We tried Raven for the first time tonight, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. First, Madison was an absolute gem. She was attentive without hovering, had great recommendations, and made our first visit even better. We started with cocktails, and I couldn't decide between the Clover Club and the Crimson Mirage. I'm so glad we tried both! The Crimson Mirage was beautiful, served in a dainty glass with a flower petal sugar rim, but the Clover Club stole the show with its silky egg white foam. We also ordered the focaccia bread and made the best decision of the night by saving a few pieces to dip into the spicy lobster bisque. Do not skip the bisque! It may be a small portion, but it's packed with flavor. And despite the name, it wasn't very spicy at all. I don't handle much heat, and it was perfectly mild. For dinner, we shared the surf and turf with lobster. Everything was excellent. I got to try the filet cooked medium-rare with the rich demi-glace, along with the mashed potatoes and asparagus, which were cooked perfectly. We also ordered the baked potato, and it's definitely large enough to share. Pro tip: use the leftover butter from the focaccia with the potato--it was delicious! We wanted dessert, but we were simply too full. That just gives us another reason to come back. We also learned they have a happy hour at the bar, which is now on our list. The atmosphere was one of our favorite parts. It's dark, cozy, and has a sophisticated lounge vibe. Watching the bartender enthusiastically shaking cocktails added to the experience, and we appreciated that there seems to be both a lively bar area and a more traditional dining room. My husband is an entertainment/f&b/hospitality exec in Miami. We are setting up retirement in Knoxville. We know good restaurants and can hang with a crowd. We started very early this evening 6/22 at Raven with res in the lounge for two. Two couples at the bar and no tables taken when we arrived. We were seated at the absolute worst table in the lounge, looking at the curtains and only 1/4 view of bar. We asked to move 4 ft over to the corner booth to see into the room. We remained the only table occupied for 50 min...why did they choose to shut us out in the corner? Cocktails, wine, split the wedge salad, excellent. Waygu burger great, but our Coral Gables neighborhood Ruth's Chris NY Strip is better. When our waitress asked if we wanted dessert we said no...our waitress, who had been lovely, said she wasn't surprised and it was 'impressive' how much we ate...she was saying we ate a lot? one app/2 entrees? Still pretty formal, but more desirable for us versus formal dining. 4. We had 6 different cocktails and all were great. 5. Food wise, we started with deviled eggs, then a wedge salad, finishing with the Surf/Turf. All were great. I personally didn't love the relish on the deviled eggs (sweet), but it worked. 6. If I have any constructive feedback, I'd ask the manager, Brad, to stop pacing through the lounge. During our 1.5 hours there, he walked through the lounge in front of our table, at least 20 times and it became a detractor for us. Occasionally we'd see him seat a customer instead of the hostess, but otherwise, not sure he was actually adding any value with pacing. The places that truly stand out are the ones that understand hospitality at a higher level (true attention to detail), professionalism, and how they handle the moments that don't go perfectly. I have frequented this restaurant regularly with friends and clients and have always had great experiences, which honestly made last night stand out even more. Without getting into specifics, an issue came up during dinner. What impressed me was that before we even had the opportunity to mention it, Madison (our rock star waitress) had already noticed it from across the room. She approached the table discreetly, acknowledged what she observed in a professional way, immediately involved management, and the situation was addressed promptly and respectfully. That is the difference between a place that is simply "nice" and a true 5-star experience. Anyone can deliver good food on a good night. Real customer service is measured by awareness, urgency, discretion, and how a team responds when something is off. Madison's attention to detail and the way the staff handled the situation reinforced exactly why I will continue coming back with friends and clients. Mistakes happen everywhere. Although I miss the former place it was exciting to get out and try the new refresh of this venue with the new brand around Raven. Overall the inside looked amazing - down to the lighting and paint all coming together to bring a calm and mysterious vibe in the room. The food itself was absolutely amazing - with the standouts being the deviled eggs for the app, spicy lobster bisque for 2nd course, and the twin lobster tails for the main. The mashed potatoes were a great side as well. The dessert was pretty amazing and a very rich chocolate cake! Beverages were fun as well. The points of feedback here are: 1) reservations. we booked through resy, with the choice of lounge or dining area. we picked this well over a week in advance and were still given the lounge in spite of picking the dining area. When we tried to address this with the staff it was pretty much a "that's too bad, it's full, go look", to which after that the manager came to smooth it over with making the apps free. Which, is fine for a one-off, but please fix this and honor it (or remove the choice altogether). 