Found them due to the Knoxville Vegan Chef Challenge, so this review is a bit delinquent. We ordered the roasted sweet potato tacos as a bowl to make it gluten free. We also got the corn salsa and the habernaro salsa, which were both delicious. They were at the South Side garage when we found them, so we got some kombucha and an old fashioned that did not disappoint. Cody was manning the truck that day and he was so friendly, helpful and knew all about how to veganize their food and made any necessary adjustments. He even came into the garage to double check on preparation for us. He gave us service that was exceptional. The food was delicious and we need to find CM again stat! Loved the location and the ambiance of the Garage as well. The one downside is that the "location" calendar was a little hard to use since I wasn't familiar with some of the places listed on it and didn't know where those places were since there weren't address on many of the listings. But, I'm sure that's a software issue they have no control over. If you see the truck, stop! It's worth a visit. read more

The food is expensive but it is higher class food truck eating. This isn't greasy food for the football game; it tastes good and is more sophisticated than what you think food truck eating is. I saw the rather large bulbous fan outlet on top of the food truck; ok it is not really a food truck but a food stand that is towed; and the fan outlet tells me that the proprietor is cooking a lot of food to have such a ventilator stack above. The food was quickly prepared, the presentation was nice, & the Captain is a nice dude. I enjoyed the food, and I see why people about town were telling me to try it. I had the Ahi Tuna soft tacos..quite good. I also had the cheese Quesadilla side which was tasty. While the food is a bit expensive, I think it was worth it. I offer 5 stars presumptuously simply because I want to try it again someday but really i think the other items are just as good; everyone around me was chowing down and having a good time - no complaints heard. So I have tried this truck twice now. The first time, I got the sweet potato tacos and was really excited. When I got my order and started to eat it, the combination of roasted sweet potato and raw cabbage was so disgusting that it brought me to tears. Who would think that sweet potato, lime, and cabbage go together? Well a year or so later I am back and decided to try the new bowl option since I saw that they won an award for their tacos. The sweet potatoes have a good flavor and I like them, but the "pico" is just poor-quality tomatoes diced and soaked in lime. On a bed of bland smushed up rice. WTF? One look at the American-Mexican fusion tacos and you know you're in for a treat! $8-10 for 2 tacos might seem steep, but these aren't your regular dollar menu tacos. First of all, they are sizeable and stuffed to the brim with goodness. Two tacos were completely filling for me, but if you are still wanting more, check out the 'Not Tacos' portion of the menu for some additional noms. I am particularly fond of their street corn. I've had the Pollo with Kiwi Chutney and the Spicy Thai Peanut Chicken tacos. The freshness of the kiwi chutney was delicious. The Spicy Thai Peanut Chicken tacos are my jam! This truck was at a music event downtown tonight. To my surprise, I was able to find something I could enjoy being vegan. I'm used to only being able to get fries at an event such as this. I had nachos topped with a seasoned sweet potatoes mix, black beans, pico, cilantro, and carrots. If there was vegan cheese or sour cream I would give 5 stars to making a complete vegan nacho bowl. But they do not have any beverages for sale. Heads up. I got the street corn as a complimentary addition because of a YELP check in with this food truck. It looked delicious, but it was cold. Maybe it was supposed to be cold, but I was anticipating hot corn on the cob with all the fixings on the top. So that part was disappointing, but it was free, so I'm not really complaining. We hired Captain Muchachos for my client's wedding rehearsal party at Under Canvas Smoky Mountains in September 2019. They were a HUGE hit! They drove to a very remote location for our wedding, and were on time and ready to go despite the monsoon weather occassion. The food was, as always, amazing! Our guests were raving about the tacos and mexicorn side. We even had some gluten free and vegan guests that were accommodated too. The portions were more than enough and the serving time for about 140 people was very reasonable. We could not have been happier with how it turned out.
