Near the end of my time I felt I was being rushed out by the person that just had started her shift. I have a couple minutes left and was actively still bowling when they were asking me to check out and I asked to finish my game, they made a passive comment and left. Dampened the overall experience. We came for a friend's birthday party. The food is just okay. The lanes are blocked off two at a time which is kind of nice so it gives you more of a secluded feel rather than sharing a party with the whole bowling alley. It's neat that is downtown, if the food was better might want to visit more often. As it is, it's just okay. There are closer bowling alleys to our house with better food. The pretzels and cheese are good, but they don't give you enough cheese so we had to order another side of cheese ($3 I believe) and by the time we got it, our pretzels were cold. They should just give you less pretzels or give you two small cups of cheese or a bigger bowl of it. The nachos were not great (I included a picture, the little bit of cheese you can see in the picture is literally all the cheese on them). The chips were hard (not crispy/crunchy hard, but stale hard). The stuff on top was not evenly dispersed and there wasn't much cheese on them either (not sure what's up with the lack of cheese here, but if you have to, just charge an extra $2-3 and give people more cheese). My husband liked the sandwich he got, and the kids liked the pretzels and cheese until the cheese ran out. The dessert pretzels were pretty good too. This place has potential. Maybe if they step up their food game it'll be 5 stars one day. read more

The Maple Hall is a very unique and fun experience, there is a lot of unique artistic details, like bowling lane tables and the exposed historic buildings brick. The staff was very friendly and helpful, immediately when we started bowling a waitress brought waters. The little efficient things like that make you feel valued as a customer, we didn't have any food so I can't comment on the food. The Maple Hall is a must when in Knoxville. read more

I liked it. Great for small private parties. You can rent your own lanes in a room off to the side. We went there after a conference. The servers were kind and fairly prompt. We mostly drank and bowled, so I am not able to weigh in on the food. It was a fun time! read more

Visit to the Downtown entertainment district of Knoxville Tenn. with friends, This place is sophisticated cool & fun, decor of original bricks from this old multi level JCPenny building. We were fortunate to have private section & lanes upstairs. We ordered 4 plates off the menu, all were top notch. The service was just right, not forgotten, but not overly rushed either. I loved maple hall when I visited! This bowling alley was classy, unique, and fun. I'd highly recommend going here if you're in the mood to bowl in Knoxville. I went here on a Thursday around 8pm. We had originally wanted to go on a Wednesday but the whole alley was closed for a private event... it wasn't super busy (there were a few empty lanes on either side of us). Our server still checked on us regularly during our time there, which was nice. Drinks prices were pretty reasonable here and it was ~$36 for 2 people. read more

Maple Hall is a really unique concept that blends bowling with a cool urban restaurant. It's a fusion of sorts. This isn't a typical bowling alley. Set inside a historic building on Gay Street (our main street in downtown Knoxville), Maple Hall retains the old exposed brick and loft-like finish. But, despite the old, its also pretty flashy and modern. They have brand new lanes with fancy touchscreen controls. Also, very clean, mid-century style furnishings and sleek style throughout. Simple put -- It's beautiful inside. I can't think of many bowling alleys where I'd actually consider eating a meal. But, Maple Hall is on that level. They have some very good options on the menu and the servers are as attentive as any restaurant. It's super easy to reserve a lane too. They even text you when it's ready if there's a wait. Aside from the bowling area, Maple Hall has some very nice dining and meeting areas. This would be a great place for a party or event. Overall: Great! Wonderful option for bowling or food. I was here a month ago for a yelp! event and really enjoyed it. I've been wanting to come back and finally did. This is such a cool space. The bowling area is awesome -- love the exposed brick, the layout of the lanes, the sofas, etc. The dining and lounge area is cool. The little upstairs bar might just become my favorite little hideaway haunt downtown. It was pushing 10:30pm when we popped in on a Saturday night. We grabbed spots at the end of the bar and settled in. The bartender was super cool, took great care of us. My family and I are in town for vacation and decided to visit this place for a fun Tuesday evening out. After driving all the way downtown and paying for parking, with nothing posted online on their Facebook page at all as notice, we arrived only to be casually told that the establishment was closed for a private event. An apology of some sort may have made up for this somewhat, but there was absolutely no effort made. The good reviews are not deserved for an establishment that treats potential customers this way. We're in town for several more days but without question we will not be returning here, and will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

No creepy basement vibes here. This is one basement that I would love to hunker down in. They've made such a cool atmosphere with soft lighting, modern graphics and furniture, unique food and drinks, friendly/attentive staff, and of course you can get your bowl-on. Since we were on a rare date night and trying to fit in ALL.THE.THINGS. before relieving our babysitter, we only did an hour of bowling. However, we were able to fit in two full games as well as two shorter (5 frame, single-turn) games. That was one thing we both loved...the system allows you to choose from different types of games, if you so desire, with different screen graphics and goals. Neither of us are joining the PBA anytime soon with our under 100 scores (DOH!) but we sure did have a blast. It helps that the staff kept our booze glasses filled. ;-) It was pretty warm down there, so the Frose' was perfect and refreshing. My husband was happy to have his Angel's Envy bourbon available. Great time was had. We can't wait to come back with friends or even our kids. It is the type of place that could be great for dates or family/friend fun. read more

