Had the beef noodle soup with egg noodles subbed in and extra beef, plus an order of spring rolls. Everything was delicious. The broth was rich and had a good hit of black pepper and chili, the sliced beef was tender, and the bowl was generous enough that I had leftovers to bring home even after the extra beef. If you like a heartier noodle, the egg noodle sub is worth it. The spring rolls came out a little uneven on the first pass. Two were hot and crisp, two were noticeably pale and cold in the middle, and you could see the difference on the plate. I mentioned it and they replaced the whole order with four fresh, hot rolls without any fuss. That's how it should be handled and I appreciated it. Two things about the experience worth knowing. First, they have a robot server with a cat face that brings food to the table. It is cute and also mildly unnerving, and I mean both of those as compliments. Second, there was one human server working the entire front of house, and she was as attentive as a single person can be while covering a whole dining room. Not a knock on her at all. We got there right as they opened at 5pm on a Friday and it was calm and pleasant in the restaurant. We like taking our time deciding and it was our first time so we ordered at the kiosk tablet rather than the QR codes at the tables. Super easy process, you enter what you want, pay, take a number stand, punch it in and sit where you like. So much seating available so don't worry about needing to be there at a certain time or day. The booths are comfortable and squishy cushioned as well! I ordered the thai tea to drink, tom yum with shrimp, and massaman curry with chicken. The crispy spring rolls were my partner's but of course I had to have a bite. The thai tea portion was generous compared to what I've seen at some places! Unfortunately the tom yum got mixed up with their tom kha. I agreed to just take the tom kha instead because it felt awkward to make them start the soup completely over. The massaman curry was tasty and flavorful, the vegetables cooked just right to be crisp tender. The chicken itself was not overcooked at all, fork tender. Jasmine rice was not seasoned or cooked with anything special, just plain. Two of the four crispy spring rolls were cold but after telling the waitress about it they quickly replaced the order with four fresh rolls that were perfect along with a nice sweet chili dipping sauce. They have a robot server too! Some things are brought out by the waitress because they need special handling but everything else it comes to your table and you take your plate or bowl from the tray. Overall I've decided that this is my new Thai place in town. Everything tasted authentic, fresh and made with care. Too many Asian restaurants out here pretend to serve something authentic just to hike the price up. Prices here are reasonable, portions are generous and the recipes are legit. Good: great pad Thai, nice smoky fried rice. Pot stickers are fine, but nothing special. Bad: If you order online and get a text that your order is ready, don't believe it. We live nearby and always end up waiting at least 15 mins after the "your order is ready" text. They've never provided chopsticks. Maybe you have to ask for them, but I didn't notice until I got home. The tom kha portions are tiny. My container was only half full. The crab rangoons are comically small. I actually laughed when I opened the box. Couldn't find any basil in the basil fried rice. They close at 8pm.... I almost never eat that early, so it's a weekend lunch spot for me. Fai Thai served delicious dishes. We ended up getting green curry and the black pepper beef. Both were cooked well, not too salty, and had a great texture. The crab Rangoon was crisped to perfection & the sauce it came with was so tasty! We came on a Monday afternoon, so they weren't too busy. The robot server was pretty cool & the staff were lovely! The food is excellent. I had the Pad See Ew and I'd definitely order it again. 5 stars for the food. All ordering is through your smartphone after scanning a QR code. They even have a robot bringing out the food. If you prefer not having contact with a human then I think it would be great. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, hands down. The story behind Fai Thai Kitchen is such a good one. I met the owner many years ago when she was working at another Thai restaurant, and have kept up with her business ventures since! From food truck, to first brick and mortar, to now - it has been an incredible journey watching her build this restaurant into what it is! She is beyond sweet and has put so much history and love into these recipes. Crafted from Thai moms' cookbooks and traditions, these dishes have been refined to perfection. Honestly this was the best drunken noodle dish I've ever had. Perfectly saucy, great flavor, very generous portion. Amazing. The pad Thai was also incredible with a sprits of lime that was not overpowering but made it very bright and fresh, which complemented the sauce so well. Also, I'm a big Thai tea lover. Literally from the first time I got to try it from the Fai Thai food truck before it was even on the menu. This is the best Thai tea I've had - glad it's a menu staple now :) Also, they have THE CUTEST robot waiter who brings your food to your table. Food came out so quickly and everyone at the restaurant was beyond friendly. Love the bright colors inside, and they have a great setup for to-go orders (or just easily packaging up leftovers - remember the portions are good size!) Ok so let me say, my initial motivation for going here was to see the robot that delivers the food. This is a bright and modern looking spot in a