I am a little late on this review, but better late than never. I made a reservation here for my boyfriends birthday back on 02/16/2026. I looked high and low for a place that serves 'Nduja (spreadable salami) in Knoxville/ surrounding areas, and Amici is where I found it. It isn't something that you can find easily here, so I was excited to take him here, knowing he would be excited. We had a corner table, I sat on the booth side, which i'm 5'5, but the booth is a bit tall, so I couldn't place my feet on the floor. It honestly didn't bother me, there were pillows to prop for the bench seating and I was fine. We started with an appetizer (which I really wanted to try) the Arancini. Just WOW, they were big in size, and absolutely mouthwatering, flavorful and delectable. They were perfectly fried, were crisp, just the right hotness, and the pomodoro could be eaten by the spoonful. Honestly everything was great, but that appetizer still has me thinking about it. I ordered the Fig and Prosciutto pizza on sourdough and my boyfriend ordered a Four Cheese with 'Nduja. My pizza was good, sweet, salty and savory. He enjoyed his 'Nduja, but it was a bit different consistency that he was used to. They did say they made it in house which was nice for authenticity. For his birthday we ordered the Zeppole (its like a fried donut with a lemon glaze) - not my forte personally, because if it's not chocolate it isn't worth the calories- but it's not my birthday, hah. I've updated many times, but that should happen as a restaurant grows, expands offerings and remains top-notch. Today I'm just here to point out that they have recently added a lunch menu. A few great sandwiches (we tried 3, loved all), a flatbread, a few salads. We got our sandwiches take-out, but I noticed they offer a "combo" with chips and soda for onlyi $3, and I'd think that's a good bargain for a nice lunch there. The prices are very solid. The sandwiches are not as big and full as their (higher-priced) competitor, but they are VERY tasty. So happy to have this new alternative! Love this place!! read more

After having spent three weeks in Italy during the summer of 2024, I will tell you that this is a very close second. Be sure that you ask for the sourdough crust and also make sure that you get the olives as a side (and if I might also suggest the Barrada). Everything was scrumptious, but I forgot to take pictures. Very popular spot as nearly every table was occupied on a Friday night with reservations. The arancini app was flavorful and the pastas were fresh, good portions and tasty. The service however was rather slow. Didn't get our wine until after the app arrived and had to flag someone down for any requests. Casual setting. I saw that this restaurant wasn't far from our hotel and my colleague didnt wanna drive into Knoxville, so we ended up here. The hostess, who ended up also being our waitress, seated us right away. She indicated everything is made in-house and locally sourced. After looking at the menu, which seemed a bit small, I decided to go with the beef gnocchi. Our waitress was a bit quirky and slow to fill up our iced tea which we both drank pretty quickly. She kept repeating everything we said to make sure she understood which is great in theory but becomes annoying in reality. The garlic roll appetizer is really nothing special and between my colleague and I we only ate 3 of the 4 rolls. However. I noted other reviewers seem to go crazy over it. Compared to a local Italian restaurant back home which has awesome garlic knots, this dish was a disappointment. The gnocchi, which we both ordered, was pretty good even though it's a new menu item. The menu indicates it has horseradish, which would have given it some pop; however, it was not even noticeable. We both felt if you're gonna advertise it on the menu, customers should be able to either see or taste it in the dish. I added a chocolate ricotta cake for dessert, which I really shouldn't have, but ordered anyway. While the cake was pretty good, the chocolate sauce that it comes with was not as good as the one I had eaten two nights before in Cincinnati. This one is a bit bitter. The ricotta was also a mini mystery. In addition, the menu indicates there is a cream cheese icing. However, there is no icing, just a dusting of powdered sugar on the cake. It turns out the ricotta is cooked into the cake, as well as added into the cream cheese filling. Both of which are not really noticeable as far as look or taste. Overall, the place is small and reservations are always a good idea for restaurants this size, but I was just expecting more. read more

