I'm so happy to see this place finally open! They've only been open a week or so and today had just a limited menu (tacos, burritos, quesadillas). The owner said he'd be adding things such as tamales and menudo (maybe as specials rather than daily items, I'm not sure). Soft drinks and horchata, also-- I don't think they have any alcohol.
It's a small place with a few tables and you order at the counter, where they also keep a few sauce options. I wasn't planning to eat but was so excited to see them finally open that I had to stop in and try, and just had two tacos. The two were both delicious and unlike some taco places, you could have lettuce/tomato as well as the more standard cilantro/onions plus the meat and cheese. I got mine loaded and added a guac-like sauce and the mild salsa (mild as spicy enough for me!). The only issue I had at all was that with all the stuff inside, a single tortilla wasn't enough-- I'd recommend thicker tortilla or double-tortilla like some places use.
The tacos were very good and moderately priced, although in the Knoxville area I still don't find anyone as good as La Herradura....but this place is going to be a regular stop for me when I'm in that area. VERY happy to have them open and wish them all success.
PS. Let me add-- someone is going to write a review saying "oh, tacos are better in California" (or Arizona, or New Jersey, or somewhere). And someone is going to say their menu is limited and so on. I'm not saying this place is world-class; I'm saying it's a very good taco for the price and for being in this area where there's not a whole lot to choose from! read more