plaza. You can order at the counter or use the QR code at the table to order. It was a comfortable place with tables and booths and I was greeted warmly when I arrived. You do have to get your own water, chopsticks, leftover containers, napkins, etc. It wasn't crowded and I was asked if I wanted ice water and it was brought to my table. I also needed a fork and had to ask. So it's not a traditional sit down type of place, if that's what you're expecting. I ordered a gyoza appetizer to start. It was ok, I like a bit more filling and a slightly more chewy wrapper. These were more crisp on the outside and the filling was a bit sparse. I got pad Thai with tofu for my meal. It was a really large portion and tasted hot and fresh. I like my pad Thai a bit more sour/acidic. This version was on the sweeter, saltier side. It was still tasty and I had enough to eat twice more at home since I'd had an appetizer. This was an affordable meal that satisfied my need for noodles! I think we found our new favorite Thai place in Knoxville. We went with our go to dishes, Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle. The noodles were cooked perfectly, veggies perfectly sautéed, and the spices were on point. They make their own spice blend so a 2-3/5 scale was plenty enough for us. The spring rolls were also good. On the inside it was nothing fancy. You can either order carry out at the counter or order from your phone with an QR code at a table to dine in. I found it kind of odd that they didn't take your order at the table or counter for dine in, but I guess it helps reduce the costs of having wait staff. They have self serve silverware, condiments and water, along with the ability to get your own to-go box. If you're looking for top tier wait staff service, you should probably look elsewhere. However, if great tasting food with lots of flavor is more important, this this should be your new go-to place for Thai. We will 100% order from here again. read more

We found this restaurant through a Facebook recommendation. My wife and I were due a date night and I was craving some good Pad Thai since Taste of Thai shut down and Little Bangkok changed post-covid. I heard they used to be a food truck and got a permanent location in Bearden Hill so I was hopeful. The restaurant is tucked away in the Western Plaza on Kingston Pike. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly and helpful owner who was happy to recommend a dish for my wife (I already knew I was getting the Pad Thai) and she ordered the yellow curry. We were allowed to sit where we wanted (inside and outside seating is available) while we waited for our food to be brought out to us. My wife also ordered a Thai Tea that was creamy, savory, and delicious. Prices are what you would expect from high quality Thai food. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and looked amazing! I really wish I had taken a picture because it was vibrant and fresh looking. The Pad Thai was as good as any I had ever had in Knoxville. There were ample shrimps that were at least "two biters". The proportions of the ingredients were correct and had a lovely taste. My only complaint was that it was not spicy at all (which turned out to be a problem of my own making). I was informed by the owner that they default to a "0" spice unless you ask for more so they can be more palatable to a larger range of tastes. On my next trip, I will order a "1" spice and go from there. My wife's yellow curry also had abundant, large shrimp and a beautiful medley of veggies and potatoes. The curry, again, lacked spice but the overall profile was there and it was delicious nonetheless. The owner also recommended that his favorite were the drunken noodles. I plan to get this next time along with another "customer favorite" the Tom Kha soup. I have to say, my wife and I will probably share this menu for lunch, but I still want to go back yet again and try the Thai Beef Noodle Soup! Sounds very comforting with the cold weather setting in. I've said before that I don't give a lot of 5* reviews, but the total package at Fai Thai Kitchen was there and is deserving. From the delicious Thai food to the lovely family that runs it, I predict that if the location doesn't impact them, they will be a Bearden Hill staple for years to come. read more

The best Thai in Knoxville is back, baybee! A little advice if you have not been... When you walk in, seat yourself at a table and use your phone to scan the QR code on the table. The QR code will allow you to access the menu, order and pay. You will receive a confirmation immediately after your order is accepted. They have water, glasses for water, utensils, and to go containers along the wall to your left where you walked in. You can do all this without interacting with the staff. The staff will bring your order to you in a timely manner. Once they bring it, eat it! If you insist on ordering through a human you can stand at the counter and stare at the screen. Folks eating or waiting for their order will stare at you like, "look at this bozo, it's like it's their first time wondering when someone will serve them." (You gotta serve somebody, but here you can serve yourself!) Eventually someone will come and can tell them you'd like to order. The "thai hot" spice level is top notch on the entrees but lookout if you go that far on soup. Their chili flakes are awesome and have a bit of a savory element to them without blasting you with the flora brightness found in some hot/super hot pepper varieties. It's nice to have the QR code on the table to order your food so you can order as soon as you're ready and splitting the check isn't a hassle. The most important part: the food.