2) prices - some of the food items seemed to be equal or above to some of the more expensive places in knoxville (e.g. ruth's chris, flemings) if not above on a couple. Not sure if this is supply chain, tarrifs, etc. I just hope these price points for some of the meat-based mains are not a turnoff. again, everything was amazing, but just above what is normal for other venues. This is a great upscale establishment that has a dining area for reservations and a robust bar area for walk-ins. The caviar appetizer and the steaks are both amazing. The drinks are perfectly crafted and the staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. Great spot! We heard from friends that they had an outstanding experience and ours was the same. The food was exceptional! Beef Wellington, which you don't really see in East TN, was very tasty and prepared to perfection. I will crave the Pork Belly Appetizer! The Sea Bass was amazing! Ok, 3 stars means a place is OK. I think there is grade inflation in these reviews; people think 3 stars is terrible. So I'm saying this place is OK-- in some ways great-- but my overall impression after a VERY expensive meal is simply that it's OK. I am sure I will go back at some time, but I am also sure that everyone in our party of five, the next time we are looking for a high-end restaurant experience, will choose other places. I can buy that it was a Sunday night; maybe they expected fewer people and so had fewer or different workers. I kind of think their chef was a sub or backup, because almost all of us who had steaks found them overcooked. A rare came out medium at least; my medium rare was also medium or perhaps medium well. This is just ot acceptable when you are paying prices for premium steaks. That's the biggest issue. But, service was kind of funky. Very long waits between getting drinks and being asked if we wanted to order, very long wait for the entrees, entrees came out over a 2-3 minute period, leaving some of us (the guest of honor!) waiting for her entree. There were plenty of waiters, and I liked that they all worked on various tables (instead of one waiter/one table). But somehow it means getting lots of things or questions twice....with one person bringing something and another bringing a second of that same thing a few minutes later. What was good or even great as it should be? The appetizers/small plates that we had (pork belly, crab cakes and deviled eggs) were all tasty. Crab cakes some of the best around here--- the person in our group who loves crab cakes will probably order them as an entree if we visit again. The pork got raves as did the scallops, but as I stated, all 3 of us who ordered steaks were disappointed (with the beef Wellington getting better marks than the filet and other steak-- I forgot if it was the ribeye or NY strip). Desserts were excellent and the mixed drinks I had were ery good- both the pre-dinner and post-dinner drinks. I didn't notice if they had coffee (espresso etc.). A good steakhouse place should, I believe. So-- nothing BAD here. But at this price point, you expect EXCELLENCE in steaks, not being overcooked, and you expect really top-notch service. We didn't really feel we got either. I hope they make it in this little town, but they'd better step up their game to do so. Sorry I did not take pics! read more

First let me say that my rating is probably a 4+, but not a five. The Raven IS recommended. So, Raven is a legitimate Steakhouse in Maryville, which is a big plus for me to have something of this caliber close to home. It is pricey, however, as a true steakhouse is - so look at the menu in advance and know you are in for a larger bill. The ambiance is nice - they did a good job building out the space - decorations are quality and the space is relaxing and appropriate. Service was outstanding. Our server was nice, just the right amount of attentive, and knowledgeable about the food and beverage offerings The food: the rosemary focaccia bread was fresh, soft and delish. The martinis were nice, although a little heavy on the vermouth. The wine list is good and not unnecessarily overly extensive. The oysters were exceptional. We both had soup: the lobster bisque was superb although I personally dont like the rubbery tips of the claws . The Onion soup was solid. We had the flat iron steak and the rib eye. Both were cooked a perfect medium rare - they were well seasoned and the melted butter on top was a good touch. The offering of 5 sauces was fun. Actually, the flat iron was better than the rib eye, not to take anything away from