I've been living in South Knox almost 2yrs. Hubby and I constantly drive past this restaurant while enroute to Maryville as a shortcut. This past week during a rainy cool night, we decided to stop in for pizza and wine. We met John at the hostess stand whom allowed us to sit wherever we chose. So we picked the perfect high top table for two near the bar with a view of the entire restaurant. John was doing triple duty that night, he was also serving along with bartending. Thank goodness the place wasn't too busy, so with all of John's duties, his service was professional and prompt. Good job John and thank you for all you do! We ordered wine, side salads, and a mushroom/sausage pizza which was great. However, dessert was amazing!!! Do NOT pass up the Goat cheesecake with luxardo cherries on pistachio/graham cracker crust. Wow! What a hidden gem in Maryville! This place is so good we ran into some friends from Farragut who said they drive to Amici every time they want "awesome Italian." My favorite thing about the place is the vibe - feels elevated without being obnoxious or loud. You can dress fancy and go on a date or wear your athleisure wear - they won't judge. The place felt intimate without being too small and large enough it's not a "home in the wall." Our whole family was satisfied and the pizzas were amazing. The only thing that ever kept us from going are the hours ... they are only opened at night so when I would drive past during the days, I just thought they were closed - boy was I wrong and so happy to drive by one night when I also happened to be hungry! This place is truly a hidden gem. A little far from Knoxville but worth to come for sure. Came with colleagues on a Wednesday after work, and got mind blown by the food. The ambience is really good for any gathering. Not too many parking spots outside though. We got the garlic rolls with different flavor. Both made us drooling as soon as the lady brought them to the table, and it's gigantic. Chicken wings and burrata salad are great appetizer options. Then after waiting patiently, the pizza I ordered came. The freshness straight-out-of-the-oven is so good. My friends' pastas are so yummy too and we had to share. Most importantly, save some space for the goat cheese cake, which is mind blown. You'll not regret if you get it. read more

OK... have to say it was a disappointment! Took my Mom to dinner Sunday for Mother's Day. Service was slow and being such a small space quite noisy. Split Chicken Parm and Kale Salad. Salad was lackluster... dressing had little flavor and I had to ask for extra. The Chicken Parm was very good. It had been awhile since I had dined here, but I didn't remember only 6 dinner entrees being offered. One was actually not available. Pizza took up the whole right side of the menu and there was a brisk takeout Business going on that seemed to get a lot of attention... sorry but think I'll try other options next time. OMG! We stopped in here for pizza after seeing excellent reviews. This is undoubtedly the best pizza we have had outside of Chicago in five years since moving to East Tennessee. We ordered the Supremo on the original dough. The toppings were delicious and generous. The pizza was the perfect size for two. Our server, Cory, was very informative and friendly. I always love Amici, I feel like it's a special night when I go there, even though the atmosphere is relaxed. I had one of the best dinners in quite some time last weekend at Amici. My friend and I started with a bottle of wine and the Arancini appetizer. Soooo good! The plate arrived with 3 giant mozzarella cheese balls, delicately covered in bread crumbs, filled with chicken and jalapeño strips, then baked and served over pomodoro sauce. They were delicious and the perfect start to our meal. For entrees, I had the Mushroom Agnolotti. Hand-made pasta, filled with mushrooms & cheese, in a sauce that was so light yet rich, with a tiny hint of lemon. It was also topped with a bit of corn & parmesan. My friend had the Chicken Parmesan and said it was delicious as well. The only regret was that the chicken parm red sauce was similar to the red sauce of the appetizer, so they wished they'd had more of a change-up between appetizer and entree. Service was great - our server was very friendly and helpful. Note - be sure to have a reservation! When we arrived, the restaurant was already pretty full, including a good number of people eating at the bar. I've added this to my short list of favorite restaurants in the Knoxville area. If you're