I ordered on of the "sushi" spicy tuna tacos were very bland. The taco shell was also very stale. The burnt ends were a little dry and lacked flavor. The last thing we had was the teriyaki chicken skewers. They were served as sliced chicken breast pieces with a seemingly store bough teriyaki sauce. The chicken was dry and tasted odd. It was cute to sit outside on the rooftop. If I return, I would definitely like to check out the bar as it looks more inviting. I went with some friends, which was good because the service was subpar and there were times where I felt like our waitress may have forgotten us? Don't go for the food. The portions are small and it reminds me that the hotels generally don't have the best food. Also expect the downtown price tag. My take away from this evening was that I really enjoyed my friends and next time we would be more selective with where we go... also we had to park about a block away. Beautiful!!! This roof top bar is so pretty, with killer drinks and delicious food! It was exactly what we were looking for. For parking, we found a parking garage behind the hotel, valet was expensive, even when visiting the restaurant. Head up to the top, and wow, great views, everything was wonderful! Drinks were great, the food was so fun and tasty! Those burnt ends were delicious! So seasoned and melt in your mouth! Out of 50% of the menu, took 36 min for one drink, wanted $200 min for the igloo...would Have taken 24 hours to hit that with the speed of the drinks. Quality of the drinks were horrible. Short on the burnt ends (served 5/6), sushi was worse than grocery store sushi, rice wasn't cooked, dumped sauce on it to hide the horrible quality. Plates were dirty. Skip this! Our server let us know that the opposite side, that is more enclosed, is a great place to watch the sunset, but recommended reservations. Keeping that in mind for future visitors! It's open year round and the server said that in the winter, they have igloos to make it a cold weather experience. Definitely coming back to experience that! I got the Libation Free mock tail, and it was crazy delicious! They also had numerous vegan options like edamame, corn salsa, avocado hummus and a tofu poke bowl, which would make returning with guests a no brainer so we could get something to eat here. I love a good rooftop bar so I was excited to check out Five Thirty Lounge with some colleagues while in town for work recently. Even better, I was staying at the Hyatt Place so I didn't have far to go. I made reservations online but it wasn't busy at all on a holiday weekday. Our server was really sweet and gave us some good recommendations. The cocktail list is pretty small but everything sounded great. I went with the Farragut old fashioned, made with Buffalo Trace bourbon. It had a nice vanilla flavor which I really loved. Cocktails are $14-$15 which I think is reasonable for their location. It looks like they have a decent bourbon list. Small plates and some lighter food options are available but we didn't eat anything. The view is really cool, with scenes of the mountains and cityscape. We were there near sunset which was a bonus! We were seated by one of the fire pits, which was wonderful as it was a cooler evening. read more

Food and drink: only ever had minor snacks but has been good. drinks have been good from my experience or others sharing the same Venue and vibe: definitely love the recent updates that have happened inside and outside, fun vibe for sure! Location and parking: there are garages, however, if you want to be really clever then just use the hotel valet Staff and service: it's about the only thing I'd say has been hit or miss, really awesome or mildly rude. This place has really gone downhill. Previously, you couldn't even get a reservation. We went this past Saturday evening, and it was mostly empty. We found out why! The classiness is GONE! The waitresses are dressed like strippers, the service was TERRIBLE! We finished our first round and couldn't get a refill as no one asked! The service was sub-par with inexperienced young staff, food was average, and the drinks were excellent. I had massive difficulties paying with a gift card purchased from the Five Thirty website given by a family member. My $200 gift card was not charged, even though I was assured it was. I only a credit card receipt for $51. My credit card was charged $251. Probably not legal charging for an amount different than what I signed for... 3 weeks later I received and I received a 'refund' of $200 on my credit card that was actually a debit for $200! I now am owed $400! Very poor service not knowing how to issue a refund. Way too much of my valuable time spent on this. Overall, I'm steering my friends away from this place and alerting out-of-state coworkers to never stay at this particular Hyatt hotel. Too many issues and time wasted. read more

We were meeting some friends downtown and decided to try somewhere new. This was on a Friday night and it was very crowded - if you want a table I would highly suggest having a reservation. The venue is beautiful, it is on the rooftop and is wrapped with windows. The decor is thought-out and well-done, the vibe is retro and sophisticated. They have a pretty tight space inside, so the seating is limited, but outside it is pretty open and fills up with an interesting variety of college kids, professionals just getting off work, and tourists. The food is tasty but really overpriced, the menu is pretty limited so if you're looking for dinner you might leave hungry. After a work event, we wanted a serene spot to kick back and decompress with a drink. Yelp pointed me to Five Thirty Lounge (atop the Hyatt) and it was the perfect choice! Easy parking in the State St. Parking Garage-just park on level 3 and walk the bridge. You come out near Nama and turn left to get to the Hyatt next door. Head inside, walk past the lobby and turn left to the elevators. The top level is gorgeous. Modern, trendy space filled with contemporary mood lighting and abstract art. The outdoor/rooftop area is filled with comfortable outdoor chairs and couches with firepit tables and some hightop tables, along with their own bar, separate from the inside bar. If you are ordering food, I suggest a high top, as there isn't much table top in the firepit seating. We, however, just wanted to sip and relax. The view is wonderful and serene with the twinkle lights overhead and soft glow from the firepits. The service was fantastic-welcoming, prompt, and friendly. QR code at each table to pull up the menu and a unique offering of drinks, which were pricey, but tasty. We ordered the old-fashioned, margarita, and a Pimms. My friend/boss enjoyed his margarita, and my husband and I liked our drinks, with the Pimms as our favorite of the two. Wow! The view was spectacular! What a beautiful spring night to enjoy a beverage on the rooftop! My friends and I were walking around Downtown and had lots of energy! When I stepped off the elevator and walked out onto the rooftop, I could feel the relaxing vibe. The lighting was dim and they had some jazzy, live music playing. It was soooo peaceful! I was traveling to Knoxville for business and we came in super late from a flight so this was one of the only places that was open. I was happy there were vegan appetizer options because vegan options are super limited in this area. I got the edamame and the corn salsa. Both were delicious although I felt like the edamame could've used more salt it was more just spicy. I'm giving it four stars because they do have vegan appetizer options although they are not full meals. The drinks were delicious and the view is amazing here at night. The second night we were here we watched the sunset and it was absolutely gorgeous. The staff here is super friendly however they do have a policy of no outside food or drink. One of our colleagues met up with us after getting some ice cream and was finishing the ice cream and was told he had to go all the way down to the lobby to finish it. I feel like that's a little ridiculous considering it was super late at night and they had already stopped serving food but I get that that's their policy and the server was nice about asking him to leave. read more

