Staff were AWESOME, super attentive, friendly, and got our orders right, etc. Food was good and there was lots of meat in it, but the restaurant was kinda dirty over by the kitchen where we were seated. If it was clean it would have been a 5 but the floors and walls were dirty and it kinda felt like I was in a back room of a restaurant, not at the front of house. We'll still be back. Definitely worthy of five stars. My wife saw a recommendation on Nextdoor so we headed over for lunch. Moderately crowded at nearly 1pm by we were seat immediately. Drink came equally as fast and since it was our first time we opted to read the entire menu, twice. We both settled on their rapid lunch and rapid it was. My wife had a margarita only to find it was happy hour 2 for 1 special time. Two thumbs up on the margarita she determined. Both of our lunches were too big to finish so a late night snack may be in the offing. Very pleasant people, not overly loud and the food was excellent. My party of 3 came in on a busy Friday night around 730 and they were packed, but the owner/manager greeted us and got us a seat right away. Food was great, we ordered the carnitas and al pastor street tacos (bomb) and flautas for my son. We all enjoyed the meal but the service was what was really above and beyond. One of my coworkers ask if I wanted a taco and I ask what else they have,well they got it all. We ordered to go and it was great. The portion size is large and full of flavor. I had the cheese steak burrito and my coworker had the hard shell tacos. The taco's were packed with meat and all the normal toppings. My burritos were smothered in melted cheese and were great. As visitors from Michigan I rely on Yelp to scout out great restaurants. I was able to find Taco Boy and was thrilled to have such amazing food since we'd been eating alot of fast food on our trip. Two of us ordered the steak, chicken, shrimp fajitas and two ordered chicken tacos. Everything was fresh and nicely packaged for carryout. If you're a guacamole connossieur, you must order it. This place makes guacamole as close to my own recipe that I've ever found. Amazing for a restaurant. Very fresh too. Chips were fresh and crisp. We had fajita leftovers which were enough for two more meals. My nephew is a big eater and he couldn't even finish his fajita dinner. There was a LOT in one order. The food did not disappoint, the salsa was tasty, chips were crispy and flavorful. The service was great, staff attentive, bringing out more chips. salsa and refilling drinks. Pretty standard for these "pop up" Mexican restaurants you see just about anywhere. Friendly staff. The food is either bland (chimichanga with boiled shredded chicken only, deep fried, then drowned in cheese sauce) or over-seasoned, and beyond edible (chicken strips overcooked and drowned in a chipotle powder seasoning packet and served on a tortilla). First visit and figured since you're a Mexican restaurant, you should be able to get a Chimi and Tacos right with zero effort. The rice and beans are what you find at every other restaurant and likely come from a can? The salsa is better than usual, with more chunks of onions, peppers etc, and a little extra kick. Taco Boy is a pretty solid Mexican restaurant. Typical fare -- burritos, tacos (of course), and chips/salsa. I had two street tacos -- steak and chicken. My wife had the chicken soup. We also had an order of guacamole. I'd rate everything as good. The guac was above average and definitely tasted freshly made. That's a good test because some places use the prepackaged stuff and it isn't nearly as good. Tacos were authentic and came with topping like cilantro, onions, and hot salsa. The chicken soup was also above average -- lots of chicken, avocado, rice. I would definitely go back and was happy with everything. Is it unique compared to what you'd see around town -- not especially. But, I would say it's a good choice for Mexican food and worth a try. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon on our way home from Atlanta to Detroit. The service and food were both great. Gabriel was our waiter and he was friendly and helpful. We had a mistake with our order and he had it promptly correctly. The salsa is delicious; chunks of tomato, onion and cilantro with just the right amount of heat. Chips were warm out of the oven. I had the fajita shrimp salad and it was loaded with shrimp. It's not huge but was plenty. My boyfriend had nachos supreme that were delicious. They were very flavorful. His son who is picky and doesn't eat much ordered cheese nachos and rice. He ate it all. He said they were the best nachos ever. The best mexican food I've found in west Knoxville so far. Coming from Southern California, the bar is high and this place doesn't disappoint. We got street tacos, enchiladas and sopes. They hand made the sopes! The asada is tender and flavorful, the carnitas is juicy and is seared to have a crunch to it (like they make it in San Diego).
