Tuk Tuk or Taste of Thai. I ordered takeout -- 2 Masaman Curry Chickens, 1 Basil Rice, and 1 Tom Kai Soup. Total cost $55. Pricewise, this is slightly more than what I'd pay at the competition. The masaman curry was the weakest entree in my opinion. While they had the avocado, cashews, and chicken, the flavor was kind of bland. Also, it came with a partially filled rice container. The only thing that was pretty good is the Tom Kai soup. Good flavor and they didn't skimp on the chicken. Would I go back? Maybe. But, for less money, I can get better quality Thai food elsewhere. So, I am not likely to return for awhile. Overall: It's average-quality Thai food. Not the best; not the worst. read more

We've been looking for a Thai place close by with fresh spring rolls! This establishment recently opened so we thought we'd try it. No FRESH SPRING ROLLS. Establishment is small, both bar seating and Tables. We're greeted and seated..menus and a wrapped fork. We split a dish , I had ice tea as well. Meal came with 2 saucers to split the meal, I got up and got napkins and extra forks to get the drunken noodles out of the main dish. I wish them much luck as I never want a family biz to fail. This place is really good! We got take-out on a Sunday night. We ordered chive cake and fried taro root both were good. I had the Tom Kha soup. It was yummy. Not too spicy. I also had the yellow curry with chicken. The sauce had lots of flavor. The only thing we didn't like was the crab fried rice. It had a strong flavor from the crab and didn't smell very good. This restaurant is new in the neighborhood. In the same strip as Taco Boy off Campbell Station Rd near exit 373 off I-40. Definitely worth the visit! I ordered pad se ew and hubby ordered drunken noodles #3 heat. He loved his drunken noodles and my pad se ew was one of the best I've had. Portions are generous. The sticky rice comes with mango, we ordered w/o mango. Crushed peanuts come in a side cup. It was warm, fresh & made to order. Fantastic!!! It's only been open 2 days and it is nice to see how many people were here for dinner and for take out. Staff was busy and friendly. It's family run.
