Truly fantastic! A wide variety of delicious traditional Mexican foods, plus an equally enormous variety of Street tacos, corn or flour. The service was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. Cool contemporary environment plus a beautiful bar. And the cocktails are reasonably priced, including $5 Margaritas every day. Me and my group were quite impressed!

Beef tongue taco, carnitas taco and chorizo taco. All amazing!

This place is just casually sitting in a plaza on Kingston pike. I can't believe I pass it all the time without noticing it. Plenty of parkings. We got queso to begin with. It was pretty good. The menu got a lot of selections, I can't even finish reading through all of them and try to understand everything. And our service lady stopped by 3 times already. So I quickly selected 3 tacos for dinner, beef tongue is their iconic one and I really loved it. Appreciate that they had to confirm with me that I'm ok with tongue, yes of course. Their in-house fresh-made corn tortillas are really good. Ambience is fine and all I wished was I can take my time reading the menu and finishing my food.

Entomatadas - shredded chicken wrapped in corn tortillas with red sauce on top. It looks like more than it really is.

Cataleya has the look of a trendy restaurant but I wasn't blown away. The chips and salsa were fine and the service was really good but I had a lot of trouble deciding what I wanted, which was not a good thing in this case. Most of the dishes were averaging $15-$20 without rice and beans, which is a tough sell for Mexican food. The entrees were presented very well on the menu and felt unique from usual Mexican faire, but really weren't great in execution from what I saw and tasted. Kudos for good plating across the board though. I ordered the Entomatadas and they looked good (see photo) but didn't have much flavor at all. All it was some shredded chicken wrapped in corn tortillas with red sauce and crema on top. The vegetables were basically only garnishes. The chicken was bland and I didn't enjoy the meal for the $17 price point. For nearly half of what I paid after tip I could have gone next door to Salsarita's and ordered a similar thing but with more food. My friend had the enchiladas which were bland as well. Sorry, but with other Mexican places around the corner, the price point here makes me not want to recommend Cataleya even with their good service and creative menu.

The food is great, the first time we went the service wasn't awesome but this time they did step it up. The queso is good too. The flowers are pretty garnishes as well.

Great food! Came in for a late lunch/early dinner today celebrating our son's birthday. Everything was excellent and they brought us a churro cheesecake to help celebrate. Highly recommend!

VERY uncomfortable and upright benches with a short belly to table distance.

I've got to say, that was the most painful seating I've been in a long time. The booth we were in was belly to the table and straight up back at an extremely uncomfortable angle. On a Monday night, not a lot of people there and I couldn't tell if it was just a slow day of the week or no one wanted to visit a chiropractor afterwards. The service was fine and the food was good, but the uncomfortable seating just lingers with you. It was nice having a cocktail menu but how many restaurants this far from COVID still only offer QR code menus? Obviously not those who are focused on customer service. So, whip out the phone and go thru that. My dinner partner joked so that they can more dynamically change prices. Who knows. The Chicken Mole Enchilada was good as was the margarita, but I definitely will not do that to my body again. Ymmv based upon your anatomy.

Lunch #6- Chicken Enchilada, chicken soft taco, rice and refried beans.

We stopped in for lunch and really liked the vibe of the place. It' feels more like an upscale Mexican restaurant. The decor was colorful but unique- artsy. We were seated right away and a girl brought over the chips and salsa. Our server, Juan, came right over and took our drink order. We ordered our meal when he returned. Our meals came out quickly and were fresh and hot. I ordered the lunch Cantachinga with rice, refried beans and guacamole salad. My husband ordered the lunch #6- chicken enchilada and chicken soft taco plus rice and refried beans. The salsa was delicious with just a hint of heat. We both enjoyed our meals a lot. Juan checked on us just the right amount of times and was super nice! He was a great server! There was snow on the ground today but they have a nice patio area when the weather is nice.we will definitely be back!!

If you are looking for Mexican food that is not the same as all the other restaurants in town this is your place. The atmosphere is great and the service impeccable. Have been more than once and not one complaint to be had. Go try it!! You will not be disappointed.

Tonight's food adventure was unexciting. We had some okay food here on a prior visit but not tonight. The restaurant is clean, the decor appealing, and friendly employees. I ordered a Chicharron taco, a Chorizo taco, a chile relleño and a grapefruit margarita. The tacos were presented beautifully. The Chorizo taco was good, but the chorizo was way too mild. Chicharrones are crunchy pieces of fried pork belly, but in my Chicharron taco, the pork belly was not breaded nor was it crunchy, it was slimy. A chile relleño is traditionally a Poblano pepper stuffed with cheese. This one was stuffed with dry chicken drowned in a tomato sauce. A grapefruit Margarita needs to have a fruit forward grapefruit taste. Not so with this one. The drink was pink and garnished with a grapefruit but the taste of grapefruit and alcohol in the drink was extremely weak. I only had two sips and pushed it to the side. I ate the entrees but did not finish the Margarita. I told our server, he said he was sorry and when the bill came, I was charged for the Margarita I did not drink. I didn't make a scene; I paid the bill, tipped our server 15% and then we left. I don't think we will return.

