a table and chairs in a restaurant

A total surprise based on the exterior of the building. Beautifully decorated inside, an awesome friendly staff, and a very cool uncovered patio with tables and umbrellas along the street. They even have their own dog mascot! This is really a hidden gem that I think few people would venture into.

A delicious stout!

Gotta preface with that I've known Steve, the co-owner, forever. He always runs a good bar, and the Corner Lounge may be the culmination of all those years. I remember going to the old Corner, when Bud and his family owned it. It was always a neighborhood bar, with great music. I loved popping in there, having a beer, and not knowing who I'd run into. Steve has recaptured that magic, and done so with the best of the best in Knoxville bartenders. ESPECIALLY good ole "NO" Ian. As much as I love the drinks, it's the atmosphere, and that neighborhood bar feel that makes this a mainstay. I love seeing friends and acquaintances every time I go in. Whether it's having a cocktail with Peggy from Magpies, seeing art from local favorite Tracy Jackson, or hearing Mac Harrison & The High Score performing on a Friday night, there's always something going on at the Corner...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The brick building is easy to see as it stands out from all the other more modern-looking buildings…read morein the area. Depending on which way you are coming, you may need to drive to the far end of the parking lot past the bakery to enter the lot. There is a closer entrance but it is angled for the opposite direction and not an easy turn. There are also several one-way lanes in the parking lot so you may need to drive extra to get to an open parking spot. We did find handicapped spaces close to the entrance, but you need to drive to the back of the lot to get onto the one-way lane that goes past them. While these are the closest spots, it is still a bit of a walk to the entrance of the building, although everything is nicely paved and even. Once you get in, the interior is bright and inviting. There are many centralized seating options throughout the interior, mostly high-top tables but a few normal tables arranged in cozy settings. There is a patio in the rear of the building for when the weather is nice. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The center is made up of all the various eating establishments. There is no specific seating for the individual restaurants, so you will order your food from whatever place strikes you fancy and then take the food packaged into To Go containers to a table in one of the many seating areas. Make sure you pick up utensils and napkins from where you ordered your food as there is nothing on the tables. We were there after the lunch rush so it really was not crowded at all. There were small groups of people wandering around as well as several eating a late lunch. We did notice the overhead background music was loud and made conversation difficult. I could imagine during lunch or the in evening the overall sound level would be high as the acoustics do not favor conversation. This is pretty much only a food court. We had heard there were various craft shops as well, but apparently those had all closed. While the food selection is quite varied, addition of something to do other than eating would make this a destination location rather than just a food stop. There is some renovation happening in one end, so perhaps other shops are coming in the future. Still, it is a clean location with great interior space and makes use of a building with a lot of history that was important to the area.

The Vault was our second stop on our cocktail hop night, and I'm so glad we found it!…read more First off, the interior is chef's kiss. The dark, glamorous aesthetic is stunning--perfect for date night or for impressing out-of-town guests. I loved the gold accents, layered textures, and thoughtful lighting. Everything worked together beautifully. We chose to sit at the bar to watch the mixologists work their magic. They were incredibly helpful in guiding us toward drinks that matched our preferences. I absolutely loved my cocktail--even if I can't recall the name--because it delivered the spicy kick they promised. We also ordered several shareable plates, all of which were delicious. We tried the Carnitas Tamales (shredded pork, ancho mole, fresh corn, masa, cilantro, yuzu arbequina oil), the Vegetable Empanadas (house-made pastry, wilted kale, roasted sweet potato, Oaxaca and cotija cheese, black bean purée, and adobo & chile-lime aioli), and a salad. I'd happily order any of them again. I did find myself wishing for a bit more heat, but I've learned that's hard to come by in Tennessee. At least the staff gave us a heads-up that the spice level is toned down. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. The vibe is fantastic--and while they have a nice outdoor space, the interior is so eye-catching I'm not sure I'd want to sit anywhere else.

Tapas were good the carrots were by far the best roasted perfectly and the sauce was so flavorful. The crab dip was good but typical same with mushroom truffle pizza. The empanadas were good but a little dry I was glad they had sauce. Would go again and get the carrots and new items!

The service was good, and my friend and I both really enjoyed our cocktails and entrées--they were definitely the highlight of the meal. We weren't huge fans of the appetizers we tried, but we found out they're leaving the menu soon anyway, so that made sense. On a high note, the pistachio cream dessert was an absolute delight and the perfect way to end the night. Overall, a really lovely experience and I'd definitely go back!

I wasn't blown away and felt like the flavors were lackluster. The pasta was an alright red sauce, flavors could've been a bit more complex and boldly fresh. The Arancini tasted like a bland mushy hushpuppy in marinara. The best dish was the salmon, if I had to recommend anything! Super flaky with a crispy fish, paired nicely with the salad and potatoes. Service itself was good and the drinks were just okay. I like that they have many cocktail options to choose from, but my drink was honestly straight juice. As someone who's lightweight, I was shocked to find that the portions for drinks for the little amount of alcohol for $15 is a bit absurd (I got the st Richard ride). I'd only come once for the ambiance but it's pretty disappointing for what you pay. 6.5/10