it. Considering it was half the price, the Flat Iron is a value for you to consider. We split a side of roasted brussel sprouts done just the way I like them - any more salt would've been bad. No dessert for us Portions were appropriate. Raven for dinner was a wonderful night out. We are fans of Bella and enjoyed Diamond Jacks so we were anxious to see what Raven would be. Raven is great and Maryville finally has a cool adult restaurant. We had reservations, hostess was friendly and we were seated in dining area after walking through the bar/lounge area. Bar is dim and closed off, had sports on a big screen, glad it didn't interfere with dinner. Main dining room is beautiful, dark warm colors and interesting lighting make a welcoming comfortable vibe. Our waitress, Penny, was outstanding, answered questions and was on top of everything. Aileen(spelling?) was also outstanding. Before ordering food, we had two cocktails. Obsidian something or other. I wish I remembered the name better for this review because they were delicious and came with a large clear single ice cube. Great start. With dinner a bottle of Pol Roger brut NV paired well. We started with deviled eggs, crab cakes and lobster bisque. Eggs and crab cakes were perfect. The eggs were small which made each a neat two bite snack and the crab cakes were exactly what I want, all meat, no filler, great flavor. Lobster bisque was delicious with a little more spice than typical bisque but a bit thin. The bisque and Crab cakes, both beautifully plated. Entres were Sea Bass and Jumbo Scallops. We shared a side of Lobster Mac and Cheese. The Sea Bass was the winner of the night, perfectly cooked with a great crisp crust and stunning on the plate. The scallops, while delicious were a bit small and the black rice was watery - small complaints but noticeable compared to how good the rest of the meal was. Lobster Mac and Cheese was pretty much what you'd expect, tasty but don't know that I'd get it again. Desert was Bananas Foster and Chocolate cake. Bananas Foster were delicious. No table side flambe presentation but still good. The chocolate cake was one of those very dense fudge multi layered types you find at chain restaurants. It was good but not nearly as refined as the rest of the meal and not what I expected after such a well executed dinner. We have been here before but we came back, this time for a early Christmas date and it just solidified why we love this place, I believe our servers name was Lori and we love her she's so sweet and has such a touch for attention to detail and very fun personal service. We ordered a Caesar salad and it was delicious. Then our main course, We ordered the center cut filet with carrots and mushrooms and it was melt in your mouth yummy. While eating we just kept commenting that each bite was so delicious and this might be our favorite place. Unfortunately, I cannot rate our visit as 5 star. Reception and greeting and getting us seated was fine. Party of four on a Friday night before Mother's Day. House was about 80% full so not jammed Reviewed bar and food menu. I am used to big city menus and related prices but found these both higher than normal. I've been to the best around the world and both entree and wine prices were at the top. Okay if you price like the big boys you better deliver. We enjoyed a nice bottle of reasonably priced Pinot Noir from Oregon and it did not disappoint. Now to food Three of us had the surf and turf and one had a steak. After a long wait our entrees were served. The were luke warm at best and cold by the time finished. To be fair floor manager stopped by table and offered to send them back to be reheated. We were do hungry we dr lined. Food was properly cooked and reheating g would have made them hotter but not cooked as ordered. So, summation. Over priced and undelivered! Might try again but failed on first try and paid a big price. Sorry but you are not there yet. I think wait staff did not see e when ready and thus the 3.5 rating. So, we are very particular on the few occasions we go out to dinner. First, the owners have transformed this previous sterile dining establishment, into a cozy, comfortable lounge/dining room & bar area. After seating, we were promptly welcomed by our waiter Foster. His service was outstanding throughout the entire meal. It was nice to have others wandering by our table, noticing a dirty dish, pick it up! So I ordered he onion soup and my wife the deviled eggs for starters. Both outstanding! For main course, she ordered the filet and I ordered the ribeye and our sides were Brussels and Frites. The food is really expensive. A filet cost 100.00. It's a 6oz filet as well. It was a good steak but rather pricey. Everything is priced separately so it gets really pricey if you have a mixed drink an appetizer, a salad, and a vegetable with your steak. Then if you get desert it will knock a hole in your pocket. The sauces they have with the steak is different but good. The service was pretty good so if you go have lots of cash or clout. read more