The Five Thirty Lounge is located on the rooftop of the Hyatt building. I was really looking forward to trying this place and we made a reservation for 6:15PM for Thursday April 18, opting for an outside "mountain view". I highly recommend making a reservation, especially for larger parties. Our server was attentive, the craft drinks were delicious, the view was amazing...and the food was HORRIBLE and OVERPRICED !! Our bill for the four of us was $300. We had a total of 6 cocktails, 1 glass of wine, 4 tuna hand rolls and 2 carpaccio hand rolls. Their food menu had not been updated and the items we really wanted were not available. The food options are very limited. Not only were the rolls overpriced at $21 and $22 each (3 small hand rolls come in each order), there was almost NO tuna and NO meat in those rolls. Too much seaweed made the rolls overly "fishy" and inedible. An overpriced disappointment. On the way out we passed through the hotel area again and our friend joked that the pre-made sandwich in the case close to the exit would've been a much better food option than what we just experienced. If you choose to enjoy the rooftop ambiance, I recommend ordering drinks only (the cocktails are good and prices are what you would typically expect for this type of establishment) but go somewhere else for dinner. ANYWHERE ELSE would have been better for food. Many great restaurants close by including Nama if you're looking for good sushi. read more

We had reservations at 6 pm for our 24th wedding anniversary based on pictures and other reviews. We arrived on time. We then went to find someone who could sit us. When we found someone to sit us, they did so in two chairs that faced the view. We waited 15 minutes and no one said another word to us. No greeting, no water, no drinks, no appetizers, nothing. Multiple people walked by and ignored us. I put in the instructions that it was our anniversary, first time dining and provided my number. There was no one else in the restaurant. There was a couple of people on the back deck. It was hard to have a worse dining experience than this. They have a nice restaurant aesthetically but no service. When we left we told the man at the front that we were leaving because we could not get service. He said ok and continued his conversation with the young girl he was talking to. I saw pictures on Yelp about this place months ago and I knew I just HAD to check it out. When I had an event to go to in downtown Knoxville and my husband and I arrived just a bit too early to go straight to the venue, I remembered this bar and we decided to go there for a drink first. The lounge is located at the top of the Hyatt on Gay street. When you enter the lobby, there's an elevator around the corner on the left side that has the "R" button for the rooftop that will take you to their front desk. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat right away. The decor in Five-Thirty is STUNNING--definitely loved the vibe there! We arrived a few minutes before 6 and our host told us about their happy hour specials. My husband ordered a beer while I ordered their house margarita. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner and mine not only looked pretty but it tasted amazing! I love margs and have had a number of good ones but I have to admit, this one definitely makes top 3! While we were sipping on our drinks, we enjoyed looking out the glass windows at the view. Our seats (and the restaurant as a whole) also has a great atmosphere for conversation; since my husband and I have two boys at home, we appreciated the ability to be able to have an adult conversation and actually be able to hear each other :D We enjoyed our time here so much that when my event was finished, we decided to come back for another drink. My husband ordered a Dark and Stormy. It's not a drink on their menu, but it's a spiced rum drink with lime and ginger beer. It's a lighter and very refreshing drink. He and I agreed that FTL made a very nice one. I had seen two other drinks on their cocktail menu that I was really interested to try--the Almond and coffee drink and the Orchard Mule. When I was talking with our waitress about my dilemma and preferences, she suggested that if I enjoy strong coffee (I told her I love americanos) then I may want to try the Cafe Campari. She did warn me that it's a bitter drink but delicious so I decided to give it a try. The presentation was simple and beautiful and I really wanted to like that drink because it was very smooth; however, our waitress wasn't lying when she said it was bitter. But staff were dressed sloppy and unappealing. I feel a set code of attire for cocktail staff and bartenders would add a little more professionalism to the lounge. We ordered two drinks. We felt like the food/snacks were mediocre and portion sizes were small. However, the food is priced appropriately for the quality and portion size. The views are not as good as the embassy suites rooftop bar (radius), but that's purely location related and size of the building.