A Memorable Evening at Raven Steakhouse: A Refined Gem in Downtown Maryville…read moreAs a person with a particular appreciation for establishments that elevate special occasions, I recently had the pleasure of dining at Raven Steakhouse (211 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801), and I can confidently say it sets a new standard for fine dining in the region. From the moment of arrival, the experience was seamless. Our reservation was honored promptly, and we were escorted through an elegantly appointed dining room that strikes the perfect balance: sophisticated and refined, with beautiful linens, soft lighting, and an atmosphere of quiet luxury that feels welcoming rather than intimidating. The space exudes timeless sophistication without a hint of pretension--a rare and refreshing quality. Our server, Alene--who doubles as a skilled sommelier--approached with genuine warmth and effortless grace. Her deep knowledge of both the menu and wine pairings proved invaluable, guiding us thoughtfully through an impressive selection of dishes. Attentive without ever being intrusive, she anticipated needs with remarkable precision, creating that ideal sense of being cared for rather than merely served. Alene's charm and professionalism elevated the entire evening. We began with two Raven Salads, which immediately demonstrated the kitchen's commitment to quality and restraint. The artisan mixed greens were impeccably fresh and crisp, serving as an ideal foundation for the other components. The bright acidity from pickled onions and the house vinaigrette was masterfully balanced against the rich, unctuous egg and perfectly portioned Benton's bacon--a locally revered ingredient that is too often overused. Here, it was handled with exemplary subtlety, allowing each element to shine. For entrées, my companion selected the Chilean Sea Bass, paired flawlessly by Alene with an unoaked Chardonnay, while I enjoyed the Prime Rib Eye. Both preparations were executed with precision: the sea bass moist and delicate, the rib eye richly marbled and cooked to absolute perfection. That first bite prompted the kind of involuntary satisfaction that only truly exceptional cuisine inspires--eyes closed, a contented lean back. The wine pairings did more than complement; they elevated and transformed the dishes, creating a harmonious whole that felt greater than the sum of its parts. An unexpected highlight came with dessert. We had initially ordered the signature 10-layer chocolate cake, only to learn the chef deemed that day's batch imperfect. Rather than disappointment, we were met with gracious transparency and a complimentary replacement. We chose the Bananas Foster, a dish new to me, and it proved transcendent: warm, caramelized bananas nestled alongside creamy house-made ice cream delivered pure indulgence. I now find myself wary of ordering it elsewhere, lest it fall short of this benchmark. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed an expertly crafted Old Fashioned and a pair of Espresso Martinis, each presented in ideal glassware and demonstrating true mixology artistry. In a year just beginning, Raven Steakhouse transformed our first "date night" of 2026 into an unforgettable celebration of culinary excellence and impeccable service. The drive home was filled with conversation about when we might return--proof of an experience that lingers long after the last bite. For anyone seeking a luxurious dinner where outstanding food, thoughtful wine and cocktail pairings, and genuinely gracious service converge, Raven Steakhouse is wholeheartedly recommended. This downtown Maryville treasure not only lives up to its elevated reputation but surpasses it. I eagerly anticipate my next visit.

The dark, glamorous aesthetic is stunning--perfect for date night or for impressing out-of-town guests. I loved the gold accents, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting. Everything worked together beautifully. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the mixologists work their magic. They were incredibly helpful in guiding us toward drinks that matched our preferences. I absolutely loved my cocktail--even if I can't recall the name--because it delivered the spicy kick they promised. We also ordered several shareable plates, all of which were delicious. We tried the Carnitas Tamales (shredded pork, ancho mole, fresh corn, masa, cilantro, yuzu arbequina oil), the Vegetable Empanadas (house-made pastry, wilted kale, roasted sweet potato, Oaxaca and cotija cheese, black bean purée, and adobo & chile-lime aioli), and a salad. I'd happily order any of them again. I did find myself wishing for a bit more heat, but I've learned that's hard to come by in Tennessee. At least the staff gave us a heads-up that the spice level is toned down. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. We're not expecting ultra-authentic Mexican food everywhere, but if you can't even get close, maybe don't put tacos on the menu because this felt genuinely insulting. We ordered the "small" taco board that we were told would feed 2-3 people, and it came with bland shredded chicken that tasted boiled, plus carrots, sugar snap peas, mushrooms, and corn scattered across the board like stir-fry vegetables. It also included the smallest portion of steak with chimichurri (Argentinian not Mexican), bland green salsa, terrible store-bought tasting red salsa, and "homemade" tortillas. There was almost no seasoning or flavor in any of it. The photo attached is just the chicken portion of the board because honestly the rest wasn't even worth photographing. The $15 guacamole was also extremely underwhelming for the price -- tiny portion of chips, one tiny lime wedge, and we were brought salt so we could finish seasoning it ourselves. Service was okay, but overall spending around $75 for two beers, guacamole, and food we barely wanted to finish was frustrating. Sadly, the ambiance and decor were the best part of the experience. Safe to say we will not be coming back.
