Came in on a Tuesday around 11:30 am after running an errand at Home Depot next door. There were several people dining in the good-sized space. I went up to the counter, which still had up plexiglass and masked workers (March 2022). Unfortunately, I can't say that the worker was friendly or patient as I quickly looked at the menu and chose: General Tso's Chicken lunch and crab rangoons to go. My order was ready within five minutes, which was probably the best part of my experience. I could see the chef whipping up my meal in the kitchen and he was working hard. The order was well-packaged, too. The food itself was pretty disappointing. Chicken-Dry, chewy, and the sauce was tasty but had no kick. I was also bummed to only have three broccoli in the order. The lunch special came with fried rice, an egg roll, and soup. The fried rice is white rice with a splash of soy sauce and corn in it. The egg roll was small and crisp and was more like a fried wonton with minced pork and no other seasonings or fillings like cabbage. No soup came with a to-go order, as an FYI. Rangoons-Tiny dollop of cream cheese in center of a lot of oily, very chewy wonton. Huge sweet and sour sauce came with it, though! These rangoons were extremely expensive-almost as much as the entree itself and were unfortunately, not worth the cost. I will try any place twice (within reason), but I won't be in a rush to retry this spot since the service nor the food were very good, sadly. We used to order from here and pick it up a lot! Then they started having problems getting our order correct. [Kind of too late if you use Door Dash.] Tried it again last night. The prices have about doubled and the serving sizes have been cut about in half. [Raising the price about, what 400%??] The food used to be very good but now it was mediocre at best. The entre listed a protein and your choice of rice [or chow mein noodles]. It also said you got hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, or a spring roll. You don't get to pick one - they do... My wife had rice which came old and crunchy. My entree was very bland. With the number of options for Chinese food nearby we won't try them again as the food is better and cheaper elsewhere. It's been a very long time since I gave a restaurant a one star review, but I need to for this restaurant. The service was just about non-existent, just the absolute bare minimum and maybe 7 words were spoken by the waitress. The food was absolutely awful. The steamed rice smelled and tasted old. I got the lunch special of cashew shrimp. According to the menu, it comes with white or fried rice, and egg drop soup or hot/sour soup or an eggroll. I ordered the lunch cashew chicken and white rice. Before I could mention the soup, she walked away. Later, when my meal came, she plopped down an eggroll and said, "comes with," and hurried away. The cashew shrimp contained 5 shrimp, and 90% chopped celery. The rest was water chestnut and a few slivers of carrot, followed by cashews. I had also ordered crab rangoon, which seemed to be quite popular with people ordering to-go. The sauce was the typical dipping sauce you find at any Asian restaurant. The innards were very loose and barely any hint of crab. The exterior was only crispy on the very edges, with the rest having the texture of dough that was put into oil that was too cold for a good fry. The restaurant had the feel of a diner and it was pretty cold inside. I do think this was perhaps my worst Asian food meal ever. I guess the shrimp were well cooked, so that's where the 1 star will go. read more

I am giving this 5 stars because myself and family have had MANY different dishes at this restaurant, eating here 3+ times a month spending over $75 each time, and each one has been terrific. You aren't going to plunk that down repeatedly if the food isn't amazing and the portions generous. The person who is at the register (and I am guessing answering the phone) needs to get a clue with customer service. She is rude... rude... did I meantion rude? I want to mark the stars to 1 for that, but the food is so great, and VERY FAIRLY PRICED for how much you get that I cannot ding the whole place for 1 person being rude. read more