looking for some awesome pizza or pasta, look no further than Amici! Definitely recommend making a reservation. The establishment is fairly small and most of the patrons had reservations, including my family and I. They do have a very small open bar seating option. We started with the garlic rolls, which were pretty tasty. Their pasta is made fresh and cooked perfectly. The pizza had a nice balance of flavors and cooked to perfection. The only downside was our waitress was a bit of an airhead. She spent more time talking and flirting with the host and we had to walk up to the bar to have our drinks refilled. Updating a review from about a year ago. Pizza is still the best around town. However the prices have blown up. Two Amici salads cost us 26 dollars. so we had the two mentioned salads two small cheese pizzas a glass of iced tea and a glass of water. Total was 70 dollars. WTF! If they are going to charge that kind of money a least make us feel like we are in a high end restaurant. Staff dressed in t-shirts and jeans. Our waiter was very friendly and did a great job answering questions about the menu. We started off with the topped garlic rolls and they were delicious. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan and I decided to try the Chicken Rotolo, which was recommended by our waiter! Both entrées were great! We enjoyed a celebratory birthday meal on a Sunday evening at Amici. I called that day as soon as they opened at 5:00 for a 6:00 reservation for seven people. They were ready for us immediately. The dining room is not very big, and it was bustling, so I'd definitely recommend you call for a reservation. Our table enjoyed the garlic knots (really more like garlic yeast rolls) and smoked fish dip for the starter. The rolls were fine, but everyone really liked the fish dip. Entrees ordered were the shrimp and trout with risotto, chicken parmesan, smoked chicken alfredo, and pizzas. The risotto was....ok, although the fish and shrimp served on top were nicely prepared. The pizzas and other pasta dishes ordered were the favorites at the table. Oh and Sundays are half price bottle of wine night! that was a score! It looks like a cute pop up not too loud with modern decor. There are more than enough servers but for some reason everything takes longer than usual. The craft style atmosphere is okay and the drink menu is huge but the food options are pretty limited. The four cheese aranchini is basically a giant mozzarella stick in a fried ball form which is good with some parsley sprinkled in the cheese. The pizza dough is offered as a thin crust or sourdough but it's a cornmeal dough... same for both options and there isn't much flavor there. I don't know if the pizza sauce is homemade but the flavor is lacking there too. We got the mushroom pancetta and margarita. It the margarita description says local tomatos but I have never had a margarita with such large wedges of tomato. The crushed tomato sauce could use some more garlic some salt and maybe slivering the tomatos thinner and blistering would make them taste better. the kale Caesar salad could use some lemon and maybe some croutons instead of just crumbs and maybe some shaved Parmesan... the dressing was missing some of the creaminess maybe it didn't have egg or anchovies like a traditional Caesar. If you don't like kale definitely don't get that but if you ask for lemon for your water sprinkle some on the salad and it gives it a good pop of flavor. The mushroom pancetta pizza had a local mushroom- very aromatic and pungent. The pancetta was quality and had good flavor and the shallots with pecorino, truffle oil, fontina... the toppings had good flavor the crust could have had more flavor. My husband said he preferred those toppings on a dominoes crust ‍ Overall the staff is friendly enough; but when we sat down we got 1 menu to share; it took quite a bit of time before we were greeted for beverages and trying to get a box/check took 20-25 mins. It was quite empty maybe 2 other parties and 1 person dining at the bar so it wasn't busy but the staff could be seen in the kitchen socializing and we weren't in a big rush but with all that waiting even if we wanted dessert that time most definitely passed just waiting for so long. Unfortunately for that experience at that price it would be hard to say we would be back. Other reviewers mentioned A dopo and it doesn't even compare and most definitely worth the 15mins further drive. If you are looking for a closer to home comparable pizza keep looking. read more