Super cool downstairs bowling alley. The acoustics are loud so it can be hard to talk to your friends without yelling but I love all the exposed brick. They have better than average bowling alley food and a full bar. The drink service was pretty bad and it took forever to even get water so I'm not sure I'd get any drinks from here after today but definitely a fun vibe read more

What a cool spot by the square! 5/5 experience! I have went with my family as well as colleagues and have had a good time each and every time. The staff is always nice and accomodating from the front greeter all the way to the folks working on the lane equipment (when something gets stuck). The private lanes in the back are great for work and party events for about 10-12. Any more than that will leave some folks on the furniture and some in the lower area, which makes it tough to mingle about. Do make sure to plan ahead and either call in or go by early to see about times. Not a good idea to show up on busy evenings and think you'll just walk in and have a lane. read more

OK, I didn't bowl and didn't have a full meal but am reviewing based on the environment, the prices and service. First, it's a really nice space- lots of side rooms, open and very nice vibes. Bar in the center, tables around, 10 or 12 lanes in front, and group areas here and there. Comfortable, warm scene. Prices were reasonable for beer, craft cocktails and side dishes- I had two tasty craft cocktails and some kettle chips to snack on, all for just $23. Menu had burgers and other sandwiches, with good variety. I'll admit I sat a few minutes before approached by the bartender, even though I was the only person there at first. A small group came in after me and they got attention first. But when the young lady did come over to me she was pretty friendly and all food and drinks came at a good pace then. Where do I even start?? Maple Hall was the best bowling alley I've ever been to. It was so clean! And I don't think I've ever used the word clean to describe a bowling alley! The upstairs lounge was unfortunately closed when we got there and I didn't order any food but I hope to be able to do both next time! My family an I stopped by after a dinner downtown and grabbed some drinks at the bar and waited for a lane. The staff was so accommodating and nice. We were the last group to go that night and they gave us extra time at the end so we could finish. My parents and I haven't had that much fun in a long time! Walking into this place was such a fun surprise! Walking down to the stairs you're greeted with the smell of cedar and the lights down low. Which creates such a fun vibe for a bowling alley. The bar has amazing cocktail options that are executed well. We also got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was great! Good food and drinks is not usually a staple at a bowling alley but this place elevates with their nice menu! My only complaint is our server hated her life. She would walk up to our area and just stand there in silence and look at us. And if we didn't specifically flag her down, she would walk away. She said maybe 2 words to us the whole 2 hours we were there. I even had to go get my own drink from the bar once and find someone else to pay when I was trying to leave. What an awesome spot for bowling, drinks, and food! We were able to have our own private two lanes and I just loved the ambience of this bowling alley! We just ordered appetizers of fried pickles, a charcuterie plate, and pretzel bites with cheese. All were so yummy! Our waiter was very attentive as well. Awesome bougie bowling alley in the Knoxville underground! We hosted my sister's surprise birthday party here last month in the private party area you can rent at Maple Hall. This area has a lounge area with a couch and two sofa chairs, a high counter where the catering was set up with four bar stools, plus two couches and a coffee table in front of the two bowling lanes in the room. We ordered a variety of items from the Maple Hall catering. Everything was great but the fried pickles and mac & cheese where the big hits of the evening. We had a server assigned to our party, and we also could go right over to the bar to get drinks as needed. This was a great experience with great service and a really fun venue for our party. The alleys are very nice with a cool tech system for entering the names and even taking a photo of each player in your party. I can't wait to come back soon! read more

I came here for a private event on the second floor. From the outside to the inside I was impressed with the super coolness factor of the bar/bowling alley. Location is downtown Knoxville. Parking off street by meter. They enforce meters, a friend got a $11 ticket. The exterior is light brick in an old building. A beautiful circular glass window is in front. Upon entering a hostess was upfront. The joint has two levels. A bar and bowling alleys downstairs and a private event room with bar and TV upstairs. Maple Hall is the Top Golf of Bowling. Plush couches and bar service to your seat. I did not partake in a game. But it looked really cool. There are a few private areas and even one alley that is private. The staff was friendly and service was prompt when ordering a beer and a quesadilla at the event. The food came to the table within 15 minutes and was hot. The appetizer was delicious and filling. Such a cool place! Drinks, watching sports at the bar or bowling, you're going to have fun! I've heard about Maple but had never been. Brought my daughter, nieces and one of their friends while we were in town. Love the decor and set up. One of my friends commented on one of my pics that it looked like we were in a bowling alley in an upscale mansion. Exactly how I would describe it, but we were in downtown Knoxville, in the basement of a building and you would have never have guessed it. Bowling was great fun. $20 per person, per hour. Kinda on the expensive side but worth it. They do expect you to tip on the bowling. Weird but okay. We ordered some appetizers, loaded fries were amazing! Fried pickles were good.