The chicken on my husband chicken fried rice was a lot of skin of the chicken not anything I would ever use or eat I got hibachi chicken and veggies little squares of chicken so dried out could not eat. It couldn't chew it up we haven't been in a time long time We sort of forgot why we hadn't been back. I had the szechuan beef and my wife had the chicken and vegetables. Hers was more like a couple of pieces of chicken and a head of cabbage. The beef was ok, but, I was expecting sauce and not gravy. The only negative part was the incredibly unpleasant girl who answered the phone and rang up my order. She seriously couldn't have been more unpleasant is she tried. The young waitress should brush up her customer service skills. Looks like she was in traing without a mentor. The food was pretty good until the PAD THAI arrived. It was very soupy so I poured most of the liquid sauce off into another plate, however the flavor was not good to me. I told the waitress that I didn't like it and she said it was not the standard Chinese PAD THAI and that the type of noodles used will soak up the juice. That did not make no sense. She walk away to the kitchen, thinking she's telling the cook and meanwhile, I grab the menu to pick another entre, however, she never came back. A few minutes later, another person dropped off the bill for payment and I told her I did like the entre as she could clearly see I did not eat it. A few minutes later, the older waitress comes back to pickup payment to cash me out.. At this point I'm annoyed that my complaint is being ignored and I didn't order anotherentre. Waitress comes back with the meal charged to my card, and I ask "why you didn't take off the entre"?. She proceeds to the kitchen and all I hear is the cook and both waitresses speaking in their language very loud as if the were arguing. The cook comes out and says he will take $5 off the bill but could not give full credit since he cooked the food. I expressed that that waitress should have shared with me that the entre was not the traditional made meal, especially if they had complaints in the past as the waitress stated earlier. The fact she went and hid in the kitchen and never came back to discuss options for me to order another entre. She didn't give me a chance to order something else for I only had soup and spring rolls. This was my first dining experience for my son had recommended this place due to his Door Dash experience a few weeks ago. I ended up paying full price. I gave this place 2 star not because of the food but of the service. The food was really good... I would rate it 4 stars. However, the service was very poor. I placed a carry out order and when I went in to pick it up. The employee was hopping around doing it all. When she waited on me, I asked her if it came with a sauce. She asked," extra sauce?" And when I tried to answer her she walked away to wait on a person who came in to dine in. When she came back she asked me again, and when I tried to reply (mind you I could barely get 2 words out) her personal phone rang and she picked up and had a 3 minute conversation. Then, she asked me a third time if I needed extra sauce while ringing up both orders on one ticket. When I told her that they needed to be rung up separate, she became annoyed. I told her that I was just wanting to know if the dish came with a sauce and if it did what type of sauce was it. Upon entering Chopsticks, it was my intention to do take out. I had a calm, reasonable, & cool demeanor throughout my experience & I made a point to keep calm & polite. After asking if entrees included egg drop soup one time, the young lady's response was, "no that is not possible." (She was not attempting to be mean, however how & what she delivered her response appeared to be rude) At this point I decided to dine in instead, to see how many "no that is not possible's" I would get. I got three. When I ask questions, i know I will not always get the answer I want to hear, and that is ok. However, there are better ways to handle my questions. Like, "I am sorry but we do not have ______, have you considered this?" I have several years of experience in the hospitality and customer service occupations. One must politely acknowledge the question, express empathy, and offer an alternative. Before asking for the check, I wanted to test her one more time with a question to see what answer I would get. Her response was different this time. She acknowledged my question & expressed empathy. I was going to give the restaurant 2 stars, but she gave the right response just before the check, so I am giving the restaurant 3 stars. I give the food 5 stars, it is pricey so I give that 2 stars for not including soup with the entree, I give my server a 2 as well. However, she does have great potential. A family run "Asian" (Chinese) food place. We mostly do take-out and tonite was no exception. There are a few tables and booths if you care to eat in, as we have a time or three. Either way, the food is good and the service prompt. The menu is a complete standard American-Chinese affair -- all the usual suspects. Prices are a little heavy. However, the portions are commensurate. They are a true family operated business with the kids occasionally pitching in nicely around schoolwork. Be ready to leave when you finish placing your phone-in order, though as "10 minutes" goes by quickly. My order is always just coming out as I walk in the door. My Kung Pow Shrimp with fried rice and egg roll was predictably spicy, flavorful and satisfying. Delicious, every time. read more

This is a great little Chinese food spot that is clean, run by a great family, and has a part of the menu that caters to some of the more authentic dishes. For Americanized Chinese food, this is great. It is my go-to place for my family, they put the food together fast enough that I only wait about 10 minutes for a full-family to-go order, and they are always polite. If you are looking for solid, predictable, traditional Americanized Chinese food, they do a great job of catering to that taste. If you want something more authentic, they are equally fantastic. I would like to first say that the young lady taking the orders over the phone needs to learn better customer service skills. I asked her basic questions about two dishes and the pricing in which she became rude and short with me. When I picked up the order she was the same exact way in person. As for the food it wasn't even as good as your average Chinese restaurant dish for the price range that they are in. The general tso's chicken had no flavour nor the did the rice. There wasn't even a hint of spice in it and it did not have the typical fragrant smell that Chinese dishes typically have. As for the restaurant it was very clean and looked to be well kept. This is a good little restaurant. Family owned, although, their english could use some work. I order the General Tso's Chicken and it's delicious. My best friend eats here with me often and she orders the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, and she's always willing to return for more. The wait staff, which is usually the family running the place, can come across a little rude, but it's just a language barrier. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Best Chinese in Oak ridge since Ms. Betty's closed. I was hard pressed to find a good Chinese take out in town until I found this.

Too many things were off with our takeout to recommend this place. This seems like a family owned business, which I do like to support, but this is passable asian food at best. It didn't taste old or reheated, so that's a plus, and my two year old liked her side of plain Lo Mein, but the good stops there. We order two types of eggrolls, both were made in springroll wrappers, which was not a big deal, but not as described. The Ma Pa Tofu had no ground pork in it!!!??? As far as I'm aware ground pork and tofu are the MAIN ingredients in the dish! The ratio is usually, 2/3 pork and 1/3 tofu in a rich brown sauce. We received a bunch of tofu in a brown sauce with some random veg thrown in. Chopsticks described this dish as pork and tofu on the menu, so my assumption is they were out of ground pork and made it anyway. They should have called back and asked if we wanted to order something else instead of making the dish without its primary ingredient. The Tofu Pad Thai tasted too sweet with no lime flavor at all, and worse there were no peanuts! You heard me NO PEANUTS!!!! Once again an omission of a primary ingredient. The Beef Chow Fun wasn't missing anything except...flavor. It was bland and overcooked, completely lacking in soy flavor. So to sum things up there were too many things missing to write this up as a fluke. I suspect they are choosing to leave out critical ingredients when they are out of things, instead of just informing the customer that they can't make that particular dish on a given day. If they had informed me they were out of peanuts and ground pork I would have ordered something else and been a happier customer in the end, as it stands I doubt I will ever go back. read more

Better than average food. Overly priced for the quantity you receive. Only a couple of tables to eat on if you plan to eat there. The place was obviously designed for take out only, but since it is within walking distance from a college I guess those tables might come in handy occasionally. I've only had a few communication issues when ordering over the phone, it depends on who takes the order. When I ask them to "hold the onions" or whatever else I don't want in the food, they substitute it with more of everything else so I don't end up with less food than I originally paid for. read more