I had high hopes for Amici, and I'm afraid they were a bit too high. The pizza was good, but it doesn't rival A Dopo in nearby Knoxville. They have an extensive selection of toppings, including some house-cured meats. The meatballs were excellent, and the arancini were worth ordering but not the best you'll ever have. They have an excellent wine and beer program, and their signature cocktails were creative and tempting, though I stayed with wine in the end. The pastas looked good, but we didn't try any this time. They are definitely more of the red sauce joint variety, not seafood pastas you might find in some Italian restaurants. We spoke with diners at an adjacent table, both of whom recommended the pasta dishes, which I will concede looked delicious. The dining room is not comfortable. The temperature was unnecessarily hot. Either the HVAC system is inadequate or they didn't have the temperature set to a comfortable level. The tables are those mid-high ones that leave your legs half dangling, and the chairs are hard and uncomfortable. They have a few throw pillows here and there, but they have seen their better days and aren't going to make the uncomfortable seats more comfortable. I might go back to try the pastas, but it definitely won't be in air conditioning season. We will see if my curiosity to try the pasta gets me past the uncomfortable seating. read more

My partner and I try to get to Amici whenever we visit Maryville, which means that we've had a few different visits, but are not regulars. They have a lovely rotating selection of beers, often from the area. IPAs, sours, you name it. The wine selection seems similarly solid. The pizzas are awesome -- the thin crust (which is all we've had) kicks butt. The menu options are great (I've enjoyed the fig and bacon as well as the butternut squash and bacon), and if you want to put together your own pizza, they have a generous set of interesting toppings (lemon peel!). The pastas also seem good, although perhaps a bit less reliable. When I had gnocchi, it was kind of swimming in sauce. The gnocchi were good, but the sauce seemed thin. The other entrees seem pretty solid though,and the Caesar salad was quite nice. Service was consistently friendly and prompt, and it's in a nicely put together little building. The on-line reservation system is a bit sketchy (just try to go back and make some changes!), but they were pretty responsive on the phone. It's good to take reservations but when you don't have enough tables to seat walk in customers that's not good. Their tables are very spread out, I assume they couldn't seat us due to COVID. Maybe get some more tables outside? We wanted to sit outside but people had already reserved the table. I hope all their reservations showed up because we were really hungry and got turned away. I cannot rate the food so I will just leave 2 stars since I have no clue as to how the food tastes since we could not try it. read more

I ordered a cheese pizza expecting a pizza for $20. I got a pizza that's as thin as a cracker and as big as his Totino's pizza definitely won't be ordering from here again you would have to order two of these to feed a grown man so $40 to feed somebody no way in hell. The only decent pizza in Maryville's Metro a little pricey but definitely decent other than that if somebody wants to open up a decent pizza joint around here they would make millions. read more

I have to say I was very disappointed in their food. It has been a long time since I've been there because the first time we went was when they were first open. The food was excellent and they had great trout dip but now they never have it and each visit has been a little bit worse each time. I'm going to attach some pictures so you can see. I ordered a blood orange cocktail which was excellent. The service was excellent. I cannot remember her name but she was a great waitress. I ordered a kale Caesar salad and it came out with bread crumbs on top. I asked for extra croutons and I wish the waitress would have told me they only had bread crumbs. Which were gross because the bread crumbs, when you stirred your salad became a mushy mess with the Caesar dress. She was very nice about taking the salad back and getting me a salad without bread crumbs. But they did not have croutons. Which is strange since they make focaccia bread all the time. I am attaching a picture of all the rotten pieces of kale I had to pick out of my salad. The pizza came and it looked excellent. It was supposed to be a Sicilian Pizza supreme. But instead of being pizza dough or focaccia dough made into a pizza it was focaccia bread that had already been baked and then later they put sauce and pizza toppings on it and then baked it in the oven. So you can see from the pictures the crust was really hard and overbaked and when I tapped it with my fork it poked holes in places and crumbled. Take a little drive out to Maryville and find another favorite destination of mine, AMICI. The food is incredible and if you are a pasta lover then you should really appreciate this place. All pastas are made in house, and man you can taste the difference. Chef Chris, I have followed around from Foothills Milling Co, to Emilia, and now thankfully Amici. His pasta making game is strong. The lamb Bolognese on the menu takes me back to a gnocchi dish he used to make at Foothills Milling Co that was incredible, and this dish is spot on! It is AMAZING. From appetizers, pastas, salads, and pizzas, any direction you choose will be delicious. The chicken Parmesan, the smoked chicken Alfredo, the lamb Bolognese, the pizzas, the house made burratas and gelatos, you honestly can't go wrong bc everything here is delicious!! Everything is made with love and you honestly can taste the love. So go check this place out as you won't be disappointed, located where the old Foothills Bakery was at, in the roundabout. But seriously that lamb Bolognese is sooo dang good!! Dine in, carry-out, or do curbside but make sure to support your locally owned restaurants. Great people + great food, once again for a win! Maybe my expectations were too high for this restaurant but lesson learned. I was impressed at the interior - the renovations were certainly an improvement over past the business in this little spot by the round-about in East Maryville. The food was average, not a place that I would want to take someone if I wanted to share a favorite meal. We ordered the garlic rolls, which came out in a small cast iron skillet and I was warned by the waiter to be careful as it was hot - it was barely warm and the rolls were actually just room temp, not even warm - nothing special there - I've made better at home. The rolls do not come with the meal - and were as expensive as all other items on their menu. The entrees were ordered were meatballs and a bolognese pasta dish - both were average, expectations not met. I ordered their cheesecake to go and was surprised to find the crust tasted as if it had salt in it not sure if they mixed salted nuts in with the graham cracker base or if someone used salt instead of sugar - first time I've ever thrown a dessert away - that's how bad it was. Oh and the "cream cheese" part of the cake lifted up off of the crust - never had that happen before either - all very odd. Will not be giving this place another try - especially not at over $100 for 2 people, no drinks or alcohol beverages, just average food and horrible dessert.
