The Italian decor brings this place together. It is located in a shopping center, but when you walk in you're transported to an entire new environment. They have murals on the walls, the open oven area, and is welcoming. The service, well it's not much of an interaction. You order at the counter, fill your own drinks, and they bring you your food. The staff are friendly though throughout your encounters with them. The pizza is delicious. We ordered the meatropolitan 16" and one slice was almost the size of our paper plate. First time ... was very unimpressed. Food/Drink: Pizza by the slice only thing that drew me in. Menu was limited, and topping were thrown on a plain slice and cooked with cheese on top. Pizza: Needed more crunch, left me wanting more of a bite. Not flavorful, super oily, sauce was a bit sweet. Dinning Area: Pretty large, open, area. Benches, large counter. Prices: Relatively cheap. 2 slice and fountain special for $7.99! Parking: Plenty of space, shared strip mall lot. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and regular size. Biggest calzone I've ever had, and definitely the most filled!!! When I ordered the calzone it said (for 2 people) so I figured it would be a decent size, but this thing is ginormous and heavy. I cut into it and there was so much cheese and peppperoni, I couldn't believe it. I got this massive, delicious calzone and a fountain drink, and it ended up being $20 or thereabouts. On the Jersey pizza scale it's a solid 6. It could have used about 3 to 5 mins longer in the oven for a crisper crust. . But that's a Jersey thing. It was good though. Stopped in for lunch. Very simple straightforward pizza place reminds me a of any pizza place in NY. I grabbed a few slices of pepperoni. Love a place that has pizza by the slice. So glad I tried this place for lunch today! Great pizza, price, and customer service!!! For less than $8, I got two generous slices and a soda. My choice of two different toppings per slice, so I ate my favorite (sausage/mushroom) and brought home a slice of my son's favorite (Hawaiian style) for him. Where else can you sit down in a quiet, clean indoor setting, and eat tasty food so cheaply? I'd say such places are few and far between these days. In a way, I feel bad giving only 4 stars, but that's what you get when you have to use the same system for a McDonald's and a haute-cuisine highly expensive French restaurant. For what it is-- a small pizza joint, it should get 4.5 stars. 5 stars if it had beer/wine and a more extensive menu. I'd gladly go back for a quick lunch or inexpensive snack. This place is in the same shopping center where the Wal-Mart is located. Definitely the best pizza I've found in Maryville/Alcoa area. I want to like this place so much more but I'm addicted to Gavinno's in Knoxville. Sorry Metro, not the NY style I was looking for. This is more of a Jersey style pizza place. I've had the cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, and the margherita pizza. Unfortunately all disappointed me. Maybe it was because people had built up expectations that were so high that they couldn't be met. I hate it when people do that. One thing that I have really enjoyed here is the Cheesesteak. That is totally worth ordering again. I will continue to try other things here I've just unfortunately had disappointing experiences. With that said the people who work here are always very nice and friendly so that makes up for something, right? The food (pizza) was decent. Unfortunately we had a really long wait for our pie. After 30 minutes of waiting and finishing our salad I thought I would go up to see where our food order was. We ordered the Metropolitan mid size. You know have have to have some for the next day. Well it appears that out ticket slipped and was mia on the floor. By that time I had told my husband that our order was lost. He stayed calm, not like him! But the manager or owner came to us and explained what the issue was and was extremely sorry for our wait. He offered to pay us back for our pizza and get it going right away. It still took a bit longer than promised, but the crowd was rolling in by that time. So overall the attention and gratitude for us and our patronage was genuinely appreciated. The toppings were excellent like a New York pie but I would of preferred a bit more of firmness along with the thin crust. read more

So, yesterday my wife and I were watching the local news show "Live at five at four" and on their cooking segment, they featured the owner and chef of Metro Pizza. He was preparing stuffed manicotti. He's been on the show a few times, and every time we watch his segments we say "we should try that place." So today (and because we were in the area) we stopped in. All the reviews were true! The pizza is authentic N.Y. style. Huge slices, perfect crust, and top notch flavor. I knew the minute we walked in that it was going to be good. The odor of yeasty dough said it all. And my wife's lasagna was also excellent. It's not a fancy place. But who cares if the food rocks? It was packed, and because we were sitting close to the area where they take your order, I could tell by the conversations that most of the clientele were regulars. And on top of that, the owners wife was really friendly and helpful to say the least. So, if you like italian food, great NY style pizza, and friendly service, then you need to check this place out. My go to pizza place has always been Dazzo's on Gay street as well as Gavino's in West Knoxville (and that won't change, they're both very good) but now my wife and I have a 3rd go to! If you're in the area, be sure to check Metro out. And they also have alcohol. I'd read in a review that they didn't sell beer. Not true! Go there now.. read more

I cannot begin to say how wonderful this place is. First and foremost, the staff and who I assume is the owner couldn't be nicer. It is true southern down home family service. The pizza, well, you couldn't find better in this area or any area to be honest. I ordered a 16" with extra cheese, pineapple and mushrooms. My wife got a 12" with no red sauce. She got garlic butter, pepperoni, mushrooms and black olives. These were by far the best we'd had so far. If you haven't been here, you should. They even have little cute napkins. read more

Fast service. Good pizza. Would not call it great, but very good. I won't go searching this place out, but I certainly will drop in if I find myself here. I can see where some of the other reviewers were mentioning cleanliness. I got here before 11:30, so before the lunch rush and the floor could definitely already use a once over, as well as some grime one the "sides" of things that wouldnt get wiped daily (glass trim, trash cans, high chairs). But the cooking area looked fine. All in all a worthwhile visit. read more
